My first Arizona whitetail hunt- 36C
Couestracker replied to AndrewJ's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
p.s. Andrew, For glassing, get some good glass and I like the eye - cups that shield your eyes from the sun. 15 X 56's with a tripod are great for picking out deer. A good comfortable chair to sit in is important to me. I also take a good butt pad for the chair, or if I find a good place to sit on ground or a rock. Plus it comes in handy for knee's while you tend to your deer! Good luck next time! -
My first Arizona whitetail hunt- 36C

Really good read with interesting points that we knew but had maybe forgotten. Just wait until you get one in your sights....that's a rush....but putting your tag on one is over the top! Welcome to Arizona coues deer hunting and the best Web site on the WWW. -
That's a great buck! Congratulations.

Ha ha, good one!

The hunt came in this last Friday and if you only shot 1 pig in 2013 then you can harvest another on this non=permittag. If you were to shoot one on December 31 you are allowed to shoot another on Jan 1st as long as you bought another non-permit tag. Normally you wouldn't be allowed to shoot two in the same unit as your tag was issued for but I was told from azgfd you just buy another non=permit and Jan 1st starts another year. So it's possible you could shoot 3 pigs in 3 days. One on Dec. 31st/non-permit, one on Jan. 1st/non-permit or where you were drawn for archery, and another left over archery tag. Sweet! TJ Hey TJ, are you going to go out with this tag this year (or next)? That'd be fun! Give our best to Peg......missing that spread and great company we enjoyed at your house that Christmas.

Cool! 2 early spring turkey hunts to look forward to. I bought a San Carlos tag last spring and got drawn for unit 27. This will be the first time back to 27 since the Wallow fire after hunting there 4 or 5 years prior. Anyone hunted there since the fire?

Very nice buck and great shot too. Can't wait to hear about your Mexico hunt. Good luck to you on that! -
That's just priceless! Can't have too many memories (or pictures) like that. Very rewarding for you sir.

I was worried it was a cyber attack by tree huggers and all the prior posts would be gone! I know, paranoid......

That is a awesome looking buck! Congratulations on a very unique coues. I can't wait to hear the story and get the score (plus more pictures). -
I'm stoked! Drawn for the HAM hunt and picked up a leftover archery tag today. A friend and I are going out in January. Good luck to all in the hunts the next few months.

Hey guys, what hunt are you referring to? All fall javelina hunts are for juniors, plus I didn't even see where 26M was a choice. Am I missing something? I'd want to hunt them in December in 26M if I could. Please enlighten me on this....thanks, Couestracker.

Great story on a awesome hunt! I can't wait to see it in person. Congratulations on a super buck.

The refund that came with the tags was the difference between the old fees and next years. I still don't get it as the tags are next years, must be paying this years fees.
-
Recieved my early unit 27 tag today....and my refund. If everyone else got the same, G + F will be in the red fast. Anyone else get a tag and refund? Couestracker

Very cool! You guys found and took pictures of some amazing bucks! Awesome hunt and congratulations to all. Thanks for sharing it with us. -
Awesome video's! I guess when you don't have a gun, you climb a tree after 'em, rope it, yank it to the ground and stab it to death......Holy $hit!

Wow, that's a big cat! What did he weigh? Congrats to you both.

I was wanting to get a Contour camera until I found out that they went out of business. Then I saw an ad for the Garmin. Anyone check them out yet or have any input?

Totally awesome! Great story and pictures of the hunt and family. Congratulations on all that plus an awesome trophy deer. -
This past October I shot a 2x3 coues on a full run quartering away at 250 yds, just before it escaped off a flat meadow into a draw (More luck than skill). It ran (flew?) 60 yds and piled up. The 140GR .270 WSM Nozzler accubond entered between ribs, continued through vitals and was found under hide in off-side lower neck. Recovered weight was 80gr.
