There is a TON of different tactics and calls that can be effective for calling in bulls. I think the most imprtant thing to remember is to match what the Elk are doing on that particular day. If they are very vocal, then I won't hold back.......If they are fairly quiet, then I rarely make a sound. Coues Krazy has a great tactic and one that I use almost all the time. The Elk are "usually" out there letting you know exactly where they are, and "usually" where they are headed, just by listnening to them! Use that to your advantage, don't let them know you are there, and get ahead of them! This is the reason why some guys don't wear "hiking" boots while Elk hunting.......they wear "running" shoes! I've come to realize, that either....... I sit and watch my wife do homework......or I sit and stare at this computer.....or I go play with snakes.......Hhmmmm....I should have chosen either of the first two choices, but it's not as fun! Didn't make it out in time to glass anything up, but found another snake on the way out. This one is a prime example that Mohave's are not always green! Very poisonous sucker and usually really aggressive. This Mohave wasn't to upset with me and was pretty small, but pretty neat nonetheless! You can tell it's a Mohave by the tail...notice the rings are thinner, the white is more of a grey and the rings don't all connect completely around if you compare it to the first two snakes in this thread which are Western Diamondbacks. Well I went out by the house after work tonight to try and glass up some of them "floppy-eared" specimens of the deer family.......and didn't glass up a thing! BUT....this dang thing was hangin' out by my truck when i got back! Here's the "AS IT LAY" pic.... And here's the "NOW I'M PISSSSSSSED" pics....... I didn't kill him.......but I thought about it 'cause he NEVER rattled once! Not even when I really messed with him! THAT'S SCARY!

Hey Amanda...Those are awesome pic's! Amazing how well they blend in.......I think it's one of the things that makes them so neat! I haven't seen a good sized one like that in a while.....around here they don't live long enough to get big! I found another one this evening.....I'll get pics up soon. JIM>

The weight savings would be a definite plus, but I wouldn't think it would be a big enough plus to get rid of an LX. I believe the LX is an incredible "all around" great bow! I want one.....let me know if you sell yours JIM>

Dude......I grew out of that "picken' em up" phase as soon as I got bit! I paid the price too....and almost paid the price "in full" ! I still think they are cool critters, but I for dam sure don't pick em' up anymore!!! What spooked me is that I was sitting just a couple feet away from where this snake is, before I got up and walked to a different spot! He was close by the whole time I sat there 'cause I was only gone for about 20 minutes! I also was thankful I was really looking close to that spot as I walked up, checking to make sure I didn't leave anything behind! I got a serious case of the heebie-jeebies.....especially 'cause he never gave a warning and he was obviously very aggressive! I would do alot more glassing/scouting by my house if it weren't for incidents like this one.....almost guarantee to find at least one every time out! JIM>
