6TH ANNUAL CWT.com MARSHALL LAKE GET-TOGETHER
gotcoues replied to Lance's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
We'll be looking for it. I was hoping to get there before dark, but I doubt it now. Just filled up outside of Phx at carefree highway. Anyone know a good place to fill up on water for the trailer in Flag? -
Hopefully the "reboot" works. That's more advice than Covert gave him. Good to know

6TH ANNUAL CWT.com MARSHALL LAKE GET-TOGETHER
gotcoues replied to Lance's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
My family and I will be headed up on Thursday. We're looking forward to saying goodbye to the Tucson heat for a few days. Any tips for fishing at Mary or Ashurst? We're hoping to catch more than a sunburn. Looking forward to meeting a few more folks from the site. -
My wife says the same thing, she only allows me to have one as well. One of each kind for me, and one each kind for her!

Online draw system fails AGAIN!
gotcoues replied to Gr8 White Jr's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I apply right at the end every year. I don't have to wait as long for the results to come out as you suckers who put in early! SIMPLE MATH RIGHT THERE BOYS. Plus you dummys who put in early, geez, don't you know your apps are on the bottom and have little to no chance of getting pulled out of the top hat by Susie the gal who pulls out the names for each hunt. I'm glad everyone doesn't know these trade secrets, you can thank me later. Good luck to everyone on the draw, but only after we draw our tags first. -
Sportsman's guide has the cheapest ladder sticks that I've seen. Between my friends and I we have 5 sets. 5 piece set ups, 20ft total length and the are rock solid. I combined pieces and was at 30 plus feet for my Wt hunt in Jan.

I'm speechless...... I 've never heard of "mobile dentistry " practice in public schools before. My family andI live in Tucson. This is wrong on so many levels.

I signed up for a life membership w the AES. My goal is to become a life member of atleast one wildlife org a year. I've been hooked on the outdoors for almost 20 years, it's who I am. It's time for me to give back to something that has given me so much. I really enjoyed working on Ben Brochu's last water catchment project along side other CWTailers and can't wait to go again, this time with my kids as well. With the blessing of my family (they put up with me being in the field a lot), I've also decided to completely sponsor a youngster each year on a deer hunt. The plan is to take a beginner or someone who hasn't ever hunted and provide a mentored hunt at no cost to them or their family. With the help of a couple close friends, I'm going to take them to the range once and haul my trailer to our campsite for their deer hunt. Hopefully this will become a success and I can introduce a few new people to the sport. I plan on encouraging parent participation and recruit some veterans to help glass and help in camp. I'll keep you guys posted as this first hunt unfolds. I look forward to meeting more good folks from CWT and the hunting community in general.

Thank you for sharing your adventure, simply amazing! Congratulations on some awesome archery trophies.

I'm a big fan of the 4 blade wac-em broadheads, my old bow a firestorm lite would shoot field points and wac ems in an identical pattern. I have never paper tuned or messed with my archery equipment in that manner at all. I put lots of hours behind the bow and my groups have always been acceptable at my ranges. I purchased my new bow, an AXE 6 and quickly fell in love. I found a new anchor point and my groups were lights out all the way out to 60 yards. I also shot regularly out to 100 yards and was very happy with my accuracy. Here's my problem, after reading all of your guys posts, I'm behind in the whole bow tuning thing I guess. With my new set up, the wac ems shoot 6 inches to the right at twenty yards and that is compounded at longer ranges. I adjusted my sights back for bullseye at twenty and everything else fell into place all the way out to longer ranges. Now that it's the off season I adjusted my bow back to field points. So based on the majority of your guys answers, I need to tune my new bow and I won't have that problem. Also, I was surprised no one mentioned Rage 2 blade broadhead. I just watched a video on their site and the entrance wounds were unbelievable from these heads. I've seen a couple deer shot with these and the wounds were similar to what was in the video. I just ordered a pack of 125s to see if they will fly like my field points. I DO NOT want to adjust my bow for broadheads vs. field points, so this is why I was going to try the rage heads out. I really enjoyed reading everyone's post. I certainly shoot as well as most people I know, but obviously lack in "tuning" knowledge. From my experience, I will never shoot a light arrow set up for elk again. I used my light arrow set up on elk and came to regret my that decision in the worst way. Good luck to you on your hunt.

I've been really happy with Compass Bank, lots of locations considering they are in all the Albertsons stores as well. I've had free business checking since 02'and personal checking for as long as I can remember. I might have been grandfathered into the "free accounts" though. Good luck and thank you for ditching B of A if this stands to be true. I won't shop at Costco anymore because of their stance on the 2nd, but I do use their American Express for %4 back on gas. I assume they're losing money on me and my 3/4 ton with the hemi!

Which unit and how many points do you have for goat? My buddy and I are thinking this year or next for sure on Utah speedgoat. Good luck to you guys.

My wife's boss lives inside the city limits where the houses all have decent size parcels and she backs up to an enormous wash. Problem; Three coyote sightings this week alone on video surveillance. One of which is a coyote sitting on the back wall, dropping in the yard and snatching one of her dogs and hopping the wall with it. For some reason it dropped the pooch when it reached the street and with a steep vet bill, the dog is going to make it. The property owner has asked if I can help kill some of the coyotes that are living in the wash behind her house. Any suggestions?

