U may get lucky and draw in a young one but other then luck all yur really doing is making the seasoned bucks aware u are there.

i will up there the weekend of the nov 12th to get a lay of the land and also scout a bit b4 my Dec cow hunt. If i see any nice bulls i'll send ya the gps cords when i return just b4 u leave on the 15th many eyes in the field makes for less work.

when is that hunt? I have a dec. cow hunt for unit 9 and plan on doing my scouting in the middle of Nov. Hope u get into them maybe u can direct me lol.

Has anyone used vanilla as a lure or cover up? I hear it works for the midwest whitetail but nvr thought about it for coues.

WOW, those are some great stories. The only thing i have to compare is one night in camp i had to wizz so i walked a few years away(of course) and i heard something so i zipped up and started to walk backwards back to camp when a cow appeared and spooked the heck out of me. She started sniffin and scratchin the ground were i relieved myself she did this for about 10 mins. She was like 5 ft from me and i dont think she saw me. I just droped to a knee and watched it was the weirdest thing. Finally my buddy came yelling wondering if i had "fallen in" and she spooked. When she left we looked at what she was doing she had tore up the ground were i went. i think she as in love.

Tell me about its worse then x-mas as a kid.

I hunted that unit 4yrs ago not saying much. but when i did my buddy and i both taged out on a couple nice bucks not real big but very very good lookin deer.we saw about 6 bucks, 30 does in 2 days and not another hunter. Its just too far for me to hunt anymore and too rugged 4 my buddy. So good luck guys its a fun hunt also great for bear, we had one climb up and start knawing on the face of my deer by the time we noticed (heard) the nose was gone.

Thanks all, everyone else says the same thing. stay put and stop whinning if u dont see that 120 then just be happy with what the hunting gods give u.

Any help would greatly be welcome. Seen lots of deer and pasted on some 90's anyone know of a good area here where i can score above 100? I have seen a 120 or so but would like a back up plan since i only get one shot with the way the gas crunch is going. Thanks in advance Huntsmen

I feel your pain, thats happen to me more then a few times.

It all depends on the WM that u see or talk to. Most of them are fellow hunters and understand the need for protection (cause u know they are carrying) it also depends on where u are hunting i.e high risk areas and what type of pistol if u a have scoped .44 or .357 then they might think hmmmm WHY. but if u have a 9mm or 40 glock nonhunting weapon then they may decide its only for protection and give ya warning. I carry a side arm when bow hunting and have been "reminded" many times that i cant carry it while bowhunting but never a ticket as of yet, if i do get one then its straight to the courts with my picket sign. I have come back to camp and had it destroyed by hmmm well u know who. So carry at own risk. cause i do

Indeed he is nice but i would place him in the low to mid 90's.
