    STEAL THIS!!!

looks good I have a box that we built at a welding shop that my brother in law owns he kept wanting to go bigger faster stronger the only problem was the weight and packing it in was a chore that is why I would take Jim and Kolby, Jim would pack the box and Kolby would pack the camera, batteries , the solar panel and cable lock and I would carry the socket wrench and the two lag bolts oh yeah and the SD card , it worked very well and only one problem a bear was so curious it broke the lens and a piece of the cover it cost me 40.00 plus shipping to have it fixed,I had some good pictures of his teeth tong and eyes, Good luck and have fun with it Jeff

salt and feed no more in 2009

I think Jim is right he has taken me all over those ridges and I think between the ranchers and the hunters and natural licks and water holes and springs you can glass a deer, bear or elk going to any of these spots in the prime time on any given day with big glass. If you cant make it that afternoon more than likely they will be there tomorrow. I think that is a big help in the % going up. I also believe that the quality of hunter has gone up more guys are willing to put more into it. better equipment, trail cameras, scent control, bows, map sys, broad heads "2 1/2 in cutting dia." you hit them in the toe and they bleed out. You Guys are funny here I took a buck off of bait a few years back and you guys dogged me telling me how unethical I was and how wrong it was and look at all you now. I talked to a Guide up here yesterday that took a 390 inch bull this last week end at 580 yards just another to take big game. What a shot!! and I don't shoot a rifle. It is another way to take big game I dont want to lose any opportunity and don't take me wrong on this I love to hunt and have taken game every way their is almost! I know a older guy in town retired 72 years old and it is a hobby to him and this will kill him if they take this away. He has the best pictures and he has shown me so much in reading sign, scent control and the wind he has put thousands of dollars into his stands and he has taken a deer or so it is awesome all the game that has came through while we have been in the stand. I try to make the meetings up here and I have spoken up on this more than a few times and have spoken to the WLM on this they told me that is was coming. Please guys fight a good fight I leave in a month or so for a year and I would like to be able to hunt when I get home.

    Deer Bating?

Treestandman you didn't offend me i'm just saying im not the Howard Hill or Fred Bear type and I need all the help I can get and technology has made the differance in my trophy room, and it is your opion on huting over differnt foods to me it is not, they both need food and water and some game travel the same route everyday and time, so to me it is all the same and it is still a advantage no matter what! Deer Bating?

MR Treestand, it was fair chase go to the p&y web site and read what the fair chase rules are. In your mind is it right to set a drinker or a water tank they come into it every day and is it fair chase to shoot a elk cooling off in a tank, not trying to split hairs and what does it mean by deep snow. So are you saying that the only way to hunt is to spot and stalk? How about the rut, chasing them with something else on there mind and using a decoy on other game like antelope or elk and putting salt down. What about sitting in a tree stand and waiting on a deer just to walk by or set a scrape or making mock scrape or putting an attractant on the ground or using hounds on lions and bears. With todays technology with optic and all the new calls, gps', rangefinders, feeders, stands, blinds, camo and scent blockers, 4 wheelers, new type bows and I could go on forever on all the new stuff and it all shows on how high the % are on taking wildlife around the country in the last 10 years. Just look at the the new records that have been broken in the last 5 years and if not broken all the big elk in the last five years a 400 elk was maybe one per season and it was a friend of a friend. This year I know of 5 over 400. We can debate this all day, I believe if you think about it long enough you will have second thoughts on ethics on all of your hunts. I know with all my 8 differnt big game animals I could not have done it without todays technology and the help from guys like yourself .I was only trying to help the new guy behind his bow. Have a good day Jeff Hough

    Deer Bating?

I beg to differ, Had the g&f out at my feeder and we discussed the baiting law to a tee

    Deer Bating?

It is only aginst the law to bait bears not deer or any other game look at the other posts on here i know first hand. cracked corn works well.becareful because bears will come in and then it gets real grey. Jeff

    Norm Pint

You know with all the game he has taken he never got a coues buck! He was waiting for a nice 4 point to come under my stand he passed up alot of small ones and thought one was a mule deer until it turned and walked away.He said he had alot of unused tags in my life he said two weeks at a aba meeting down in the valley. I met Norm about 6 years ago sitting on the aba board never a bad word about anybody and always a kind word no matter what. We will all miss him dearley We are hoping that they can transfer his sheep tag to his grandson we have a sheep guy and a camara crew already to help out. He also had a bull tag in unit 3c and took a old guy about a 340 class this year. Good by Norm. God speed Jeff Hough.

    Jeff Hough's Unit 1 Coues

I had 2 bears that came in and one of them scared off the deer and we had some questions on baiting and trying to keep the bear from finding the other stand we put up.

My buddy and I have been watching these bucks since last Jan there was 5 bucks that wood come in to the feeder as well as elk, pigs ,turkeys and fox and two racoons and two bears that would not leave.Three of the 5 would score over 100 inches mine went 106 & 4/8 a 6x4 plus eye guards and a cheater point on his g2 I have alot of trail cam pictures on a cd if any body would like to see them send me your E mail address or I can send the cds to the web site. We have over 1000 pictures from hard horn to no horns to the velvet stage .I shot him on the third day of the season. My buddy shot his on the 2nd day and it was bigger then mine it scored 115P&Y a 3x3 with big eye guards the third big buck is a 2x3 with long tine lenght and long mains and tall eye guards .And he is still walking around we think he would score more then the other two (gross) it has been a kick whatching it all come together this last 10 months, we would go in and grain every other day we had salt down also, I think the pigs and turkey got most of the corn and the bear that would not leave we bumped him a couple of times, he was big about 450lb lite tan in color my kids saw him take a dump after he left at 30yrds and tring to get them not to laugh was a joke because of the noise he made and they are still talking about it to this day, (kids) kind of close with that big of a bear so near. The above picture is two differnt deer I think they are from the same gene pool and the small one was what mine looked like last year, I named the pictue our you my daddy or mirror buck. my stand was only 6 miles from the house and on state land. I took my turkey of the stand. The bears are still running around I could not shoot them because of the corn and the bating laws we had to move the feeder 2 week prior to the season the deer stoped coming in on count of the big bear We had to get the Game & Fish involved in this hole mess It all worked out and we had a wounderful season 2 deer and 2 turkeys and alot of pictures Iwill try and get Kevin to post some pictures of his ,if not I have some of it alive Jeff Hough Eagar Az.
