    Bill Sponsors have dropped it

One thing that another CWTailer mentioned was the conservation plates we are sporting on our vehicles. It is my understanding $17 dollars goes to the AZSFW and the remaining $8 goes to the state. I am saddened to say, I did we all have to do and I renewed my tags this month with a standard AZ plate and opted out of the conservation plate since the money goes directly to AZSFW. Hopefully we can put the AZSFW out of business and they will award the conservation plate to a new group we can all support that won't use our money against us!

    Auction Bear Tag Hunt 2011

Sabigreezy really, really either likes this post Jim or he is pretty pissed. Can't quite tell hahaha That's a pretty cool hunt Jim, congrats to your hunter and guide.
  10. I'd like to get some feedback on some ideas and I welcome all responses positive or negative. One of the issues that AZSFW has claimed they will address with our precious tags is locked gates. It is my understanding monies will be used to pay trespass fees so ranchers/land owners will open locked access gates or open up their land to hunting and fishing. I would definitely be opposed to this idea and the reason is, I believe if you "pay to play" like this, it will just be a lucrative incentive for others to lock their gates as well. Also, would we sign legal ten year agreements, annual agreements? I can definitely see the price going up and up and up on a crappy deal like this. I would like to be educated on the principals of tax credits for grazing cattle. Growing up a city boy I am not here today to make ignorant assumptions but rather discuss ideas and again, educate myself. I'm not a big fan of subsidies for anyone and would very most likely vote down the idea for any given situation. With that being said, I would like to take a look at how much money we're talking about in the cattle grazing tax breaks. If I am correct in saying that a private ranch owner with a massive tract of land can get a whopping discount on their tax liabilities because of the subsidy, isn't it fair as a taxpayer to ask for hunting and fishing privileges on their land with a valid license in exchange for the above? Ultimately, anyone who gets a subsidy is benefiting from your everyday taxpayers. Why shouldn't there be a legal trade off? Another idea floating around my lumpy head is this, I have always heard from other hunters that they offer up some free labor to help out in exchange for permission to hunt. I have personally tried this method with a friend in Unit 29. We approached the rancher/s and said we would like to give something back so we can earn hunting privileges. We also happened to be at a restaurant in Tucson at the same time as a couple of these family members were and ended up picking up the tab for their lunch that day. My point is we put in some serious effort to conceive some sort of a relationship with these guys and we were totally shot down. We spent lot's of time in the area and learned that family or close friends were allowed to hunt their property and even found out a Game and Fish Warden was allowed to hunt their property, apparently he kept a close eye out for them and their property. What if we took this idea a bit further and tried to develop bigger and better relationships we these type people. Maybe organized events by G&F or critter groups that ranchers could sign up for and get real assistance. 15/25 people would show up to work for a weekend and really give the rancher a helping hand rather than a couple guys showing up and perhaps being more of an inconvenience than an actual help. I hope I can pull some feedback from you guys and gals on this issue. Because I am adamantly against a Sheep tag or any other tag being pimped off to pay a rancher to unlock his gate. Very cool Casey! Congrats on all of those critters. Bucket list..... Africa
  12. I agree on the leased land issue, this to me is a no-brainer. The lease should state all people with valid hunting and or fishing license are allowed at the very least, probably a lot more than that. As far as the private lands I think it boils down to the tax credits they are receiving for their property if they graze cattle. It should come with more than a price of x amount of cattle per square mile. If I own a large tract of huntable land and I choose to lock it off and keep it all to myself for any reason, I should be allowed no questions asked PERIOD. But, when I have my hand out wanting tax breaks because owning that large amount of property is expensive, then I should be willing to give something back in return. As far as access to get to public land through private, I thought there already laws on the books to address this issue. I thought it was illegal to "land lock" something. You have to provide a permanent easement at "fair market value" to whomever needs it. I also think they idea of someone charging money to use their road to access the sheep behind their property is repulsive at best. Some sort of law prohibiting being able to profit directing in that manner should simply be put on the books. That kind of garbage will get very contagious as time goes on.

Glad this is sold out, nice to hear good choices bring great results. I plan on joining up and sent them an email thanking them for recent events.
  14. Looking for link now, I'll post it if I can find it.
  15. This is a second response I received tonight from Representative Peggy Judd for district 25 I appreciate her willingness to come on the CWT political discussion part of the forum and do some research of her own, and I think she will do so. Wow, I will take some time to read up on this and do the research. In all fairness, I am listening. I hope you are not very angry with me. You asked what my thoughts were. Please don’t be too harsh… these game organizations and hunter clubs are all new to me. We just go out in small family groups and hunt deer. Have a nice weekend, Rep Peggy Judd

I recently purchased a pistol from Jason and he was a pleasure to deal with. The gun was in excellent condition, as he promised and it was the worth the drive up to Phx for me. Thanks again Jason, my wife loved it!

