    First Archery Coues

Thanks so much for all the kind words. Dillon will be going on his second deer hunt this October. Him and his brother Cody drew the early youth Oct tag. Dillon wasn't able to harvest a buck last year, we just couldn't get him in close enough for the shot. We're going to give it our all and git er done this year!
  3. That's incredible to pull off a bear hunt solo. What an awesome trophy! Huge Congrats Jim Justin

Hunting Water after a big rain

Don't bother, probably will be a waste of time. I had cams on water and as soon as monsoons come the deer totally change their routine. Not sure if everyone will agree or not, but I wouldn't sit water right after a heavy rain.

    Opening Weekend Archery

I have the same problem every yr and this weekend was no different. I've come to the conclusion that I have a funky odor about me and I might as well call it quits. Lions on my cams make no difference on deer movement according to my cameras over the years IMO. I think it's a scent/wind issue. I'm tempted to leave the sweatiest shirt I can find each time I go in to check cams to try and get them used to my scent (pretty silly huh?) I've tried everything I can think of and still have yet to be rewarded. Maybe this yr will be different

    Game camera regs

About two months ago, I had pictures on my camera of someone from Forest Service checking out my spot I set up last year. I was worried that I would find a note or my stuff would be gone upon returning. I didn't know if they found it on accident or perhaps one of the few hikers I've had on camera gave them gps coordinates. He came by twice in a few days while they were in the area doing trail maintenance. To date I've had no problems with my stuff being left out. I hike in every other weekend to check on it and still breathe a sigh of relief every time when my stuff is how I left it.

    Ward's Outfitters 135" coues story

Anyone can go out and chase a "P & Y" coues on public land (pretty easy to find a "P & Y"). You don't need to go to Mexico or hunt private property. Just have to get off the couch

    Mysterious pics

Moultries are junk in my opinion, I used the older models w the 6 volt batt. Everything about them sucked. Cuddeback and Covert are much better cams IMO

    Monster Coues Buck

One side is bigger than the other, which means he obviously non-typical. VERY COOL

    Solid Buck

This pic was taken on 7-14. Last year at this time the bigger bucks at my spot looked more like the one to the right. I had a very large 3by with small eyeguards last yr, but he was only starting to branch on this same date. I think this is a new visitor and I'm excited to go back in a couple weeks to check my cams again. Also, it was a big relief that my activity didn't plummet because I set my blind up the last time we were there and within a couple days the deer activity was back to normal. This buck is less than 20 yards from my blind. Cmon archery season!

    YOUR BIGGEST ANTELOPE

First of all, how in the world do you get one of these mythical antelope tags? I know darn well you can't get them from the AZ drawing for big game! 10 yrs and still waiting

    Thermacell Repellent

Dang! I'm not sure about Cedar Gnats either. I'm absolutely positive it repels Chupacabras and Sasquatch though.

    Thermacell Repellent

Not sure on chiggers, it might say on the packaging what it repels.

    Thermacell Repellent

My first experience with Thermacell was in Florida while hunting hogs and turkeys from make shift blinds and tree stands about five years ago. It is mandatory equipment out there unless you want to be carried away by the condor like mosquitos. Thermocell works great, well worth the money. Only works in an isolated area and it takes a few minutes to start working once you fire it up. While treestand hunting, I'll set it on the platform. Has a slight odor, but doesn't seem to spook game IMO. If bugs are a big problem for you, I would recommend giving it a try. One of the units I purchased the clicker wouldn't ignite the unit very well. Wal-mart carries them and has a good return policy incase you end up with a faulty one. They should light within 3 clicks, take it back if it doesn't.

    New Shirts!

Amanda, Just a thought, the print shop I use for my company shirts doesn't charge extra if I get multiple colors if the same brand shirt. They only charge extra for changing the ink color. Also once you get to the magic numbers for your different discounts you should be able to add in more expensive type shirts and also recieve discounts because they should go by total numbers. Might want to hold out and try out some limited quantities on stuff when you can add it into a bulk order. That's what I have done in the past and it seems to work well. Justin PS I love my new CWT shirts, but my girlfriend is bugging me about when hers will be here

    Coupla pics

I thought I had seen that deer before, but then I realized it wasn't a deer at all. It's the sloth character from Ice Age, the animated movie.

    A little Thursday afternoon comedy

Hilarious! What it's true, it's not so funny anymore.......
  24. I received an email from G & F about this event. From what I understand it fills up quickly, they have less than 100 spots available at this time. I thought this would be a great experience for most people. My girlfriend Colleen and I will be going with another couple from CWT Tracy and Angie (Gr8Whitejr & girlygirlhunter). I'm pretty sure we're going to have to sport some CWT gear and hopefully we might run into some future friends from CWT Justin Arizona Game and Fish Department NEWS RELEASE For immediate release, June 15, 2010 See bighorn sheep on Canyon Lake with the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the Dolly Steamboat This guided wildlife viewing experience starts with an evening classroom presentation where participants can learn about bighorn sheep, their natural history, management and historical significance from a wildlife biologist. The following morning, participants will join biologists for a morning aboard the Dolly Steamboat where the group will tour the lake to view wild bighorn sheep in their natural environment. The presentation will be held on June 25 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Game and Fish’s regional office located at 7200 E. University Drive in Mesa. The lake tour and viewing will take place on June 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Dolly Steamboat. “June is the time of year when the bighorns stay pretty close to water. It will be hot on the lake, and there will be little shade on the boats, but that’s when bighorns come down to the water’s edge for a drink,” said Brian Anthony, Game and Fish wildlife manager in the Canyon Lake district. “The hotter it is, the better the opportunity to see sheep along the banks.” Pre-registration is requested for both the Friday evening classroom session and the Saturday lake tour. The Friday classroom session is free, and those planning on doing the lake tour are strongly encouraged to attend to maximize their knowledge and viewing experience. To register for the Friday evening classroom session, call Randy Babb at the Game and Fish Mesa office at (480) 324-3546. Registrations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, as the presentation is limited to 70 people due to facility restrictions. The Saturday lake tour and bighorn sheep viewing experience will be on the Dolly Steamboat and costs $30 per person. Advance registration is required. To register, call the Dolly Steamboat at (480) 827-9144. Participants are encouraged to bring a camera, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and binoculars. Snacks and drinks may not be brought on the Dolly Steamboat, but can be purchased onboard. Those that have not registered prior to the event will be accommodated as space allows. “This is a great opportunity for people to learn about bighorn sheep, and conservation efforts by the Game and Fish Department and its partners for bighorn sheep,” says Anthony. Anyone with questions about the workshop may contact Randy Babb at (480) 324-3546 or e-mail rbabb@azgfd.gov.

    I Got Robbed!!

That's too bad about your camera and pretty strange he would dump his salt on top of yours. The salt part just doesn't make any sense to me. I scouted out a couple new spots last yr and the one I ended up choosing to hunt wasn't found by anyone. Now this year, two hikers and one turkey hunter have stumbled upon my spot. Definitely going to be anxious every time I walk in there hoping my cams are still there.
