I agree with desert bull. Follow the cows and look for old rut sign if your new to the area. In my experience when cattle first move in the elk will leave but usually come back. Onother reason you might see less bulls is because they are changing patterns right now. They are strpping velvet and becoming loners again. I'm assuming you know there are good bulls in the area. If you find the cows, the bulls will show for the rut. Good luck!

Seems like I've tried every load combo for my 300 ultra. I can't get less than a 2inch group at 100yds. Anyone care to share what works for them? Maybe I can figure out what I'm doin wrong. I get 1/2inch groups with factory ammo. I load for 6mm and 30-06 with great results. Any help would be great.

I've got your number I'll give you a call when I get a chance. My dad has an elk hunt that I would like him to use my ultra on. Just tired of spending the money on factory ammo.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I've still got alot of work to do. RUM seems more complicated than smaller calibers. I've got alot of hunts to do over the next few months then I'll be back on the range. I'll let you guys know what I come up with. Thanks again!

Good to know. I've used 180 with same results. But why would 150 and 180gr factory shoot perfect? Maybe I'll go to under 90gr of powder and see what happens.
-
The best results I've even come close with is 95gr of rutumbo with 150gr Hornady sst. Federal primers. Once fired brass from the same gun. I don't have a chroni so I couldn't tell you the varience in fps. I relize the ultra has to be more precise so I hand measure powder and check case length. I know I've got to be missing something.

I love the "fair chance and hunter ethics concerns". Using dogs to tree lions and bears...........hmmmm. How long do you think until they try to ban dogs? Mark Think I read in hunting illistrated they banned hounds in CA. All the CA hunters need to head east so the rest of them can fall into the ocean already

Here's one of my other spots. Zoomed in on what looks to be a decent buck.

For the last few years the pigs had almost vanished in this area, until recently. Now they are everywhere. I'm sure glad to see them back. They are fun to chace. After the deer huntings over of course

I apologize for any bad feelings!!!!! I should think before I speak. I should say I ran into a guy a couple years back on the Blue during an archery hunt. He had one of your stickers on his truck. I think it was a silver toyota or nissan. They were shooting rifles across a canyon at rocks from the road. My brother was in a blind in that canyon. When I confronted him, he became very irrate and vulgar. Every time I saw him after that he had a truck full of hunters that would jump out at anything that had fur. He said he was one of you guys during our first encounter. I realize he might have been just talking out his rear and not one of your guys. AGAIN I APOLOGIZE IF I'VE DONE YOU ANY WRONG!!!!

Good bucks. Had alot more but files are to big. Hope you enjoy!!

I have same hunt. I have never seen any deer there though. We're going to start with an archery hunt in Aug to get familiar with the area Anywhere from Globe to 7mile wash is good. So is the Pinals. Haven't hunted there in a few years but use to do real well in those places. Hope it helps

Anyone know how to post pics if the files are to big? I suck with computers! It took me 5min to type this!!

I'm going to let my wife have at it first. We are going after the tall narrow buck in these pics or a real wide buck that is in one of my other spots. I'll have the video camera ready!
