Who's going bear hunting?
Couestracker replied to Couestracker's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I wanted to do that too, but for several years the bear hunt closed just before the deer opener, leaving me watching bears while looking for deer. Kinda frustrating! Now I'm retired and have unlimited vacation, so we planned a special hunt this year. -
Well, we're the same age for a day. Hoping you have a great day!

Good job tagging that awesome trophy!

Late on the 11th day of a 12 1/2 day hunt, after lots of fun encounters and many miles of hiking, 260 miles on the Ranger, I called in this bull to 40 yards. This is my first archery elk, prior archery hunting success has been only javelina. Huge thank you to friends and family who helped in one way or another. Especially my youngest brother Steven and our friend Andy, for taking me out on a guided style hunt. Man, did we get into some elk! They also dropped what they were doing (Andy missed dinner!) to drive out from Flagstaff when I called them to help with field recovery and skin him out. I'm a lucky and grateful man to have such great family and friends. This hunt was nothing short of epic! He went 40 yards and hooked his antlers on this tree. Who says you can't get a bull elk in a Ranger? Happy hunter!

Very awesome, congrats!

I went scouting for my elk hunt over the weekend in unit 7W. Saw more mule deer bucks than I did bull elk. Must be too early for them to be buggling, because I didn't hear any. Mule deer buck

I've seen on Facebook some folks have received their tags already. I haven't gotten mine yet, and I haven't seen on my #1 info source (CWT) that anyone else has either. So let's hear it, who's received their tag already?
-
Awesome Tommy. Glad you're going deer hunting. I didn't draw crap so it looks like maybe I might try a few days of archery hunting. TJ If I am unsuccessful, maybe I'll tag along if it's OK with you.

I am also solo hunting, early archery bull in 7W. Might have some company on the weekends, but otherwise alone. Must be nuts......nope, a hunter!

I'm standing at the kitchen window, in view of the mailbox. My wife had gotten the mail out earlier, and I'm like, should I? It's a vertical box, so you have to reach in to grab the mail. Yep, the box is summoning me. I go out and reach in, there is something in there. Yep, my deer tag. ☺

No, you don't need to be a member of PVCI to attend or buy into the raffle, anyone is welcome. Have fun and good luck! -
Bear Calling Seminar this Tuesday, August 2nd
Couestracker replied to kidso's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
That's awesome Keith! For clarification, this will be at Phoenix Varmint Callers, Inc monthly meeting, which is held at the Postal Union Hall, 3720 W Greenway Rd. Meeting starts at 7:00. Always a gun raffle at their meeting, tickets sold on the spot, drawing will be at end of meeting. Wish I could go, as I am hunting bear this year, but already have a road trip planned. -
Hey guys, thanks for all the input! I ended up getting a Mathews Halen 7! Should pick it up tomorrow or Sunday, can't wait!

A buddy and I drew early December whitetail in unit 29!
