    Mentored hunt in 19A success

Mentored a friend from Sweden on his first American big game hunt, in unit 19A. It was my first time hunting in this unit and my first Javelina mentoring gig. I spotted a herd late Friday morning running across a hilltop after hearing a couple of shots. After lunch, we hiked in looking for them to no avail, and we got hit by snow flurries! Saturday we hiked into an adjacent area, glassed up a couple of antelope. We were about to break for lunch when I spotted a herd back by the vehicle, 600 yards away. While I was watching 2 through my binos, a coyote came up to them and 1 javi chased it off! I counted 7 good sized Javis in the herd. We climbed down off the mesa we were on and got to within 50 yards. A couple of them heard us and ran off, but 1 stayed feeding, then presented a broadside shot for Hawke and he made a great shot. It made a 40 yard death run past us. The shot double lunged the boar. Hawke field dressed it and we headed back to camp to skin it out. He weighed 39.3 lbs. As it layed. Hawke with his first Javelina. Ready to skin it out.

Best choice for an AR optic

Eotech is a good choice, 4x flip-to-side magnifier puts me down range farther than 100yds.

    Wyoming draw odds

Re-read some of the info on their site. Could they possibly make it any more complicated??? Preference points are $31, I think that's up $1. Could not find a explanation of "special" antelope hunt. Probably doesn't matter for me, as I think where I'm wanting a tag (unit 57) doesn't show it as a special hunt, whatever that is. I have 7 points, 2 years ago it took 8 to draw, now it's 11. I don't know if I can get there from here, lol!

    Javelina's for donation

Not knocking you, but you need to learn how to cook it! Italian fennel sausage made with Javelina makes the best spaghetti and lasagna ever! Not to mention green Chile or pulled bbq so good you can't quit eating it. A friend made some jerky that's way better than anything you can buy, so now I want a dehydrator. To me, making something that people enjoy eating out of my hunting successes is rewarding in itself.

    What binos?

I have 10x42's around my neck. One time I had glassed the hills for quite a while and nothing. Got my 15x56's out of my pack and put on tripod. Found pigs on the hill I'd been glassing after a few minutes. Noted where they were, then looked through my 10's, couldn't see them. Definitely worth using big glass. Then I hiked up there and shot one with my bow.
