Bad to the bone short tail! Congrats!

That buck rocks! Dark antlers are cool.....sounds like you have a "little black book" with watched coues! At any rate, looks like you got it figured out. Very cool! Congratulations on a great trophy and also to your brother for his nice buck.

Awesome buck and first post! Congratulations on a beautiful buck and welcome to the site.

They changed that the other day, but the totals are still from after the fall draw. Goes beyond rude.....to cruel!
-
I sure hope so....on both counts!

Very nice! Congrats on getting your trophy home.

Truly awesome you helped her in her quest. That smile says it all. Good job and congratulations to you both!

That's a pretty buck! Congratulations to you both, great job!

They still have the fall draw results on the phone. Logged in to check and saw they changed the red message from "bonus points are after the fall draw" to "bonus points are after the spring draw", so I'm thinking alright, they're up.......but NO!, still have the fall draw results.

REALLY? Tags are supposed to be mailed out today and we still don't have the draw results? Making us wait until Monday? Does that mean they're going to work the weekend to get them finalized? REALLY? And they have the gall to send out 2 Emails about other stuff and can't even explain to the THOUSANDS of people waiting to know so that they can start planning? REALLY? Awesome customer service right there.

Awesome, good job! Did you go out jumping tanks? -
Just called again, even though the tags are to be mailed by 11/21, the results won't be posted until Monday, 8am. WTH? Must be our punishment from all our negative criticism of the AZGFD draw "process".

Good luck on your hunt. The anxiety will be back for every tag!

Nice buck and photo of bigfoot. Congratulations!

Unit 29 success-another double-double, sort of, lol.
Couestracker posted a topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
My Chiricahua coues hunt was a lot of fun, but not many deer were seen. Sunday morning I saw a small buck and doe together, watched them briefly, then they disappeared into a thicket. Went back there Sunday afternoon and picked them up near the same spot. Tried stalking to them across the canyon at last light, but I'm sure that they heard me and were gone when I got to where they were feeding. Monday morning I saw a doe near the same area and watched her for quite a while. It was real windy. I watched her bed below a dead pine tree and while watching, saw the wind blow a piece from another dead tree that was near where the doe was, and out from under that tree flew the buck, spooked by the fallen tree piece. Game on! With the wind in my favor, covering both my noise and scent, I crossed the canyon again and approached from down wind, going to the ridge next to them. As soon as I got out of a ravine to get on the ridge top, I looked up to get my bearings, and through the only opening in the brush around, there were the 2 deer standing under their tree together, looking right at me! I didn't have a shot due to the buck being behind the doe, plus there was some thin brush between us. I lifted my binoculars to look at them, then lowered them a couple of times and they continued to just stand there together. I figured they were more scared of the wind then me at that point. I ducked down and circled around some brush to my right, still staying down wind, to try to get across from them and find a place to make a clear shot. I found a good clear spot, but they were both gone! Looking up hill, I saw one running, tail flagged, about 150 yards up the ridge. I ran up further to get a better view of the ridge they were on and then I saw the buck. He had run up the ridge a ways, then stopped and was looking back down hill. I waited and he started coming back down the ridge. I guess he didn't want to leave that spot. So I waited for him to present me with a broadside pose, then I took my opportunity. He had double main beams on both sides! A non-typical spike! Here's some pictures from the hunt. Double-double main beamed spike! He'd been awesome in a few years. The old Browning does it again! I took my first deer and elk with this BAR. My usual deer rifle has been accurized, waiting to get broken in. Picture is looking back to where I glassed up the deer from and where the Ranger is parked. I carried the buck back to the Ranger. Luckly it only weighed 50 lbs (weighed him back at camp ). Still, I don't know how much longer I'll be able to do this. A hot shower after all the work was awesome! Time to celebrate the success-KAH tequila is 110 proof! -
I'm annoyed! (and obviously whining) It's already 2 weeks past when the results came out last year! So much for practice makes perfect or getting better over time. Their process should be deep sixed! No, I don't feel better now. ☺

I spoke with Jeannie, Woods service will be held December 13th at Messengers Mortuary in Payson from 10:00 to 2:00. In honor of Wood, I humbly post these pictures of the mounts he did for me. The first one was my 10th called and shot fox. Then I brought him my muzzleloader coyote from New Mexico. I took him my best to date coues from unit 29.

Really sorry to hear about Woody. What a loss, heck of an outdoorsman, hunter, taxidermist and just a great person. I had the pleasure of meeting him through a friend of mine. Wood took me in as a friend like he'd known me for years. He did did a full mount fox, shoulder mounted a coues for me and did the most awesome full mount coyote, was able to put it back together after I nearly blew its hind quarter off. Woody will be missed by many I'm sure. RIP Woody.

Congratulations on sticking with your commitments, turning things around and making it right. Awesome that you were able to end that awful dry spell of no hunting success. That is going to be a very tasty steak! Congratulations!

That's too bad Keith, but at least you still had fun. I had a late archery bow hunt in 7W a few years ago with the same results.....fun but tag soup.
