Friend and Family Hunt In Sonora (part 1)
gotcoues replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
That's pretty cool Jim, nice bucks. Can't wait for the next part of the story -
Thanks guys, I'm still on cloud nine over my buck. The boys and I are headed out for their second day of jr pig, no pigs spotted yesterday. We covered lots of ground while glassing and kept thinking we were going to see them at any second. Hopefully we' ll see them today. Azcoues, the whole family was very sad when we got tebowed.

That's a gnarly buck Tim, congrats
-
Very nice, good job!

My buck has a G4 on his left side but it seems to be a bit close to the G3 causing a web effect and better mass. He is only a 3point on the right, so my question is should I take the larger mass measurement and call it a tine or should I take the measurement halfway from the G3 and the tip of the beam and consider an extra. Also, it is inline with the other points I over scored my 2011 buck and would like to get more precise at scoring wt, thanks in advance.

Didn't you shoot a deer in January 2011? Right after you shot one in December if I remember correctly?
-
Nice, very cool Phil
-
Congrats on your deer! Glad he gave you another chance
-
I was wondering why you hadn't posted up yet. Getting a pig/coues double both spot and stalk is a sweet deal. Very nice
-
That is a great looking buck, how wide it he?
-
Ya, saw that. Thanks SD

Amanda, Wow I clicked the link and found some good humor in how serious this scoring business is. I now feel precise was a bad choice of words in my original post and general knowledge is what my desire is at this time. Ok I'm scoring in between the points, taking the higher mass measurement and nets are fish........ FINAL ANSWER Thanks for the quick responses everyone, very appreciated
-
Thanks, that is the follow up I needed
-
This is what I was thinking as well, and your reasoning makes sense to me about mass from both tines "overlapping"
-
My guess is..... The final answer will be it is an extra and the mass will be taken out on the beam. I emailed Amanda and will post her answer when she responds.
-
I'm not following you on this.... I'm a drywaller if that tells you anything, bare with me
-
Nice buck! ditto on some more details
-
That buck absolutely rocks!
-
Thanks guys, this is my first January buck, coues or carp. Guess I'll find out how it feels when August and the rifle season roll around and I don't have two tags in my pocket
-
I have a pig curse, I only see them when I don't have a tag. I feel your pain, good luck!

Very nice, traditional equipment to boot. I've shot an eastern w my bow, but he was a dink. Can't wait to get a wall hanger from my wife's home state of PA. Any close calls yet for you this season on another coues?
-
Thanks, you guys & gals rock! It's your stories that help fuel the fire to keep at it. I've been truly blessed to take awesome coues buck four years running! I do love the coues deer more than any other big game animal and Jan 1rst can't come soon enough! 2009 Rifle Coues Hunting with my best friend Harvey and another fella Art 2010 Archery Coues Hunting with my son Dillon, Tracy and Harvey came up to help with the recovery 2011 Rifle Coues "the cody buck" Hunting with Cody Whiting, Harvey and my son Dillon 2012 Archey Coues Hunting with Hank and my wifey the day prior to gettin em I can only hope the streak continues in 2013, as Sheen would say "winning"!!!!!!

I'm so glad you surrendered and got one with a rifle, there is no shame in that. You could of sat that blind forever with no guarantee. That is an awesome buck for sure. I'm sorry, I have to ask, how long are those main beams? Looks like if they curled in, they would overlap! Awesome deer, congrats! -
Memorable week for sure, that's awesome right there!

That's right, I was thinking cole or caul, but forgot the fat. For a minute, I debated watching it again because it is on the dvr, but figured the show wasn't that great for a round two.