    Predator Control funded in Utah

I have been discussing bounties on coyotes with friends and believe there is a possible good bang for your buck on this. Money with direct results. I actually mentioned this idea to Representative Peggy Judd in my response to her and had my draft saved when I jumped over here and saw this. I went back, posted this link on my response finished my email and sent it off.
  18. THIS WAS MY RESPONSE Hopefully it's not too bad from an average joe who cares. Representative Judd, I am very disappointed in your position on HB 2072. First off, the AZSFW has only recently become the "Big Ogre" as you put it. AZ critter groups that support this org are leaving and withdrawing their support and also taking a postion to oppose HB 2072. To say "only" 54 tags will be auctioned and that they will know become more accessible is outrageous right on its face. First off, the AZ public applies for these (some of the most coveted of all big game tags AZ has to offer, the cream of the crop) for years and years just to draw one. My friend Hank Brundage is on his 17th year without an AZ Elk tag (has never had an AZ elk tag) because he only applies for the best hunts. More accessible for who? Only someone with a deep pockets will even be able to touch these tags new auction tags I'm am truly sorry, but your knowledge on the issue at hand is skewed and incorrect. I know this bill addresses locked gates. So upon awarding the AZSFW these best of the best tags to auction to the highest bidder, what will we achieve? Example 1 You and your neighbor are both ranchers with massive tracts of land. You leave your gates open and allow trespass and hunting on your property, however you fellow rancher and neighbor does not, he has no trespassing signs and no hunting signs. Now, with the passage of HB 2072 or something like it, the AZSFW will to come to hunter's rescue and pay your neighbor to unlock his gate during the hunting seasons. Sounds good right? How on earth does common sense not kick in and everyone draw up the conclusion that now everyone will start locking their gates so they too can't get paid for trespass. This is a joke! The only thing your going to get from paying people to unlock access or to trespass on their land is more LOCKED GATES! I have an idea, since WE the taxpayers are subsidizing probably every rancher in the state who graze X amount of cattle per sq mile on their land. Why don't we just demand an open gate policy policy for licensed hunters and fisherman if they want to have the taxpayer assist with their tax liabilities. Now that's simple and a great incentive for everyone without privatizing wildlife and auctioning off tags to the affluent. Now lets talk predators, a law was just recently passed to limit the mountain lion season in AZ where it used to be all year. Where was AZSFW on this? This is a play by the greenies as you put it. Yes, I agree I believe a simpler method which would consist of a bounty for coyote hides making it a profitable market to harvest them, this would be all the incentive hunters need to go out and predator hunt. The hides aren't worth enough in the current market so these should be bought at a higher price and resold at a loss on the open market by the organization chosen. I know that is a pretty stupid business model, but the money spent would be far less and provide far better results than other options. You speak of Utah, well this confirms what I have said above and has nothing to do with privatizing big game tags. Please read link below UTAH PASSES NEW BOUNTY LAW ON COYOTES APPROVED BY THE DNR http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31752&pid=300075&st=0entry300075 The Game and Fish department already does a fine job offering lots of youth camps and opportunities to beginners in the field. I will be taking my two sons to the 4A/4B youth turkey hunting camp put on this year. I would hope you at least pay attention to the opposing side of HB 2072, when I tell you that everyone I know and speak to are adamantly opposed, it is the truth. Please, I ask to do more research on the issue, if nothing else make sure it doesn't pass this year so EVERYONE can gather the facts. You say that average sportsman are also for it, please take a look and one of the most active hunting forums where most of the members are from AZ and they have a section with nothing but political topics and right now it is HOT with HB 2072 topics! http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/index.php?showforum=20 Please take the time to read up on the links I have provided to you. Very, very concerned citizen taking a time out from his life, his family to make sure this doesn't pass. Thank you for time, I look forward to speaking with you in the future. 2072 moving

This is bs, please update as soon as possible. I' ve been working with some friends and we have been emailing our reps to oppose HB 2072. Also, I cannot get a response on their position. Just generic answers and thanks for my concerns. Is this normal?

    CC Hits

Nothing for me yet.... I spoke with a rep for chase visa and she said any pending charges will show up online immediately and the actual charge might take a few days. So be sure and look close if you go online and check your account. Good luck to all, but only after we draw our tags for my family!

  22. This is a good topic. I've been wanting to start predator calling and so do my boys. This can give us a better idea about what it's really gonna be like when the rookies head out to give it a try! haha

When a bull elk scrapes off his velvet...

Just a quick funny to add to this post... My friend and neighbor shot a 5x5 bull with his bow and decided to do a euro mount since he wasn't a big bull. His wife decided those antlers were dirty and needed some cleaning. She just knew he would be happy that she went to all that effort while he was at work. He came home from work to a scrubbed, stark white pair of antlers on the wall.... They are now in the garage hanging out with the other crap piled up in their garage! Those darn dirty antlers!
