    whats your range?

But if I had to say what "my" max range is, I would say 70 yards.

    whats your range?

Bottom line is that everyone's max is different. You'll know what your limits are after shooting enough.

    NAP Quik Fletch

I've been using them for a few months now, and I love them. I've shot out to 90 yards with them. My groups are tighter and more consistent. I think I gained a few FPS when I switched to these, because I noticed I was hitting about 4 inches higher than my regular arrows. They're very durable and well worth the money. You can find them at any Cabelas or Bass Pro Shop for about $13. When you factor in the time it takes to fletch your arrows the traditional way (not to mention the added cost of having someone do it for you if you don't have the jigs, etc) the expense is well worth it. If you can boil water, you can have a set of perfectly fletched arrows in minutes. Not to mention they look cool! I noticed that the folks on the "Archers Choice" TV show use them.

what is the best broadhead grain for deer!!!!

Hey dude... Check out the Trophy Ridge broadheads here: http://www.trophyridge.com/broadheads/ I shot the older model "Undertakers" and I loved them. I killed my 08 muley with one, and the penetration and damage that thing made was impressive! The deer didn't run more than 40 yards before he dropped. When I field dressed him, there were nothing but shreds where his lungs used to be. I'll be shooting the "Meat Seekers" this upcoming season. Talk to you soon!

    drop-away rests

I've been shooting a Trophy Taker Shaky Hunter for years, and never had any problems with it. Some guys don't like them cuz they say they're loud, but its not that bad. There are things you can do to quiet them down (i.e. pad the saddle, felt on the prongs, etc). I tried going to a whisker biscuit after having shot the TT for years, and have to say I hated it. Needless to say, I went right back to my tried and true shaky hunter. It's all a matter of preference.

    Need Your Honest Opinions

Mathews...YOU'VE BEEN CAUGHT! Catch up, if you can PSE has definitely done their homework on their new line of bows. I personally own the Bow Madness and am extremely pleased with it. It's fast, quiet, forgiving, and flat shooting. I can practically use 1 pin out to 40 yds. Lots of bang for your buck! Granted, I could dish out more coin for the "prettier" bow, but why? I'm already kicking the @#$! out of competition with my PSE! Seriously though...it all boils down to what feels right. My decision was based on budget (would've gone with the X-Force, but was happier with the more moderately priced BM). For those of you slamming PSE without having tried it, I suggest you shoot one. You might get sucked in! Happy Shooting to all!
  10. Some of you may remember the topic I started a few months ago regarding "what bow to buy?". Well, I finally buckled down and bought the new PSE Bow Madness XS. It is only 28 1/2" axle to axle, but IBO's at 316fps. I compared it to other models, but this one just right. Haven't had time to really shoot much, but will be soon. Anyone else shooting this model? I'd like to hear what you think of it. I'm really happy with it.

    Finally bought a new bow

BTW, I'm trying to get rid of a Trophy Taker Shaky Hunter Rest if anyone's interested. It wouldn't fit the new bow. All offers are welcome.

    Finally bought a new bow

Thanks! Here's a side topic... I'm currently set up as follows: 28" draw length @66lbs, 80% let off I'm shooting Gold Tip Vapor (Hunter Series) arrows @ approx 345 grains. Am I shooting the right arrows for my new rig?

    Time for a new bow

Ok, it's time for me to retire the old bow and get something that was built this decade. The floor is open to your recommendations.

    Time for a new bow

Wow...I didn't know that. Let's open the discussion up to: PSE / Hoyt / Mathews / Bowtech bows I know there are fans of each of the above mentioned brands, so I'd like to hear all the pros and cons. And yes, I know how to get things started here. I want to hear from the experts out there!

Hey vato. How much $ for the PSE Bow Madness?
  21. coocoo4coues

    Time for a new bow

I really like the PSE Xforce, and the Mathews Reezen...but the price is outrageous. Tell me more about the Martin line of bows. Don't know much about them.

    Being patient after the shot....

I learned this lesson the hard way. A few years back, I took a shot at a nice 3x3 at about 50 yds. It was an uphill shot, and I heard the "thwack" when I hit him. I saw him run about 30 yards and drop under a large scrub oak. At that point, being wet behind the ears, I strolled over thinking I'd find a dead deer. When I approached the area, he quickly jumped up and ran off like a bat out of heck. I saw about half of my arrow sticking out of his shoulder. I started following the blood trail, and continued to do so for about 3 hours, until towards the top of a very steep hill, lost it completely. I trailed that buck for days, spending all day looking for any kind of sign of his passing. I couldn't sleep for weeks after that, because I know that deer died, and I couldn't recover him. I later found half of my arrow covered in blood and teeth marks from where the poor animal eventually gnarled it off. Since then, I've been very careful about several things, and follow these basic rules of thumb: 1) Be sure of the shot and know your limitations. If you can't shoot a good group at 50 yards, then don't go taking a shot at that range. This may mean passing up on a monster, but this is an important rule of thumb. 2) Practice 3) Practice some more 4) Did I mention practice? 5) Don't go cheap on broadheads 6) After making a good shot, WAIT! Not minutes, but hours. 7) Take a friend (preferably one with more hunting sense than you). A good hunting partner will help you make good decisions in the midst of buck fever and all the mixed emotions. They'll help you calm down, and then help you track down your kill. Nothing like hunting with a seasoned vet. 8) Read forums like this Enjoy...

    Windage issues

Ok, here's a dumb question. Who could explain why (when target practicing) my groups progressively start drifting to the right? I'll be dead on at 10, 20...slightly off at 30 & 40...then WAY off at 50. I can't even get a group at this yardage. This just started happening recently, what could be off?
  24. coocoo4coues

What type of drop away rest!

I have a Trophy Taker... got it for around $60

I knew my question would get a lot of good feedback. Thanks for all the great advice! I have some shooting to do.
