TAM, When I think I've hit gold with a water hole for whatever reason, the camera pics are usually a let down. Secluded honey holes haven't worked for me yet. I hiked in two hours with a buddy to see if a natural water hole existed from our maps. We thought we had struck a gold all to ourselves. The reality was there was very few deer pics and only one pic of a decent three by, and the camera was there for almost three mo.! What a dissapointment that was. Kevin your welcome, let me know if you have need for any more.

Tam, the one with the lion looks kinda secluded. Did it get a lot of traffic and is there a road around?
-
Wow, that pic is unreal. I've seen my share of trash down there but that takes the cake.
-
Thanks for the B-day recognition!

Hopefully these will help you out, I have tons more. Let me know if you are looking for something a little different. Justin

Cool picture Mark, congrats on your archery pig!

I won't hunt with my kids down south because of all the illegal traffic. It sure does suck we have to plan our fun around illegal aliens. Let's make them all legal and it won't be a problem, yea right, funk that!!!
-
My god, save some fun for the rest of us! Congrats on all your animals. I'm not jealous, yea right!

very nice deer, congrats -
Thanks Daryl. The bucks are from 3 different cams.

Well I've studied the buck and it has to be a branch, but it sure is neat. The fox has a rabbit, definately a one of a kind pic. I thought everyone would enjoy these!!!

I shoot a pse firestorm, I definately like my bow and the idea I am supporting a local company. I assume pse bows are as good as the rest of the pack, but I have been tempted to try out a mathews bow. Oops did I say out loud.

My hunting partner and I year after year discuss the issue of point restrictions on hunting Arizona animals. I assume most hunters would be in favor of putting restrictions on harvest requirements. I really don't see the downfall of this except for maybe the first couple years. I realize that "just for fun" hunters or meat hunters probably wouldn't approve, but do their odds for success really go down after a couple years of a restriction being put in place? Anyway I'm sure there are a lot of pros and cons I am not taking in to account. Feedback is definately what I am searching for. Congrats to all the sucessful hunters, I have been seeing some very nice deer harvested!

Thank you everyone for the feedback so far. I am truly suprised at the overwhelming support of no restrictions so far. Some more food for thought, what about a couple units with a point restrictions. Although I don't really like this, it would allow choices for people. I think a lot of people are bambi killers because they don't want to come home and tell their friends, No I didn't get a deer. With a point restriction, that pressure would no longer be there to shoot a spike or a forkie just for the sake of killing. Wouldn't it seem that after a few years, your chances at finding a mature buck would be much better. By the same token it seems it would improve the chances for a monster. I think even your casual hunter would truly be thrilled to take a nice animal, but it is to easy to shoot the first thing and that as you all know is usually not the trophy we are looking for. As for youth hunters, I have a few of my own and I would like to see them take nice animals and will teach them to pass on dinks if they want a chance on a trophy. Although I certainly wouln't have a problem with restrictions execpt for junior's hunts. Thanks again to all who have responded so far, very interesting.

I agree in the fact a inferior buck has a more likely chance to breed, but you don't think a spike buck has the potential to make or exceed the 100 in. mark? I guess I didn't realize a yearling had the potential to be a three by. I am exhausted to the fact of watching hunters pull spikes and forks out of the hunting areas, when I feel all of these deer have the potential to be a nice trophy. Thank you for the input.

Tree stand vs pop up ground blind
gotcoues replied to mulie hunter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I sat a blind on salt with my Daughter two weekends in a row. On camera we had deer coming and going, somtimes staying for around a half an hour. We sat over forty hours on two weekends and did not see a single deer. I can identify atleast 20 to 25 different deer on camera and nothing. I assume this was a scent issue because they couldn't see the blind in the brush. They would have to be directly in front to see it. Although we tried sprays and cover up to avoid issues with scent, the deer had our number. I am going back tomorrow to check my camera, I think the blind had some effect on the deer but I expect to find the deer hanging out at the salt only 15 yards from the blind (which I left up for experimental puposes). I have treestands and definately wonder if things might have been different in the stands. I feel I am a patient person, but so far my blind and stand entertainment for the last couple seasons has been brutal!!!! -
I just received these pics via e-mail, I don't have any specifics except sonora, mexico. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/gotcoues/pic27634.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/gotcoues/pic03334.jpg

Bowhunter tries to close road with boulders on Saturday
gotcoues replied to bowsniper's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I hope you get this worked out, but anybody that will do something like that probably won't respond. Good luck on your hunts this season sniper. -
Good luck on your deer hunt, keep us posted.
-
Hey 4868, sorry for the slow response I have been out of town with no access to the net. To answer your question, I really don't have one. Anywhere from a week to a month and a half. My camera's will go three months and 1500 pics, so it really just depends on what I have going on and how far from home the cam is.

My partner Harvey and I set up on some bucks we had glassed last season, but was unable to get them on our camera. We set up in the same place with better results this season. I'm pretty sure these are the same deer, but we never saw them after velvet. Most of the deer we were watching seem to dissapear after velvet.

Check out the Bobcat, he marks his territory and then a lion come three hours later. The stain is obvious when the lion comes. I like to see moms keeping the young ones in check. I didn't find any good bucks at this location, I was very optimistic but no luck.

Well you really got me wondering, so I took a closer look. On zoom in I still thought it was a fawn, but wasn't 100 percent sure. I have pictures a couple minutes before and after and based on the other pics I am sure it is a deer. I have just about everything under the sun on my cams. One thing I lack is a coyote.
-
The pics are taken out of the Santa Ritas, and thats a fawn not a coyote. On my video clips there seems to a lot of pushing and shoving at the water holes by the deer. This behavior is not usually picked up with just the still frames.
