First of all.....can't believe there isn't a handgun sub-topic here.... So can anyone chime in on the XP100 in .221 fireball value? It's an early version, 4 didget s/n, in excellent condition, original case and paperwork. Trigger recall completed in 1979. Thanks in advance!

Ok, I am buying it, next time I go to Tucson I'll bring it and look you up. I was there 3rd Thu 13th grade. Thank you for the detailed info.
-
Thanks! How do I tell that code? S/N is 6xxx.

All in excellent condition. Original case, repair tag from 1979 regarding safety recall. Some on Gun Broker going for $1000 plus, others can be found for $800, some forums place worth between $400-600. Funny, gun sold for $99 originally.

For this season in Arizona, I drew my second Gould's turkey tag, this one in 35A. I found out that Game and Fish holds a survey camp, sponsored by The Huachuca Gould's Chapter of The NWTF, a month before the hunt. Of course I participated in the survey, it was fun, plus I learned a lot about the unit and found some roosting areas. Excellent camp, nice folds and great food! Did I mention the various Dutch-oven cobblers? Opening morning I went in where 3 toms had been roosted, but they weren't there. I heard a faint gobble further up the canyon, so I moved a half-mile further in. It was light by now, so I set-up by a little meadow alongside a running Creek and began calling. I had a gobbler respond about 300 yards up the canyon. Next gobble he sounded closer, the next sounded farther away. I called again and he sounded closer! I strained my eyes looking thru the trees and brush looking for movement. Finally I catch sight of him, he's strutting and gobbling his way in! I was counting on him coming along the creek, but he was on the dirt road on the far side of the creek. As he passed behind a tree, I got my shotgun up on a knee and pointed that direction. I had ranged all parts of the area, so I knew if I had a clear shot I could take him. He continued strutting and gobbling down the road, but there was a lot of brush between us. As I followed him with the muzzle, the road was angling away, when he got to be straight out in front of me, he passed through a clear spot, so I fired-dropped him in his tracks! Turned out to be a 50 yard shot. He was a nice tom! Weighed 20.5 lbs, had a thick 11" beard and 1" spurs. Checked the time: 5:50 am. Beautiful tom! Thank you! -
There were 5 in our group, only 4 hunters. A friend bought his son this hunt as a college graduation gift. We Saw lots of bucks, mostly 90-95", some 100" plus and a couple of giants that we caught glimpses of. Brian shot first, but his gun was off, so he had to sight it in again later. We spotted a nice buck on the next ridge, 500 yards away, so I got as close as I could from the ridge we were on, which closed the gap to 300 yards. We watched them for a couple of hours, either feeding behind shrubs, or they'd bed down in the thick stuff. That gave me time to find the best way to setup for the shot. Ended up using a nice V-notch in an Oak tree. There were two other bucks with the one I was after, so we really had to keep an eye on them. They got up again and started feeding, the bigger buck disappeared behind a large bush. Watched it for about 40 more minutes on and off through my scope. I could only see the Bush in the scope at 16x, so I radioed Brian, who was still at the top of the ridge, to tell me if he saw it step out. My eye was starting to twitch from looking through the scope so much, lol. After a while more, I looked over my scope and saw a deer behind the Bush walking away. Quickly getting back into the scope, I saw it was my deer, and about to disappear over the top! Figuring it was now 350 yards, I put the second crosshairs on the TDC reticle behind the front shoulder, as it began going behind another bush. After firing I heard the "whack", then I hoped I had a good hit. Wondering what happened to my radio spotter, I took the radio out of my pocket to check. I somehow had turned it off! I turned it back on and was told I dropped him in his tracks. After climbing up to him, he wasn't as big as I thought, or wanted, but it's a cool looking buck. Hit him right where I aimed, bullet lodged under the Hyde opposite side, in front of that shoulder. Later, I recovered the Nozzler accubond bullet and the yellow polymer tip! The rest of the hunt went well, everyone got a nice buck, but all under 100 inches, in fact mine turned out to be the biggest at 96 1/8. Frank the grad also shot a huge female mountain lion! Weird thing, when we looked in its mouth to see the teeth, there was a whole, unchewed eyeball in there! Smaller than our bucks' eyes, could have been a fawns or a javelina. Nice crested saguaros we saw. Frank holding the eyeball. The eye that was in its mouth. Big paw and claws. My buck had a white nose. Oak tree I used for the shot. My deer was on that far ridge top.

Went out with a couple of friends on the early hunt last weekend. Saw 2 nice toms 1/4 mile from camp on the way in, so I was encouraged! But didn't see or hear any gobbles or yelps opening day. Turned out that the hens were in groups and the toms were in separate groups. Didn't have any luck Sunday, or Monday early morning. They weren't talking. Mid-Monday morning we drove into a different area and I heard some hens yelping up on a ridge. My friend Jorge got out there to work them, while Terry and I drove over a small hill. That area looked great, had a meadow with a dirt area, we saw lots of tracks, strut marks and where they were "bathing" in the dirt. Called there for a while, then moved up into the tree line and found a nice clearing, leading to a grassy saddle. Called there about 40 minutes, had to pee, so I got up, walked out toward the clearing about 20 feet. So I'm doing my thing when I look over to my left and see 5 nice toms feeding my way! Lucky for me, I was "done". I just sunk down on my hands and knees and crawled back to my seat and shotgun, hoping the birds wouldn't see me. There was some brush they had to get by, and I was worried they'd be too close together to get a shot for the short time they'd be in the clear, so I decided to shoot the first bird as he cleared the bush. It was a 29 yard shot, none of the other toms shock-gobbled or made a sound when I shot that tom. He weighed 19.75 pounds and had a 10" beard and long sharp spurs. 9:00 and I'm done! Jorge ended up getting a small tom at 8:00, Terry had a couple of chances later that day, but couldn't seal the deal. I stayed a couple of more days, we saw over 300 birds in 3 days, mostly hens. I saw 3 toms together on Tuesday, one had a huge and thick "paint brush" beard that I've only seen pictures of (back east birds). I know where I'm going opening morning next year!

Oh man, that sucks! Be careful loading up this year. I'm heading out next Friday, will be going after a bird I saw last year that had the biggest paint brush beard I've ever seen. Will post results, good or otherwise.

I put in today for elk, deer and Oryx. Their website is so sweet, easy, fast and foolproof. Don't understand why Arizona doesn't have a user friendly system, they're out there! Good luck on the draws!

You must buy the hunting licence to apply, even if you may not draw a tag. -

New Mexico charges up front for tags, but you knew that. 😏

18 points going into this draw. I'm 65 now, wondering if I'll get a tag while I can still hunt.

When did they hit your card?

Do you think all the tags are taken?
