Does anyone know if there will be a meeting in the Tucson area?

I've always wondered but never asked and have never gotten a definite answer on what do do in certain situations that may, although hopefully don't oiccur when hunting/ hiking/ camping. 1. If you are out in the middle of the mountain/ desert and in the middle of a lightning storm what do you do? Supoose you are not able to leave because you are miles from civilization and do not have a vehicle to get into. 2. What do you do if you get bitten by a rattlesnake in the same situation as above? Thanks.

I spent alot of time last year scouting and didnt find too much out there. I told myself I would shoot the 1st deer with calcium on its head and did on the 2nd day of the hunt. There are deer there. I'd rather hunt 30b than sit at home so get out there and find a deer for your kid.

1- so would it be better to be in an area with trees etc around, they would be taller than me. Or would it be best to lie flat in an area that has little to no vegetation? 2- seems like getting back to civilization is the only option. not much you can do in the field. if the truck was very far away, my heart rate would probably raise due to the length of the walk/ difficulty of terrain. do people die from snake bites?

Anyone know of any good videos that go over basic archery shooting techniques and tips. A friend of mine just took up archery and I was mentioning that I had seen some videos online by randy ulmer and that they could help him. I am also looking to refresh my memory as far as techniques go. Thanks for the help.

Unit 33 would be an excellent place to start. -
I am looking to start reloading and have never done it in the past. I am looking for some pointers or for someone to point me in the right direction. What do I need to get started? What should I look for in equipment? How much equipment is necessary? I am looking to start loading both shotgun shells and centerfire ammo. Is one easier than the other? Where should I start? Thanks.

you sure it wasnt a bushnell ....cuz thats the common complaint I here from people about the bushnells... 100% sure it was a nikon. maybe it was just a bad one. Ive had good luck with nikon previously and this was my only bad experience.
-
I had a nikon 600 and it was no good past 200 yards. Good for bowhunting but that was it. I got rid of it and won't buy or recomend a nikon rangefinder to anyone. Maybe I just got a bad one but that is my experience.

thats a heck of a buck. glad you got one. nice work.

204 or 223. 204 is a great round and could take anything up to a javelina. 223 can take anything up to deer and ammo is cheap.

Unfortunetly, by increasing BP's and NG's the drug runners and illegals are only going to try and find new travel routes that are deeper in the desert and closer to our hunting areas. Increasing the BP and NG might help but IMHO I think the way they patrol needs to be changed. I have never seen a BP/NG on a hillside with a pair of binos, too far from their trucks. We need to get more guys on hillsides and on horseback. Driving the roads just isn't effective enough. I will continue to hunt the southern units and will continue to be armed and ready to defend myself. This is our country and we should be able to enjoy our land as we please. The PC crowd needs to realize this and take a stand against illegal immigration.

Thanks everyone. Ill definitely try out some of these spots. I tried to find some on the gila also this past weekend but am not sure what areas are open to hunting. I inow the gila runs through the indian res and price rd in florence seems like in might be incorporated so i dont want to risk getting a ticket/ losing my shotgun. I think I'll head to Willcox area next time. Seems like a fun challenge finding ducks in the desert. Thanks again.

Hi. I just went out duck hunting for the first time and was told by the G/F website that Picacho Reservoir was a good place to go that was kind of close to Tucson. When I got there I spent some time trying to find the reservoir only to find it all dried up. Just wanted to see if anyone on here had any good duck hunting tips for a beginner on bagging some ducks in the desert. Thanks.

Anyone know if there is a meeting this Friday?

Someone told me a new state record CWT was taken in AZ this year. Anyone hear or see anything?

I have the Badlands pack and was packing it yesterday for a weekend scouting/backpack trip this weekend and am having a heck of a time figuring out where the rifle goes in the pack. Does anyone have this pack and know where the rifle goes or know of a site that shows the pack loaded up? Thanks. Brett

I always thought those water jugs were out there for archers to make sure our bows were still sighted in while in the field.
-
One thing you guys may be overlooking is wind direction and strength. While the sun does affect deer behavior, In my experiences when windy I have had success finding deer on the slopes that protect the deer from the wind. EX: west to east wind, i have found alot of deer on the east facing slopes.

nice rack, too bad a lion got it not a hunter.
