Stoney Pass SE of Silverton looking SE toward the Rio Grand Pyramid @ 13,500+ feet. This is the headwaters of the Rio Grande in Colorado...........for you New Mexico boys. The Pyramid is the 3rd peak in the background from the left in this pic. Doesn't look like the highest but it is. Been thinkin' about climbing it for 20 years. Think its about time? My faithful, never-has-let-me-down traveling partner.........my Rubicon.

CHD, You need to change your tag line to read: "Sarcasm and Button Pushing, Two of The Finer Services I Offer" Way to go CHD you pushed another one of those buttons, but I think you knew you'd get a volatile mixed response, isn't that what you are looking for? Wetmule, I resemble that remark! Actually, there are now a lot of REALLY good, intelligent, knowledgeable, experienced, OPINIONATED, OUTSPOKEN, hard-debating hunters on this forum. Plus lots of GREAT animule and trophy room pics. I've always wanted that for this forum. Its kinda neat to watch 'em go! I've taught 'em well! No holding back here! Even a tired, worn-out ooooooooooooold timer like Mr. Quimby is enjoying getting into it with somebody now. Wow................I'm impressed and happy. And, Stanley, of course I have an opinion on this one. Do you think I would actually disappoint you? I indeed have personal experiences with this topic. My opinion just might make this thread get ugly tho, and you know how I am the "getty-longy" type and avoid ugliness on discussion forums. Also, I'm too busy to post as it will be lengthy plus I'm still in the process of interviewing my second shift of body guards. So, bear with me, okay?

CHD - The real story of why he left Utah
CHD replied to DesertBull's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Top 10 reasons why CHD left Utah 10. No bars in Green River 9. No bars in Vernal 8. No bars in Moab (oh wait, I meant Monticello) 7. All state owned liquor stores 6. State owned liquor stores few and faaaaaaaar between, and closed on Sunday 5. State owned liquor stores close @ 7:00 PM 4. No strip joints in the entire state 3. No porn shops in the entire state 2. No porn channels on cable TV And, the #1 reason why CHD left Utah.......... 1. No single women over the age of 16 -
Dang, this forum sure has changed. I remember not too long ago when Lark and Wetmule and I used to have civil, level-headed, deep discussions (without insulting or degrading each other) about convicted poachers and liars who got rich from their dirty deeds. Those were the good 'ol days. Now, the forum visitors forsake a great trophy room photo thread for an argumentative one. It's now just too antagonistic and combative for me. I just don't know how much longer I can hang around here............cuz I am a timid soul.

Whoa there .25, Anybody ever tell you not to drink and post on the same night? Mine is a legit curiosity. Amanda hunts a great deal and has some nice animals. I wonder what her trophies look like on her walls?
-
Soooooo.........Amanda, What does the inside of a hunting lady's home look like??? C'mon now, don't be shy. I'm really curious. And please don't tell us your hubby won't let you hang your mounts in the living room.

Deerslam, No wifey, huh? LOL

Great post Stanley! Nothing like a change of scenery from right here in my living room. Yeah, I watch the heck out of "The Deadliest Catch". Would you believe I'm considering giving up my cushy, safe desk job to become a Bering Sea crab fisherman? No bossy secretaries to fight with on a crab boat! Doug, that will be one heckuva trip. I envy you.

Doug, I'm REALLY after a super duper Coues buck like Matthew posted here. What a great animal!!! Really don't feel the need anymore to whack these magnificent animals............except one like Mathew's..........if I can ever get one in my sights. I would like to make a floor pedestal mount of him or maybe even a lifesize. Coues deer are such beautiful animals.......one of the most beautiful, IMO. Also, I'm looking forward to a lifesize javelina as well. Not beautiful, but unique. Anybody else have any pics of your Coues buck mounts???

DNA Test Confirms Rare Grizzly-Polar Bear Species By Digital Journal Staff Digital Journal ? A DNA test of a bear shot in Canada?s Northwest Territories has revealed the animal was a mix between polar bear and grizzly. Researchers believe it is the first time this has ever been discovered in the wild. Jim Martell, a U.S. hunter in Canada?s Northwest Territories, was paid a reported $50,000 CAN ($45,000 US) to hunt polar bears. Shot on April 16 by the Idaho native, local media began describing the animal as a ?grolar bear?, a ?pizzly? and Martell?s personal favourite, a ?polargrizz?. In an interview with The National Post, Martell said, ?Everybody thought it was a Polar bear, and then they started looking more and more and they seen other features that resembled some of a Grizzly as well.? The bear looked like a polar bear but with strange colouration. It had thick, creamy white fur usually found on polar bears. But it also had traits of grizzlies such as long claws, a humped back, a shallow face and brown patches around its eyes, nose, back and on one foot. Scientists with the Northwest Territories? Department of Environment and Natural Resources looked at the animal?s genetic makeup compared to samples taken from both polar bears and grizzlies. The results confirmed a very rare hybrid of both types of bear, and perhaps the first recorded ?polargrizz? found in the wild. More tests are currently being performed to determine the bear?s age and find out if the mother was a polar bear or grizzly. Geneticists have linked the two species, believing grizzlies migrated north about 250,000 years ago to hunt seals. Over time, their fur turned white and the polar bear species was born. Up until now scientists believed it to be nearly impossible for the two species of bear to mate, as both bears mate at different times of the year, and grizzlies mate on land while polar bears mate on ice. In rare instances, polar bears and grizzlies have produced mixed offspring in captivity, but never in the wild. Roger Kuptana, Martell's hunting guide, told cbc.ca, ?Some of the elders here in town say in the past there's been grizzly sightings but usually they fight.? Martell?s tag permitted him to hunt polar bears, but officers were initially threatening to charge him with shooting a grizzly bear, an offence that would have put him in jail for one year.

