i just love the early success stories of hard work, good friends and the best animal to hunt CONGRATS!
-
sweet congrats on your first ghost

To all interested. like stated before the deer are there you will just have to get out and find them, they are not going to jump infront of your truck for you. Some long hard hikes will give you the best chance at seeing a shooter. The area is over run with hunters true but most are road or lazy hunters. If you pack into the wilderness area all you will run into is some great views plenty of deer and the fellow hunter put as much time and effort into the hunt as yourself. I normally camp in the Ash Creek area and hump in from there for a few days, its an RV lot but once you get about a mile up its only you. I will be there the early Nov. hunt so if anyone has that hunt look for my Wrangler cant miss it with the big CouesWhitetail.com sticker taking up most of the windshield. Everyone have a safe and fun hunt.

i hunt 32 every year for the past 8 years and there are plenty of deer to go around, most hunt via atv so like the others have said hiking into the wilderness is your best chance plan on a very hard hump in. Scouting as much as you can will help tons. I have the early Nov. hunt so i will long gone by time you get your chance. As for the mtn lions yeppers and you cant forget the bears either. Glass glass glass and then glass some more. pm me if you have any other questions

Take your dog and shoot it
azhuntsmen replied to Diamondbackaz's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
i have had dogs all my life (father was an animal control officer) and although pit bulls are by nature a agressive animal like a few others have stated they need to be youthNized not murdered. Look at it from an wild animal point of view if u found and kept a baby mtn lion its still programed to hunt and kill no matter how u treat it same goes to these animals. for the people who have them as pets and love thier loving nature u have one of the few out there and although u may have treated it right all it takes one thing to set them off into an uncontrollable range. Consider yurselfs lucky it hasnt happened yet. -
I noticed the 2 in plain sight and failed to see the 3rd, so i asked my wife "hey honey how many deer do u see" she walks up,looks over my shoulder and says 3 why how many are there. She is not a hunter, the only deer she has seen in the wild are the doe by the side of the road. I thought i had her with the doe in the back ground geesh. I asked her how she saw him, she says because i am always talking about the antlers and such and when she was checking them out the back ground deer winked at her (smartA$$) .Hope u get a chance to stick that toad come archery time(i cant wait).

GAME AND FISH TO CHANGE HUNT STRUCTURES
azhuntsmen replied to bowhuntinmaniac's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Thats all we need is for more hunters in the early hunts to trip over. Old saying that i live by "if its not broke dont fix it". I am all for allowing for more people to enjoy hunts but a hunter survey would have been nice. Like alot of ya have said most hunters that put in for the dec hunts fully understand the odds and are willing to accept them. I would love for a dec hunt but for now i am totally happy with just filling the freezer or in this years case tag soup.To also keep in mind there is also the dec-jan archery hunts that i think of as trophy hunts and we dont have to worry about local and draw odds so there is a silver lining to this cloud. Best of luck on this battle and if time permiting i am going to attend a meeting or 3 just to help out my fellow hunters that i believe have a strong case. p.s i got blanked on my unit 9 elk tag TONS of fresh sign just a day late and a hill short i guess. -
like many have stated its the harvest of the animal that counts, if its spike to a monster 4x4 130 thats all a bonus and just a bonus. Congrats on the harvest of a beautiful animal.

Hey all, i am leaving for my cow hunt a day late so if anyone has any areas i should look at 1st that would greatly help. I scouted a few weeks ago and saw a few bulls and no cows and of course i have a cow tag. So if you have a kind word i would be greatly thankful. Thanks, Huntsmen

WOW congrats on a fantastic lookin buck. good to see quilty bucks out of a unit i enjoy hunting.
-
one shot one kill, BLAH yea its nice but thats not how it always works out. I have taken afew extra shots down range just to make sure. its not like u saw him fall and kept putting rounds into his lifeless corpes RIGHT and if so thats all u man its yur hunt right, let them cry about it all they want and they will until they do the same thing. If u can afford it then let the lead(nonlead based) fly brother.

Tines, where will u be in december i got this new CD i want to try out and i just got my rifle back from the smith i need to make sure tis AOK. oh and if u need any power i got a 12,000 watt generator that i run all night dont worry i got extra ear plugs. no need to justify anything u wrote anal or not its the TRUTH.

Great story and killer buck. When u expect less you usually get more out of it. why to go, i had to show my wife this story in hopes getting her into the sport i love so much (it may have worked) thanks
-
1st of let me say nice buck & congrats. 2nd i am sorry you had a bad time while doing so. I agree with alot of what was said, its only common sense and common courtesy to respect others while hunting/camping.Its not only and enjoyment factor its a saftey issue. the only good thing is that "these people" only road hunt or do not travel more then 250yrs from thier camps. So like u said the odds of them tagn a deer are slim. they have a better chance of tagn another hunter. So thats why i hike in as far as my o'l legs will carry me. i am just curious on what unit u were hunting cause i had close to the same on mine. Hunt safely keep yur eyes open and head down while going to and from camp, kinda feeels like bagdad.

Seen the fee proposals for 2006?
azhuntsmen replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
You have a few good points, but to some its a way of life. My family history has been hunting long before any gov. has been involed how is that a privilage? people used to and still do hunt for food etc. Not everyone has 6,000 quads 12,000 tailers and 1,000 sound systems. As for helping us agianst the 'arm chair animal lovers" all that does is prove thier points at that we(hunters) will go to no lengths to "kill all the animals". Fees do need to be increased but not as inflated as they " propose" thats insane. I agree it will also limit the number of people that CAN apply for the so called Premuim hunts just looking for the "BIG SCORE" and will help with the animal lovers. To close my point i make a decent income and have a family( kids dogs WIFE) and had a tuff time being able to afford this years hunts. If this is "privilage" then why because of my income should i be excluded? I feel that i have a RIGHT to provide meat for my family for the up coming year that isnt infected with gov chemicals. I am in no way trying to degrade anyones opinion these are just mine, in a topic like this one there are no right or wrong answers just feeelings and i have shared mine. -

Well i better start lookng for a 2nd job to afford my hunt tags. This is getting to be an expensive Sport maybe i'll switch over to tennis or bird watching. These are just "Proposal" fees people to stand up and be heard when they have thier public hearing. -
Very nice buck. Welcome to the site i am pretty new to it aswell and so far i am having a blast these are a bunch of great guys and Gals. Well what is his score? I'd say 80-85ish. But i am a fisherman to by heart so i always aim big . Congrats on a beautiful harvest.

Wish i knew about RR's method when i got my elk. But i sure will use that this year when i one down. So much easier when yur alone doing. Learn something new everyday.

If it was big enough for you to feel it crawl on ya then it most likely was scorp. However some ants can leave a nasty sting if you have a reaction to it. may sound stupied but take a pen and draw a ring around the very boarder of the purple part ,if its still growing see a DR. cause u may have serious issues can result in major medical compliactions. hope u get to feeeling better

Congrats, it goes without saying "never give up til last light of the lastday of the hunt"
