Thanks again SDR for your kind words about my bro! He has read your post and is unable to post a reply and asked me to do it for him. Matt wants to say thanks to you SDR for your help as well with the water situation and for your valuable information you provided, it definitely cut down on the reasearch and planning time! He also wants everyone to know that the main person to thank is Steve Clark (rthrbhunting) with AES. Steve had the ball rolling on the planning with AZGFD and the water hauling issues long before this topic came up.....although most people in the general public don't know that. The supporters of AES, RMEF and contrary to popular belief.....the employees of AZGFD, are the main reason there is water being hauled in Arizona right now. The efforts that my brother has put forth is something that everyone can do and he, as well as myself, encourage everyone to help support the AES and the RMEF as much as they can! My brother also says that the WM in Unit 9 ( David Rigo ) is bustin' his butt tryin' to get the unit in shape and he does alot with the unit that most people don't hear about or see, and he has a sincere passion for what he does and for the critters he's responsible for! It's the volunteers and supporters of all the wildlife organizations in this great state that should be thanked for all they do! Thanks guys, JIM> If anyone has any questions or concerns about anything related to Unit 9, please call David Rigo (wildlife manager Unit 9). Mr. Rigo can be reached at his office# 928 - 635 - 5364 If anyone has any thoughts or ideas involving anything Elk related within Arizona or would like to become more involved with the AES, please contact Steve Clark. Steve can be reached by: email - rthrbhntng@cox.net or phone: 602 - 885 - 0835

Thanks SDR.....Matt has grabbed the ball and is still runnin' with it! He had his three little boys up there past couple of days cleaning and fixing tanks! Hey guys, I just got back from CO., and am surprised at the response this post got! Thanks for the reply's! This happened around 6 or 7 years ago , and the video has been shown at several RMEF banquets around the state and at some national conventions I believe. The video was used to promote the RMEF's water hauling projects. These pics just popped back up recently and I thought it would be a good time to share them with you all, because of the water issues being discussed lately. It was an awesome feeling to help a critter out in a time of need.......I was really glad to see he made it to the treeline, it was extremely hot that day....I hope he made it a few more years! Thanks guys, JIM>

Hey guys, I just wanted to post somethin' positive on here. I am tired of reading about censorship issues, hunting someone elses spot, or immigration junk! We should be excited about the fact that Fall is almost here and tomorrow I will find out that I am the recipient of yet another precious Coues tag! Here's the same video I posted last year.....it's not updated with any new hunts, but it still gets me excited for the upcoming hunts! Hope you guys enjoy it again! Oh and BTW......you'll have to just grin and bear the "Arena Rock Music" Mr. BobbyO

It was out of desperation that he let me get that close. We didn't have anything that held enough water to just leave for him to drink alone. You can obviously tell in the last pic he was feeling more like himself! I had my hand between his horns as he pushed me over the fence to make sure I didn't get "poked"! The video is hilarious at that moment.....I was screaming like a girl! I gave the rights to the video to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation several years ago and it's been shown in several conventions and a bunch of banquets since then....it's even been on a commercial for the organization on OLN I beleive! I was the "Poster Child" for the water project stuff! I hope he made it a couple more years......I know for a fact he didn't die out on the prairie that day Thanks guys....I'm leaving right now for Colorado to scout......be home next week! JIM>

Time to get pumped up!
COOSEFAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I'm glad you guys enjoyed it...whether for the first or second time around I haven't had the time to put another video together or even a short clip such as this one. This video is a few hunts from 05'.....so we definitely need an updated version! I might be able to scratch something out soon though. thanks, JIM> -
This is also not a new one, but thought it would be cool to share it again! Hey BobbyO........I understand what you meant by arena rock music now......the music on this video sucks! Cool shot footage though and it was a fun hunt! Enjoy, JIM>

WHooooHooo! Great set of sheds!!!! Very cool to see the kids experiencing it all....they'll remember that day! JIM>

Wow.......so far it looks like a rumor might actually NOT be a rumor I hope it's true! Best of luck to you guys! JIM>

This is very touchy ground here.......In this certain scenario, I would not hunt this other guys' salt! He put the work into getting it there and scouting the spot, I would respect that and not hunt it. Now if it is a waterhole..........that is different. Waterholes are first come first served.......if someone beats me to a waterhole.......it's theirs. If I beat them.....I only hope they have the same respect, which is unfortunately rarely ever the case! If I know someone is scouting it very seriously and I have the same intentions for the same spot, I will try and contact them and work out an agreement with them to share it.....if they don't want to share, I ususally will back off.....it's not worth the headache or the fighting! In your case, I would set up my own salt in a different spot........the deer will be happier about the extra salt and you won't have to compete with that certain individual........in essence you are sharing the deer by doing this, not the spot itself. Good luck, JIM>

I wouldn't count on it...worth a try to send it in though......I guess Do you know why they call it the "Yardage Pro"? Because there isn't another rangefinder out there that has been thrown for as many yards as the "Yardage Pro"! I have heard of several instances where the "Yardage Pro" didn't work when it was supposed to and the owner threw it and left it!!! You can buy a used Leica 900 for the same price as the cheapest new "Yardage Pro"..........and the Leica will still work better! I'll see what I can come up with for ya Casey JIM>

I think you should just pitch it and buy a Leica 1200!

Hey guys, I ran out to one of the tanks nearby last night after work. My plan was to set a cam on the tank and I already had the spot picked for it during an earlier visit.........and guess what.........there's a fricken new cam hangin' in the exact spot I was going to put mine Someone beat me to it.....so I made funny faces and danced around a little bit in front of it.......hopefully they get a kick out of it I planned on setting up the cam and then hiking in to glass for a while, but once I saw I was beat, I decided to just glass from the tank and see what came in, so I sat back a ways and waited. First visitors were the Pigs and they stayed until dark. They all came in and drank then laid around and panted with their mouths open. I had my 15's on a tripod in front of me and tried to take a few pics hand holding the camera through the binos. Only a few turned out....... Shortly after the Piggies arrived all heck broke loose with a deer jumping around on the metal apron on the hill above me! SCARED THE HECK outta me AND the Piggies! The Pigs and I settled back down and the deer started coming from all directions. One group was all bucks and it was dissapointing to see how bad the antler growth is. The biggest buck out of the 9 bucks I saw all night had maybe 7" of growth and very little mass. All the others had either just nubs or 3" to 5" little velvet sticks One buck in particular kept fighting with another buck. They had several "boxing" matches and a bunch of hissing and growling......that was very cool to watch.......wish I had the video camera! Check out this "2 Headed Doe" .......... The lighting was too dark to try and digiscope these deer, but most of these are bucks.......you can see the little ones were not as wary as the older bucks.....the buck in the right corner of the next pic had about 5" inches of growth, the biggest with about 7" inches was farther out as well. We've only had a sprinkle of rain lately out here on the west side.........it better get here quick! Thanks for lookin', JIM> Oh yeah, BTW.......I was wonderin' why that guy's trail cam wasn't flashing while these deer were there........they were walking directly in front of it by only 3 feet or so and it was dark..........I went over after the deer left and stuck my face up to it and at about 2'foot away from it.......the fricken flash finally went off....I about fell over startled and blinded I know that was stoopid.........but someone out there has a great "deer in the headlights" pic of me!
