WOW really?
Hanksaiditbest replied to azbirdhunter88's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I'm requesting that Amanda make some new "CouesWHINEtail" decals, all the bickering.... -
Helped pack out 4 mule deer this month with the full curl system, love the pack. only criticism would be the hip belt fit, but versatility and weight distribution has been great.

I have a savage axis in 30-06 stainless barrell that i am looking to sell. Maybe 30-40 rounds through it. Are you set on those calibers?

I am looking into setting up a new rifle and would like to shoot at some further distances. 5-600 yds would be ideal and don't need much more than that. I am looking at the howa 1500 and for the price, they seem to be a good start. I like the feel and weight of the hogue stock and the gun seems to be well made. Has anyone out there had experience with this gun? If so what have you done to it and would you recommend? Still deciding on caliber.

While commenting "wranglers" would make me look like a badass who tears through brush, sleeps in the dirt with no pad and eats coffee grounds.... I on the other hand have invested in quality hunting pants and am proud to say it. I've worn Sitka pants for the last two years and the stretch, quality construction and quietness of the fabric has given me the ability to hunt/scout/shed multiple days a week in a few select pairs that have not only lasted but provided a silky hammock for my adventures along the way. The price tag sucks but the comfort and mobility is worth it. Two solid pairs of pants with some gators is a more than sufficient setup for the average hunter... While spending $1.00 at the thrift store sounds appealing, making it to the top without a rash sounds even better... IMO

Going back and forth on a new pack this season... I am liking the versatility of the horn hunter full curl but am curious about the quality and comfort of the shoulder straps and hip belt as well as weight. Any input?

Anyone using the horn hunter full curl system?
Hanksaiditbest replied to Hanksaiditbest's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Great info... How is the comfort with heavy loads. From what I can see online the shoulder straps don't look too comfortable, decent padding? I may just give it a try but comfort is really important to me -

What kind of casings did you use? I have been unhappy with the texture of the dried collagen casings I used this year -

Such a shame what shed hunting as come to
Hanksaiditbest replied to joelpresmyk8's topic in Shed Hunting
Nothing worse than putting in hard hours on your feet to be upset by an idiot on wheels. But just as hunting during the fall, it's inevitable, road hunters, rule benders and for lack of better words (lazy a**holes) will always be there taking shortcuts and while they may find success, the sheds I find and the animals I kill in the areas that their put put's won't get them are that much more of a reward. While It feels good to complain and share communion in all of our hate for these guys... Putting in hard work and enjoying the hunt not the bounty is what it's all about. Let the a**holes be just that, quit whining and go take a hike!! Just keeping it light -
And then I realized I had no toilet paper..... Haha Sorry guys, as anxious as you are! Needed a laugh

My brother in law is a resident with 16elk bonus points going into the draw. He wants to hunt unit 9 or 10 as he will not have time to travel much further to scout. In what order would you guys recommend putting in for...... Unit 10 early rifle Unit 9 muzzy Unit 10 early archery Unit 9 Sept 18-oct 1 archery And also what can he expect for draw odds with any of these hunts (flatlander) Thanks guys

Looking for a decent used rangefinder. Will be mainly used for archery and am not too concerned with angle compensation. It is for a friend who is a beginning archer. Let me know what you have, available to meet in flagstaff or Phoenix.

I can't say enough about processing your own meat. Have been doing all of my own for a while now and I will say. Seeing the meat through every step of the process is not only rewarding and and additive to the experience of the hunt, but knowing that I am getting every ounce out of my kill, and keeping it clean and up to MY standards from the field to the freezer is worth any amount of time and money. That being said I use a cabelas .75 horse grinder and It has been more than adequate.
