No, never saw them.

On the last day of the hunt with three hours left I finally find a great buck. He was a 6x5, really tall, about 2" beyond his flaird ears and huge mass. The only problem, he was bedded in an impossible place to get a shot. I was unable to drop the hammer on him but I had a great hunt. Saw lot's of deer, several bob's, a bunch of yotes. All in all a good hunt, but not one I will do over again. Did anyone else get tired of that crappy road comming down from the lake?

Doug, If you plan to go back in and look for the buck count me in. I live in Tucson and I also own a few GSP's, we can do a Mearns hunt/find your deer trip. Let me know.

On Friday put up fourtyseven Muley does and seven WT's does...No bucks. Saturday saw seven bucks and twentytwo does. Found one shooter but the stalk was busted by an archery hunter. I'll be back on Wed., hopefully not as many people. Merry Christmas

I have only been able to hunt Sunday, saw 7 bucks and countless does. I was only tempted once on a really cool 3x3 with a four inch kicker. He probably would net 140", but I think I would take him before a 150" deer. He is about 24 -25" spread and has great mass and long tines. I plan to be out more towards the end of the hunt. I am seeing a lot does without bucks and or seeing small bucks with does.

Jim, I was going to quote an excerp from your book but decided to read the rest of the posts, glad I did. I did not know you were on CWT. I wanted to tell you I loved your book! Lot's of great info and very educational! A must read, huntner or not.

"Deer of The Southwest" is a must read, I highly recommend!! I pick it up three days ago and finished last night.

I have the 35 a-b tag and going to be hunting carp on the 14th. Haven't seen any shooters yet either. Carp for me too! I keep hearing about a couple of 175-180 class bucks in the area I am scouting but have yet to find them. Good luck to you guy's!

How is your scouting going? I have been out several times and have seen some bucks but nothing I would burn powder on. Are you guys hunting Couse or Carp?

Went south for a Mearns scouting trip. Was short on time but put up five covey's in an hour. Covey sizes were all around 15 birds per. I am getting excited! Anyone else?

Yep, should be two good seasons back to back. I will be near Sonoita over Thanksgiving fo Mearns hunting and Coues scouting. Doug~RR Me too! I have a Dec. 35a and b ML hunt. I am holding out for Mearns and working out the finishings touches on two of my younger GSP's. Besides all of that, way to many snakes out for me. It should be a great Mearns season, I can't wait!!!

I think you hunt that TOAD and if your son should have an opp...he should take him!!! Let's face it, how many of us have ever seen a deer like that through our peep sights or scopes, I for one have not. If your son should get him, it will be a memory he will remember the rest of his life. Just think, your son wacks a deer like that and he did it with you!! That's better than any gross score in my book. Good luck and I hope your son get's him with you right next to him. What do you think would be more of a rush, you shooting that buck with your son watching or your son shooting that buck with you watching! I think the most important part of all this, is your doing it with your son. I can't wait to see the pic's of you and your son holding whatever. Have a great hunt,
