Gine you are right on the money, very well said. BML- I lost my hunting partner 4 years ago, my brother. I've had 2 bull tags since, one of which I was able to score on a very nice bull. I would give it all back to have one more chance to hunt with him. Cherish your time with your Dad and Brother. For all of you with tags in your pocket, congrats. As I said above, I've had 2 archery bull tags. The first tag, I scouted 22 days. I had 2 really nice bulls in the 375 range located. I hunted very hard, pushing myself to kill one of those bulls. By the end of the hunt I was worn out physically and mentally. You see, I had put so much pressure on myself, I couldn't possibly achieve the goals I had set for myself. My second hunt was vastly differant. I did not scout at all. Instead I took my wife and beautiful daughter on a nice relaxing vaction. I get back, load up and head for God's Country. My only goal going in to this hunt, was to try to call in as many bulls and I could and when the time was right and I found a mature 6x6 who was ready to die...I would kill him. For you first time archery hunters, know that you are going to have many close incounters where you will be unable to shoot. Keep the faith, stay confident, and have fun! It's all about finding a bull who is ready to die. Also, don't get cought up in the, I saw this 390 and that 400 crap. The way some people talk, these types of bulls are behind every pine tree. Here is a news flash, THEY ARE NOT! GOOD LUCK,

calling elk during September
azbownunter22 replied to massamino's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Sometimes calling works and sometime it doesn't. The secret is to find one that's ready to die. In other words, get out there chase bugels, try to ambush, stalk 'em, and be aggressive. The last bull hunt I had, I was within bow range 4 -6 times daily without getting a shot, that's bow hunting. In the end, it was my turn, the bull was ready to die. Go into this hunt knowing you are going to have shooting opp's, but for one reason or another they don't work out. Keep at it, don't get disscouraged, and stay positive! Enjoy your time in the field, -
It's so cool to watch a buck grow and mature in pictures. I've been getting pic's of a the same buck for four years, but have never actually seen him in real time. Congrat's to you and I hope you get him.

Now that's funny! POST THE PIC TREESTANDMAN! What a nice set, congrats on a great find...I hope you find this years set still on his head.

Still no pic? Simon Say's post the pic!

Hey Scott, Was that split ear buck in there? Have you seen him?

I'd like to hear your perspective....

I would call him to see what he has to say. NO WAY would I let him get away with his I own the forest attitude, I would bring it to his attention that the tank is on public land and it is first come first serve. If we let people get away with this type of behavior, where does it end? The line has been drawn. Let us know how it turns out. -
Ain't happening at this time. Got some personal issues to take care of before I can give that kind of dog the training it needs. Got my old mute to keep me campany Sweet pic!!! I love it! You are wise to pass on such an adventure. When someone calls me about buying a puppy, started, or finished dog I will spend hour trying to talk them out of it. Owning a pointing dog is a lot of work. It's like having twin boys who are into everything but worse, twin boys don't pull up 50 feet of irragation. Either you have the time or you don't, only you can decide. Happy hunting,

Hello All, I am studding one of my females out to the 2005 National German Shorthair Pointer OAA Dog of the Year. The breading will be this week and the puppies should whelp in late June. The puppies will be very nice, with lot's of natural ability, and point extremely hard. I am taking six deposits and already have three. Males are $600.00 and females are $700.00. PM me if you have any questions or wouold like to see the pedigree's. Thanks,
-
Hey Guy's, I wanted to give you an update. Palpatations will be june 3, things appear to be going good. I'm not taking anymore deposits. Oh and one more thing... That's for you Mike!
-
Oops, sorry mike, I did it again.

Now that's funny! Oops, just put it back at the top...

Is this Travis? If so, I have heard some good things about you and your dogs! I will be up in the White Mountains for Dog Camp in late Aug. through Labor Day, I would love for you to come out with your dog's to see them work. I'll send you a PM with my e-mail address. Good luck with your pup's,

Here is my .02, I think pedigrees are where you should start when considering making such a large purchase. Next you should look at the parents, see them hunt, shoot a few birds over them, and then see how they handle. I do not get cought up in AFC this and NFC that. With that being said, I do look for solid foundation dog's in a pedigree. Such as, Beiers Evolution, Aces Prima Bahnane, Hill Havens Hustler, and a few others. I believe some of the best hunting stalk come from fields trial lines. If I said it once I 've said it a thousand times, you can take run out of a dog...But you can't add to it. I strarted my lines with field trial stock and then added a imported GSP for a more traditional stlye dog. What I have ended up with is a dog that is at home with my little ones, a dog that will hunt in front of a horse, a dog that will hunt in front of a foot hunter, and run a really nice Gun Dog course. I could go on further but it's getting late and I'm going fishing tomorrow. Thank you guy's for the interesting thread and I'll look forward to picking this topic up next week. Take care,
-
Just wanted to give you guy's an update. I will be taking the female to my Vet on June 3 for palpatation and check up. Also, I now have two deposits for males, which means I am only taking one more. Thanks,
-
We did an A.I. on Monday and Wednesday and everything went great. I'm no longer taking deposits on Females. If you are looking for a male, now's the time as you would have first pick.

Need Your Honest Opinions

Good advice! I worked at the Pro Shop while I was in college and could never understand why the same people came in each year and bought the latest and greatest model. Must be a guy thing! Go to the Pro Shop and have a peak. I shoot the X Force and love it! I also have a Mach X and love that too! Just my $.02 -
WOW! Thanks guy's for the kind remarks! Checks in the mail! (:

Sweeeet! Love the pic of the "man cubs"!
-
Yup that's ol Hap himself. The Michael Jordan of all hound dogs, no kidding! Dad told me right after they caught it that the lion snagged ol Hap and they got to brawlin!!! Hap managed to escape w/o getting to tore up and wanted even more to kill the lion with his own jaws. After Dad let him go (no hunter) Dad swore that Hap was mad at him for not killing the lion himself. LOL!!! To bad they can't clone that dog...... Why was the cross made with a gsp? This Hap dog reminds me of a dog I've got in the kennel...Old Duke will fight anything! He doesn't look for trouble, but he can sure finish it!

Come on, put it back on!!!

Is that dog inthe last pic a shorthair?

I can't wait to take my little girl on her first hunt! She is five and if you could ask her what her favorite thing to do is, she would say, "Call BIG BULL'S in with my Dad!". Way to go Dad, keep up the good work! I'll say 319'ish. -
Couse? Can you say MULE DEER?
