Sunday Morning Go To Meeting Buck
desertsheep replied to standman's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Awesome buck you got there. Congrats. You bow hunters are puttin the smack down on them. -
Most of your 100" bucks tend to have 12"-14" of mass. It take's a big buck to have 15+ inches of mass. I've only seen a hand full.

Alright I will give away my secert. Its call the 15" rule. Like shorty said you have to be able to pick them apart when guiding. So what I do when looking at a buck to decide if he' a shooter. 1. I look for 15" main beams 2. 15"of point length 3. 15"of mass That equals 45" x 2 = 90 plus a spread of 12-13 " you have a 100" buck On average your better bucks wont have 15" of mass so you will have to make it up in either point length or main beam. To be able to do this though I have taped hundreds of racks and sheds. This buck didnt need to be added up. The big ones will stick out.

A Week in the Chugach Mountains-Alaska-July 2008
desertsheep replied to AZP&Y's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Awesome pictures. Im not much of a fisherman but I would love to get up there and due another dall sheep hunt. I can almost see the rams in those snow covered Mtns. -
The 22-250 has been my throw in the truck gun when I go scouting. It has a custum barrel and a Mauser action. The barrel seems to be a little longer and a touch heavier than average. Its in good condition. Its a shooter.

I used this scope on my 300 RUM until I switched it out to a 6.5 x 20 x 50. I used the main cross hair for 300 yds second for 450 last for 600. You would need to take it out and shoot it to tell where the extrs cross hairs work for you and your set up. I dont shoot any thing but the 50mm on my larger caliber rifles. It take s the guess work out of those long shots.

GH, Maybe you shouldnt have suggested the hug to the wife. Might have led to something else. Like doing to dishes and vacuming. Since he's been gone. You guy's get your mind out of the gutter.
