I think they both look good...yes the eye set & shape on the velvet buck looks different from the other one, but it's not that bad. The hard horn buck is an up right pose, different form company, winter cape, & a "different taxidermist". The velvet buck looks like a semi sneek pose, summer cape, different form company, & a "different taxidermist"...All these things will make a mount look different from the next. As far as making major adjustments to the finished "dry" mount...once the clay & glue dry, that's it. You would need to get another cape & have it remounted...Beautiful bucks! Congrats.

"Oh and CWT.com sticker on the back window".....SOLD!!!! I know mjmhunter & I know this truck...he took very good care of it & it's in great condition. He also wacked a bunch of critters while he owned it....so it might be good luck for the new owner

Just got back from a turkey hunt w/ my brother & nephew...We got this bird to gobble Fri. morning & tried "several" times to get ahead of him to set up & call. On my last attempt we were just about ready to pull over & get set up when I caught movement to my right...he had already crossed the road & was getting ready to drop into a deep draw. I pulled over & my brother got out, closed the distanc to 40 yds. & rolled him w/ one shot. He was a mature tom w/ a 9 1/2'' beard. I'd really like to say we called this bird in, but an opportunity like that is hard to pass up Thanks, Bret

Younghunter, I was able to get several birds to respond to my crow call but nothing else....actually calling them in was another story...I guess I wasn't speaking the right language Good luck if you go back up. firstcoueswas80, "Unlucky" That's what I say about my kids too...when people say they look like me tjhunt2, I appreciate that....I like to tell it how it happened.

Chalky, brown, broke off piece...it don't matter it's a coues shed Good job!
-
younghunter, I'm not sure if it had been broke but his rt. side was very cool....The pedicle is twice the size of the lt. side & is positioned more forward on the skull. It was a bonus to me because I usually shoot (Freaks of the woods) one antlered deer one antlered caribou ...you know As far as your bull hunt...you'll have alot more scouting in than I did...last Sep. is when I went to Alaska w/ Jim & didn't get out as much as I would have for my elk hunt. Seeing good bulls while scouting & knowing where they were close to the hunt will help alot. Like HUNTMUP said if you have the whole hunt off....HOLD OUT.....this way you get to milk the hunt for all it's worth & shoot a smaller bull toward the end if you don't wack the big one 1st and you should be very proud of that coues from last year! They're all "trophies" to me ....Bret

That's awesome coosefan! That picture brought back some great memories...not you on it but the bull itself I might have got that bull too if I had a little more self control on that hunt See this was my 1st archery bull tag & I told everyone that I hope the 1st bull that comes in is a big one, because I'm going to have a hard time passing up a branch antlered bull Well that's what happened...I shot the 1st bull that came in to the call on the 2nd day of the hunt...& while we were skinning my bull we called in the one I was hoping to get a chance at....the one in coosefan's pic! Oh well, It Just added to the whole experience I'm very proud of my bull & wouldn't change it for nothin'...(Maybe) next time I can hold out a little longer HUNTMUP, hopefully your tag will be on a bull like that this September Here is the bull I got & another pic of (the one that got away) before coosefan tamed it Thanks, Bret

Thanks shortpants & younghunter. Shortpants,I actually shot that buck on the run after he jumped up from his bed...That was the first & only time I've seen a deer (sneek) like a cat too :oHe was side hilling about a 150 yds across from me & all I saw was that he had a good frame.I laid down, put the cross hairs in (front) of the shoulder & hit him in the heart...lucky maybe, but I'll take it I had no idea how big he was until I walked up to him but I knew even back then, that he would be hard to beat...13 years later & I'm still trying. Casey, Actually it was 105+ & Yes I'll be the 1st to admit I got serious BUCK FEVER on a BUCK OF A LIFETIME.It was Jan. of 05'' & myself & coosefan were trying our luck at spot & stalk coues again....I glassed him up one morning & we watched him feed over the ridge w/ his doe about 900 yds away.Coosefan stayed back while I made the stalk. After about an hour I was about 100 yds from where we last saw him. All of a sudden here he came following the doe back over & bedded 75 yds above me I had the wind right & continued to close the gap.I picked a boulder I thought would get me to within 25 yds, & crawled to it.Once I got there I slowly peeked over & saw the tips of his antlers & he was facing my direction :unsure:I was now within bow range of the biggest buck I have ever seen!!!I came to full draw & stepped out, there was alot of brush covering his vitals so I grunted at him trying to get him to stand. We had a stand off for what seemed like a couple of minutes..I finally picked a spot where his shoulder would have been & shot right over him! He busted out of there & stopped, now he was around 35 yds,I already had another arrow knocked & drew back....WHACK! I hit him right at the base of his right antler He ran down the hill & shook the arrow loose in the bottom, found his doe & chased her over the ridge like nothing ever happened Moral of this story....TRY not to look at the rack , relax, don't rush it,pick your spot,& make the shot!I didn't get near that rattled on my archery mule deer, but I had 3 1/2 hours to think about it on my stalk. This one happened really fast & it's a COUES!!!what else can I say There you happy Casey! Here is the buck that got away...Jim took these pic's through the spotting scope before I made the stalk.Hope you enjoy, great pic's everyone...Bret -

Hey HUNTMUP nice to hear from you.I bought that old chevy from you right out of high school & had it for 7 years.Like Jim said we had alot of fun in that truck & made alot of great memories. It means more to me than any other vehicle I've ever owned...Thanks, again younghunter,It was an 81 chevy, 1/2 ton, s.b., 4x4,w/ a 4'' lift.It had a 350 motor, high rise intake, 4 barrel carb.,duel exhaust w/ flow masters,& a new process 208 granny 4 speed trans....It was awesome! Casey,Don't listen to Jim...he's having way too much fun at our expense -
