    Horny Toads

They are one of my favorite critters. I almost stepped on this big one while cutting firewood for deer camp in New Mexico.
  6. The question came up (thanks Sean), is it ok to leave it loaded, concern for moisture getting to powder? I have an inline, using white hots pellets. My thought is, loaded or not, the pellet powder is still going to be in the same environment while on the hunt. What's your thoughts guys?

If I didn't already have my own hunt with a friend this weekend, I'd help out on that Tom.

    Keeping M/L loaded during hunt

It makes sense that a sabot type projectile would tend to provide a protective seal for the powder behind it.

    Keeping M/L loaded during hunt

Another friend of mine had this to say on the subject: "I have input on the loading and unloading question... Large temperature changes create moisture, so when I get home, and it's cold out, like under freezing, I leave my muzzle loader outside in the cold if I'm going to hunt the next day, or so. If I brought it in from the cold, condensation would occur inside the barrel and the powder would be affected. If I'm not going to hunt for 5 or so days, I generally shoot it. Hope this helps."

    37B javelina

My friend Jorge and I got drawn for 37B HAM hunt. While that in itself isn't particularly impressive, how about tag #1 and tag #2 out of 500!

    37B javelina

So some other friends we always hunt with in 37B also got drawn. There was 4 guys that usually put in together, but 1 guy has given up on hunting due to health reasons, but the 3 guys that did put in got tags #497, 498, and 499!

    New Mexico 14th year

Next week I'm lucky to be going on my 14th hunt in a row, muzzy mule deer this time. Back in 2005 I hunted my first time there with some good help from a fellow cwt member, Redman. I've had several whitetail tags over the years, but have only tagged a few mule deer so far. Looking for my first muzzy deer!
