azcoues replied to desertmafia21's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
the antlers look darker in the mount, but looks great -
there are 11 camps missing in 6a and 5b about 30 hunters one body found hunters be careful in the snow while hunting, panic is the number 1 factor in the chances of survival be smart wear proper clothing, and use that gps, hope the outcome is good.

we were down in fresnal wash our camp had some things taken, food, water, boots and they want thriugh our reloads to see if we had the caliber to fit their weapon, border patrol stopped by and thought it might have been spotters, anyways no harm luckily as we had 3 young kids in camp, but 3 hunters tagged bucks. For those not familiar with fresnal it was 36b.

actually the coues love hiding in the ocotillos and there are tons of them down there but more towards fresnal wash,if you go further into california gulch yea more grassy oak covered hills, but there are tons of bucks they just hold tight in that unit and pick them aprt or bust em you can glass an ocotillo thicket for hours and see nothing then bam there they are, they blend in really good, some buddys of mine have that same hunt right now they will be back tuesday i will let everyone know how they did

that lake has been dangerously low year after year for several years, and the good thing about it i guess is that with some winter runoff in the white mountains the lake seems to survive. There has been several years where the depth finder on the boat read 8ft in the middle of the lake,so what i am trying to say is that it has the potential to refill really fast, lets keep our fingers crossed, because that is a springtime crappie haven.

believe me those 13 hunters did not get every buck in that unit, yeah they might have hit the sweet spot but you will do fine ,good unit just hunt where the normal joe smo wont go A,K.A. rough stuff and thats where your bucks will be,good luck.
