  1. That was a good one Pops I should come clean on the (my pig was bigger than Jims) comment. If you havn't already noticed I'm not a very big guy so that helped in making it look so HUGE! But knowing how to take good pic's helps too His was bigger LOL...
  2. Yea Jim, that was a great day & the 1st time we both shot pigs on the same day...those are my favorite pig pic's as well.I still think mine was bigger than Jim's though, just look at the 1st pic
  3. Here is one of my favorites...I got this lion back in Jan. of 04'' while I was archery coues hunting down south with a good friend of mine Jim a.k.a.(coosefan).We were glassing for deer one afternoon about 100 yds apart when Jim called me on the radio & said(I think I got a lion).I was in disbelief but confident...if anyone was going to glass up a lion it would be him .I started scanning the same general area & it seemed like only a minute went by before he called back & said(it moved, it's a lion, go get your gun!!) .I called him back & said(I gotta see it!).I remember sneeking over to him, looking in his 15's, & it took a moment before it appeared ....it was bedded facing away & looking back over its shoulder in our direction, man do they blend in!My heart was racing even more now!I jumped on the quad, almost wrecked a couple times getting to camp but made it there & back in about 15 minutes with my 22-250.As soon as I could see Jim again he gave me the thumbs up...(yes! it's still there).Once I got to him I asked him if he wanted to shoot it & he said (this ones yours) .Needless to say he didn't have to twist my arm too hard, I think I said (are you sure BOOM!!!), just kidding. We ranged the cat at 225 yds. & I got set up for the shot. The 1st shot was HIGH! , the 2nd LOW! , & when it finally got up to walk away I hit it behind the shoulder & flipped it over!Talk about waiting until the last possible moment...I guess you could say I got a real bad case of lion fever!I'm just glad it stuck around until I connected. Thanks again for all your help Jim...Bret

    Brownies

Here are a few sheds My 9 year old son Jakob & I found a couple of weeks ago. Jakob found the spike while he was hunting rabbits & the big brownie about a mile from the truck, I found the smaller one. This was his first brownie & the first brownie of the year for us. I was walking right next to him when he yelled out (dad I got one!), man was I proud!...I spotted the smaller one about 75yds. off the road while we were driving, his was much more well deserved...LOL. It was a great weekend!

    hunter safety 100%

Congrat's to your kids! You might want to see if your 9 year old can even hunt this year. I started my 9 year old son in a course in Jan.07 & had to dropout half way through.I heard from a friend that we would have to retake the course if he didn't turn 10 by the last day. At the next class I asked the instructor & he also said that this was true & my son would not get certified for the class, I called the Game & Fish & they said the same thing.I guess I misundrstood this very important detail, but I think someone should have stood up at the first class & announced this as well.My sons birthday is not until Aug. & I was also told "good luck on finding a class that time of year, It's too hot for field day".Hopefully I can get him into a class sometime between July & Sep. because He was really looking forward to his 1st big game hunt & so was I! Huge bulls in unit 10

Those are (booner's) to me! Great job! I just got back from 10... We had alot of hunting pressure where we were at & were finding very few elk. We were fortunate enough to find this bull on the third evening in a new area, sneaking out of a draw below us..... 4 shots later & the bull was down! We hunted hard, hiked farther in & glassed alot! & were rewarded with a great bull. This was also his first elk, which made it even better. The bull is a little broke up but It didn't matter to us one bit...He was a fighter! & he's our bull!!!! Bret I'LL try to post pictures.

    javelina processing

I have taken all my meat to 4 peaks for the last 5 years or so & have had no problems. I have taken 3 javelina to them & had italian sausage (in casings) made out of all of them & it's delicious!!! My wife & kids loved it too, I highly recommend them. Bret
