Getting permission to hunt private land
Couestracker replied to ylclaret's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The best way is speak to the G&F officer for that unit. He will know who the owners are and will advise you about access. I did this once and got the owners phone number! I've been hunting there ever since. -
Stage 1 still no campfires, but target shooting ok.

How about spare tire cover with CWT logo? I need one for my Ranger trailer. That would be awesome too! -

Don't get me wrong guy's......I LOVE ARIZONA and all it has to offer (more than New Mexico I think). I still like going over there to hunt/visit when I can (or get a tag).

Make sure you have hotel reservations. We went about that time of year once...the hotels were ALL BOOKER for the fair. We drove 60 miles to SantaFe and still had to stand in line to get a room. Riding the tram up Sandia Peak rates up there, drive up to SantaFe and go to old town, must see there is the OLD church with the miracle stairway. If you do nothing else, you GOTTA go to Bandelier National Monument just west of SantaFe. This is a huge Indian ruin area, take the walk up the canyon to the kiva in the cliff. You won't be disappointed. This is the most amazing place I've ever been to.

unBELIZEable! our fabulous carribean vacation
Couestracker replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in The Campfire
What an awesome vacation! Very much enjoyed the great photos you took Amanda. And that video was amazing! I already wanted a Go Pro camera, now even more so. Thank you for sharing.....might be our next big vacation! -
I lived in Albuquerque for 4 years and love New Mexico. I've been hunting there for 10 years, deer each year, a few elk hunts and a bunch of turkey hunts. Yes, the food is awesome! I especially like the fact that it's not nearly as crowded and just about everyone waves at you on the road. I'd like to move there when I retire, but family issues prevent it.

*Monster Goat in the Dirt* 2014 Antelope Hunt
Couestracker replied to Flatlander's topic in Antelope Hunting
I'm looking forward to following your hunt through your posts. It'll be the next best thing to having my own tag. Thank you for posting for all to share, that's awesome. For the record, which unit are we, uh, you hunting in? -
Had my favorite dinner last night
Couestracker replied to Couestracker's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
Cut cerrano or jalapeño pepper in half, gut seeds, cut piece of venison to fit, sprinkle with McCormicks steak seasoning, wrap in 1/2 slice of bacon, affix with a toothpick lengthwise, grill meatside down first until bacon browns, then turn and brown other side. Try with jalapeño bacon from AJ's for extra punch. -
Big head and small ears=great bear! Very cool, are you going to pursue it in the fall?
-
That's cool! I have a fishing license too! Thanks for sharing those with the site.

I agree with Flatlander, it's awesome just the way it is. Very cool plaque as well. Does your friend make plaques as a hobby or for sale? I'd be interested in having some made if he's interested. Do you have a field photo of your bear and a story of your hunt?

Awesome recap of your excellent safari hunt. Very cool you and your wife were able to share the adventure. Beautiful collection of mounts as well. You're both very lucky indeed.

Thanks for the report Ammon. Sounds like it was a great banquet.

How did the Banquet turn out? I wanted to go but had a prior commitment. How about a report please? Thanks, Tommy