Congrats to all the youth that tagged out! Nothing better than family fun in the sticks.

About time! Woo Hoo Jackson! Nice job buddy Love the pictures you guys, great job on everything!

12 for this past draw and no goat tag for AZ yet After I draw my first rifle tag, it will be archery applications only from then on out.
-
Square the bonus points, sit out one or maybe two years for bull elk and goat after you draw one and change to top 30% for top bps. Its simple and fair and I bet ANYONE who has waited endlessly for theses tags would agree, plus many of the "lucky guys" would too.

Coyote hunting within city limits
gotcoues replied to gotcoues's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
I love to whack one of these suckers with my bow, not sure if I have the time to stand guard though. I'll bet some low volume calling would bring em right in if they are in the area. Is trapping on your own property within the city limits legal? -
I believe when G & F tried to access the funds and were denied, then you are correct, you will lose your BP for the year and your loyalty point. Hopefully they have an exception for this type problem because you already paid the application fee in the beginning of the draw process. I'm not a fan of debit cards, don't even own one. It is my understanding that a credit card protects you against fraud better than the bank debit card. Also, I've used the same CC for all in state and out of state draws and license fees. This shows a pattern of Game and Fish charges over the years so the charge doesn't get denied for reasons of "suspicious charges". Lastly, I call ahead and authorize any charges from any Game and Fish departments. I'm sorry to hear of this happening to you and others, I would be crushed if I was wearing your shoes. Good luck getting this resolved

There has been a lot of crickets and not much else regarding Elkholic and his posts. I'm interested to hear a well respected member of this website thought the survey was worded in a poor fashion. Possibly, to skew the results in one way or another. I would also like to see the survey, I hope someone will post the survey. Has the ADA still not come out with an official statement for or against what ASFSW was/is trying to do?

This is classic, kudos to you Dad!

Next year I'm steering clear of cwt for the last couple weeks till the draw posts on the G&F website. You guys are killing me slowly by giving me some sense of hope. I go online and check for pending charges and I only see my haircut and soda fom circle K from today. Aaaaaaaaggghhhhhh!

I've only used normal on all my set ups. I try and do some weed maintenance or else I get quite a few blanks. I don't think any deer can avoid getting snapped on normal. I've been tempted to try low, but fear I will lose a picture of the "the big one" ha ha

Last year I took my boys into Unit 1, we hunted the last weekend with one of my good friends and his daughter. We had a blast, but the turkeys were almost completely non-responsive to calling. We all came home with great memories, but no birds. I would like to get them out for opening weekend this year and was bummed Unit 1 is now closed for the jr hunt. Does anyone have any recommendations or information on where a youth camp is being held? We're not really bird hunters so to speak and could probably use some help. We are located in Tucson and would be hauling a camper, so closer the better I guess. I would love to try and get my boys on some gobbling and strutting birds. They are both wanting to give round 2 a try. Thanks for any info in advance

Representative Peggy Judd District 25
gotcoues posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Hi Justin, I apologize. I must have missed that. I wasn't expecting you to ask. So many of my letters are just telling me their side of the issue. I am happy to be receiving information and opinions, but appreciate the chance to tell you what I think too. I do not see Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife as the big Ogre they are made out to be. I truly feel that they are embracing an opportunity here, with an entrepreneurial spirit that is valid and genuine. I realize that the expo they would set up would be a business venture for them and their subsidiary wildlife organizations (17 of them, I believe), and like the Utah example everyone is giving, would be a fundraiser for the re-introduction and betterment of wildlife that are hunted in AZ. AZ game numbers are depleting and therefore the available tags are depleting as well. The problems stem from a variety of things, from activists protecting predators to forest roads being shut down. The number of tags, that the expo will purchase will only be 54. I keep hearing that it is a very large number. These tags would actually be easier to access through the expo than through the regular draw procedures (even when there is a priority status). I have only heard this and have no official documentation, but it makes sense. I could get numbers on this if you would like. I am hearing the Utah's expo is really not creating a better hunting environment in Utah, but I have been given some statistics that tell otherwise. I would be happy to scan and send these to you. A trend that is depicted in the charts I have is that: Until the Early 2000s (when the expo in Utah began) Utah's big game across the board, was depleting at approx. the same rate at Arizona's. In the last 10 years, Arizona continues to give out less tags and less harvest is made each year, while in the same 10 years Utah has had a steady and even astonishing increase in available game and number of tags given. These are graphs with no reference.. so I am currently trying to get the references for this information. In a few words, it doesn't look all that bad to me. I am willing to do about anything to increase the experience and availability of big game hunting in our state and am looking for other solutions that even compare to Utah's success story. People keep saying they have good ideas to accomplish this battle we must fight against the environmentalists and also just the general good management of our big game. This is the only good (or bad to some), idea I have seen. If you come up with something, or hear of someone with an idea. I would be happy to have that information. I still do appreciate your concern and your opposition at this time. I would also like to note. It seems that there are a lot of regular, everyday hunters in favor of this bill also. It is an interesting debate, but I am not sure time will be on this legislations side. We are very near the end of session. It may have to be a discussion for another day. Sincerely, Representative Peggy Judd Arizona House of Representatives, District 25 1700 W. Washington, Suite H Phoenix, AZ 85007 602-926-5836
