Congratulations! What did it weigh? What call or sequence? I am new to cat-country and am finding them quite fascinating.

Great photos. Thanks.

A few folks have asked about my Swaro binos for sale... well, I finally found the box (I recently moved and have stuff all over the house and garage). The serial number is L800696813. That means that they were manufactured in 2010. The Swarovski 8x32 EL was Swaro's top of the line small bino until this year when they released the 8x32 Swarovision with a retail of $2000+. When I compared the non-swarovision to swarovision in 8x32, I could not tell the difference. I did the same with the higher power 10x42 and thought that I could see a better color difference. I knew that I was holding a $2500 bino and that might have helped influence my thinking that they were better. http://www.eagleoptics.com/binoculars/swarovski -
Be sure to look through a Zeiss Victory at some point. The 6-24x56 is quite nice. You might be able to find a decent price on a used or demo scope. The guys at http://www.cameralandny.com/ have some pretty good deals fairly frequently.

FS Eberlestock Phantom pack, dry earth, brand new, $325
rancilio replied to rancilio's topic in Classified Ads
As far as trades, I am interested in a 250cc or so dual-sport motocycle and a S&W M&P 15-22PC. Other than those, I have everything that I need... I think. What do you have in mind? -
FS Eberlestock Phantom sniper pack backpack. Its dry earth color. Brand new. The Phantom scabbard fits a rifle with big optics. I finally bought a Phantom after waiting a month for the one that I had on backorder. A week later, my backordered Phantom arrived. And now one is up for sale. I am in Sierra Vista or Ft. Huachuca. I will ship it if you cover the cost. http://www.eberlesto...om Backpack.htm http://www.eberlesto...ategory_Code=TP From Eberlestock... The Phantom pack is a mid-sized pack that is our own original design. It offers the ability to remove the bag and straps from the patented Backscabbard, which can then be combined with the top-cover to make a nice drag bag. The Phantom is a front-loader, with two rings of various-sized tuck-pockets lining its interior, MOLLE racks inside and out, and a fold-down shelf that can be used to divide the main compartment into upper and lower chambers. It will carry two 3-liter hydration kits, mounted in side pockets, and/or two 2-liter bladders in sleeves between the side pockets and the main pack. Includes the pack and scabbard combination, removable butt-cover, and pull-out G1RC rain cover.

A buddy sent me a few pix from my old hunting area in southern NY. The two bucks in the pix are pretty darn nice for that area. Squint to see the big guy in the back. I have one of his sheds from last year. I tried for three years to get him. He is good. He always sent his brothers my way to keep me distracted.

It varies based on where, when and with what you hunt. Check out http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/6397.html if you are serious.

Some stuff I saw while up North today.

Wow. Very neat. What camera and what zoom did you use to get the running deer? -
A bit far for you, but I have a nice press and will help anyone out. Bring your new string and we can swap everything. That should save a few dollars if a pro shop is not convenient for you.

Brown Pelicans at Patagonia Lake/Amanda is Everywhere
rancilio replied to a topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Neat. I just looked in the Arizona Breeding Brid Atlas and did not see any mention of pelicans. A quick google search and a bit of reading got me a little caught up with pelicans in Arizona. Printed records go back to early 1900. A 1937 article documents an invasion. http://elibrary.unm.edu/sora/Condor/files/issues/v039n04/p0175-p0175.pdf Thanks for posting the photos. -
I have a Cabela's Alaskan Guide 20-60x70 Spotting Scope with neoprene cover. I dropped it on day one back in 2004 (I think) and slightly dented the objective end. I was certainly not happy. Since then, it has performed well. It is quality built with Japanese glass. $200.

Do you mind sharing your recipe? Thanks.

Will you send me a 2012-13 Hunting & Trapping Reg booklet? I am currently in NY before I return to AZ later in the summer. I can read the booklet online or download it, but I much prefer to hold it in my hands. Thanks much, Matt

Hello, I am an Army guy moving to the Ft. Huachuca area this summer. My wife and I are headed out next week to look for a place to live south of Sierra Vista. I would to buy a 4x4 pickup to use during our house-hunting trip and then to use during our time in AZ. I would like to pay about $5-6K. I would like a full-size bed, extended-cab of some sort and AC would be great. We arrive in Phoenix Tuesday, 29 May and plan to stay at my uncle's house for the day prior to driving down to Sierra Vista. If you know of a truck for sale or have a friend in the business, ideally in Phoenix, please let me know. Thanks, Matt 256-457-69fourfour matthew.lorenz at us.army.mil

I have been shooting my dad's sporterized swedish mauser 6.5x55 since I was old enough to shoot, about 8yrs old. He killed plenty of deer, coyotes, groundhogs and many a targets. I love it and it performs as my go-to gun. Liking the cartrigde, I put together a 6.5x55 TC Encore with a 20" 1:8 fluted heavy Shilen barrel. It is nice. I also have a TC 15" 6.5x55 barrel justin case I want to pack it in. All seem to shoot 120gr, 139gr or 156gr quite well. When I make mre time, I will figure out which barrel likes what rounds the best. I am not sure why the 6.5x55 is not more poplular in the US. Good BC. Low recoil. What is not to like?