Doug, that's a terrific wall pedestal of a beautiful Utah goat! Wish I had mine (actually, 1 of 3 UT goats I've taken) done like yours. Antelope make such beautiful, colorful mounts. Folks, don't ever hesitate to have yours mounted! I keep this hanging on the back wall of the closet in my spare bedroom behind a stack of junk. Here's a shot of the rest of the living room in my home here in Kingman. Obviously, a woman doesn't control my house decorating.

COOSEFAN, Love that photo! Gotta love the inquisitive looks on the faces of your ridin' mules! Never seen mules act like they cared, even when they did. Good luck. -
What's your best trophy or photo?
CHD replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
To me, the animal deserves all the credit in this deal for having such fantastic headgear and being such a magnificent representation of his kind. These bucks have been seen here before, but not by the newcomers to this forum. These bucks lived on public land. C'mon boys and girls......post some pics of your beautiful Coues bucks! Geez Bret........did them harmless mallards and that innocent, beautiful big bull elk do anything to you to deserve what you did to them? Holy cow, you oughtta be ashamed of yourself............ -
Don't know exactly which category to post these under, but here are some AZ bucks & bulls as well as some out-o-staters. Hope you dudes & gals enjoy! Would you have a look at this muley??? I had heard MANY reports of a new world record typical several years ago. The guy was a reclusive man from SW Colorado. Is this him??? Henry Mtns Utah 2004 Sportmans tag. Are you envious? I am. Can you imagine whacking a buck like this one? Have a look at this whopper Coues buck taken by the great dedicated hunter M. Dupperet. 114 net typical, holy cow. Taken by a buddy of mine in Colorado a few years ago. Does this turn you on???

Wow Scotty, nice trophy. Them things take up a lot of room in a house, huh? I just got done decorating the living room in my new house, and I swear my elk head takes up half of it. Thanks for posting the pic.

Okay .25-06, you caught me in a lie. I actually moved to Twodot, Montana, where I am a janitor for the school district. I am only claiming to be an AZ resident just to buddy up with you guys. Muley, I do indeed live and work in Kingman and have been here since late March. I don't know anyone except the 60 people who I work with in a professional office. BTW .25-06, I don't lie. The secret is.............to separate my neverending sarcasm...........from the truth. This ain't always easy is it partner, hehehe.

Everything is fine with my posts, Amanda. However.....everything is not fine with trophy hunting these days. It has really changed in the last 5 to 8 years, and not for the better. Me and many others are really sick of the Garth Carter's, the Ryan Hatch's, and the Doyle Moss' doing whatever it takes to kill these magnificent animals all in the name of $$$$$$ and selling hunts, vids, and magazines. It is sickening. The magazines like Eastmans, Trophy Hunter, and Muley Crazy and the latest DVD's are now filled with stories about big animals killed by the use and reward of $$$$$$$ and other immoral means. Finders fees are astounding, these days. The use of "gang hunting" has taught the common hunter and younger generation that "this is how you do it". 8 to 10 guys just to find and kill one big buck on the Strip? Why wouldn't you succeed and get your picture in a magazine using 8 buddies? How the heck is a big buck to survive an army coming after him? I am sick of it all. Trophy hunting is supposed to be about personal satisfaction...........and nothing else. It is supposed to be between you and the animal. Whatever happened to using your knowledge of the animal's habits and behaviors and hard work to harvest an animal..............all by your lonesome? Now we have gang hunting, chute planes, trail cams, 700 yard rifles, huge finders fees, and private land raised animals being utilized instead of good old fashioned hunting knowledge. I'm about done with it all. And, some of these animals I've posted here may have been taken this way. But I dunno which, if any, were. I am posting these for motivational purposes only so that you all will know that there are big animals out there. Get out there and do it ALL yourself on public land. It is sooooooo much more satisfying that way. Here are a few more pics. This one was in the magazines a long time ago. Scores 93.5 SCI, taken in New Mexico at least a decade ago. Late Wyoming hunt......dunno which unit. Scores 383 B & C net. British Columbia 2005. 218 gross frame. This one's been all over the net. This is one MONSTER muley! Another British Columbia buck from 2005. 217 typical frame. Holy cow. A Washoe County, NV buck from 2005. Scores 83" w/ breakage. Another 2005 Wyoming bull, 365 net P & Y.

Lotsa talk here about October rattlers. Is this one big enough to keep you guys applying for the December hunts only? What do ya suppose this one's been eating?

Somethin' ya don't see everyday!
CHD replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Several years ago I was scouting for a big non-typical muley on Moosehead Mtn in unit 10 in Colorado in August or September. As is common with me, I laid down on a level spot in the sagebrush at about noon and took a nap. Some animal noises close by woke me up. At first they sounded funny, and then I decided that they were elk calf calls..........very close. I got up in the tall sage expecting to be trampled by elk, but couldn't see any elk. The calls were really close, too. So I moved toward them with curiosity, and eventually found the sources of the animal sounds. It was a large guy porcupine........................romancing a lady porcupine. I got to witness one of those rare spectacles in nature. Evidently.............it is just as painful to make the little ones............as it is to give birth to 'em, LOL. -
Would someone please confirm for me that the above pics are now showing??? Here's some more. Cactus bull, Colorado unit 21. Idaho eastern whitey 2005. Nevada 033 "The Sheldon" 2005. 193 gross.
