I'll be living with the bulls in August, but hopefully I get a chance to carry the bow around up north just in case a really big Muley steps out.......otherwise I'm saving myself for the rifle tag that I'm gonna draw BTW.......those areas by my house are not open to hunt until Dec. and Jan. with a bow It would be an absolute slaughter if G+F let people hunt the summertime down here.......sit a water source and they come in herd after herd......it would be unfair to hunt them at this time I believe. Thanks, JIM>

I wonder if his mother and father approve of his relationship? It's obvious they're runnin' together......I bet his friends laughed at him and poked fun 'cause his girlfriends' a freak! Thats wild! JIM> -

You sure that's a Javi? It looks like two Raccoons to me with a Fox in the background. Maybe I'm seein' things -
Went out this evening to check out a new trick tank we found close to home and the place is covered with Piggies! I also saw first hand WHY there are so many Pigs in the area! Here they are "makin' bacon" I found the tank and hiked up the closest mountian to glass. First found one herd of pigs headin' to the tank and then a Coyote on a collision course with the pigs. They both got to the tank at the same time and the lead pig chased the Coyote off! That's the first time I've seen that, I've seen em' just ignore each other before. About an hour before dark I had two deer headin' in but couldn't tell if they had velvet or not so I snuck down to the tank but two more separate herds of pigs were paralleling me to the tank on either side of me! By the time I got to the tank there were pigs everywhere and a few of the orginal bunch were running around like crazy a little ways away from the tank. I decided to investigate and try to get a pic and that is when I noticed it was two boars trying to catch the sow! She finally gave in and both Boars did their duty and I believe the whole time she knew I was there! You can see in the pic shes lookin right at me and as soon as she had the chance she burned outta there leaving her two boyfriends wonderin' what her problem was. The deer didn't show up, although I'm sure it's 'cause of all the commotion. I saw two more "skin-head" deer on the drive out as well. I was away from home for less than 4 hours.........can't beat that! Here's a pretty good track near the tank.......... and here's my first attempt at a Panoramic photo.........this is the country behind the tank. Thanks, JIM>

Yeah, somethin's wrong with that bull.........he definitely rode the short bus to school! That ain't normal being out of velvet like that as well as the single antler problem. I've got a buddy, who shall remain nameless, that I'm sure would shoot that bull because of that character! -
AWESOME RICHIE! Beautiful bird for sure.......I bet it was a blast! JIM>

Way cool Amanda! Very good job....loved it! I had a Barn Owl watching me change a windshield last week......it was in the middle of the day and he was sittin' under a tree in a neighbors yard! Thought it was kinda outta place in downtown Phoenix, but it was a beautiful critter, reminded me of your video! Thanks, JIM>

Landowner Tag for Unit 23 (mule deer)
COOSEFAN replied to Redman's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
NOPE......I'm a dummy........I read it but didn't understand it the way that I do now! I don't mess with the Muleys much over there in NM, but I always thought it was the same as Elk and Antelope Thanks Kevin for catchin' me on that, and settin' it straight -
dang Gino, very sad stuff.......got me all worked up thinking about my Ol' dog Zeus.....very similar scenarios. Like Scottyboy mentioned....he lived a very long life and you gave him a loving home! Take care, JIM>

Landowner Tag for Unit 23 (mule deer)
COOSEFAN replied to Redman's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
I've never tried to buy Muley Landowner tag, so I don't know much about em', but if they are the same as Elk, than there are "Unit Wide" Landowner tags as well as "Ranch Only" landowner tags. Call G+F over there, and I believe you can get a printout of all the landowners who recieve tags.......then sit down and start calling! I think that 23 tag may be a hard one or expensive one to buy......most outfitters over there already have landowners on contracts to sell them all their tags, so you may also want to call some of the Outfitters, they may sell you one or let you buy one from one of their landowners? Best of luck to ya, JIM> -
WHAT THE HECK GINO? I took my last Coues to Steve and felt good about it.................now I'm a little worried to say the least! Am I understandin' this correctly that you were joking? I went up to Flag to see his work and was very impressed with his Coues and especially the pedestals.......I paid extra for him to be creative with my mount.........I sure hope he at least gets creative with mine since I paid extra for it! BTW..if you were joking.....then I owe you one JIM>

Any guesses on size?
COOSEFAN replied to 105Coues's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I'm thinkin' closer to what AZP&Y said..........just under 90"...........OK, I'll say 89 and change I always guess high on velvet bucks by 5 or 6 inches so by default I automatically deduct 6 inches from what it appears to be.......I think he "looks" like a 95" buck! ( I'm weird like that but it usually works) JIM> -
I am sick and tired of hearing about your elk tag!
COOSEFAN replied to bobbyo's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Hey Lance......that is one heck of a bull! I hope you guys get to put your hands on em'! You know what I find funny, and it happens every year at this time, is how loosely some guys use the term....." 400" "! They are out there, even on bad years there will be one or two somewhere that has good feed, but It's funny how that number flys around so freely! I had a hunt a few years back that I put ALOT of time in scouting for. I started following up on all the leads and tips that came my way and soon realized that most people are actually 30 - 50 inches higher on their feild judging than what the animal actually was! I've gotten where I automatically assume the critter I'm hearing about is at least 30 inches smaller than what I'm being told! This obviously depends on the source and if pictures are available. I beleive all these magazines and videos on the market now have created this idea in some guys that 400" bulls are not that uncommon and these same guys seem to find 400" bulls all the time I'm not talking about anybody on here.......I'm just hearing it on a daily basis lately and find it funny I remember back when I used to think a 350 - 370 type bull was a 400" bull, so I understand where it comes from From what I'm seein' and hearin' this year will be similar to last year, maybe a tad better but still tough on the West side of AZ, and there will be some monsters killed and a better rut on the East side of AZ I do hope everyone finds and tags the bull of their dreams though.....regardless of what it scores! JIM> -
What about the guy taking the pictures? To tell you the truth.....I was the only voyeur around! The pig laying there is actually just catching his breath because he just got done doing what the other pig is doing in the pic! The sow appearantly is not the "marrying" type and obviously is playin' the feild Maybe I should have turned around and let them have their privacy........but it's like a train wreck.....you just have to watch!
-
The piggies are way cool......but, I was more excited about all the deer sign! But yeah, I might have to put in for that for next years pig hunt! Thanks, JIM>

Nope. Don't need it.

I also own and use the Outdoorsmans Pan head that Peloncillo has and shows in his pic. I love it, but it hasn't held up as well as my Jim White did. I traded my Jim White setup for a 2nd tag in Mexico I bought the Outdoorsmans Pan head and love it, but the plastic knobs on it keep breaking.......really isn't a big problem 'cause Outdoorsman will replace them free of charge I'm sure. The Jim White head is very durable and has no plastic parts.

Those pic's really show how much better it is to use an SLR! If you were using a normal automatic camera you would have a hard time with the objects in the foreground messing with the focus! Great pics, JIM>

That Tortoise is awesome! I've only found a handful of em' over the years and it was always by luck. Looks like he was really photogenic for ya too!

It's a Kingsnake..........I would have given anything to see you floppin' in the water.......I bet yer dad was laughin' his butt off! JIM>
