NO BRAINER....although you do have some great ideas here from everyone else! If you already have the 15's.......you don't need the 10's! If you have the money......buy the 8.5x42 EL's........you will never regret it and you will never need to buy another pair of binos with that set up! I have the 8.5 EL's and had Outdoorsmans install a nipple on em' so they work with the same adapter as my 15's. I would definitely go this route instead of buying the Swaro EL adapter....the Swaro adapter is flimsy and easily broken with one drop on a rock! The 8.5's and the 15's together cover all the distances in effective glassing and is a deadly combo Jimbo's $.02

Hey Standman, I was a bit narrowminded in my post, You are correct. I also use the non-UV soap and scent killer body soap as well as the deodorant. You are correct it lessens the amount of smell and I should have pointed that out in my earlier rant about scent-loc suits I like your hypothesis about the deer thinkin' a human had been there, but not at that moment.......makes sense! As far as the cover scent....I don't know for sure. I have had mixed experiences.......one that stands out, and Tony reminded me of it was when three stinky hunters were layin in the grass waitin' for an elk that we had just arrowed to lie down. The bull stayed close and the shot was lethal so we planned to not spook him and just let him pass. The wind started blowing toward him and I feared he would run so I covered all the foliage and branches around us with that "Moccasin Joe" Cow in Heat scent. No more than 3 minutes later......with the wounded bull still close, we had 3 separate bulls ( all bigger than what we shot) come from downwind up to within feet of us, and they were trailing the smell like a hound dog! They came in one after the other, walked up and looked down at us and then nonchalantly left, constantly looking back wonderin' why we smelled so sexy! I believe in the stuff based solely on that experience. As far as deer.....I have no clue....I just match whatever vegetation I'm hunting in when using scent for deer. JIM>

Thanks Stan for sharin' your insight on the matter. I don't personally know the individuals involved but have respected and looked up to who they are and what they do for alot of years now. I'm sure whatever happened that was deemed illegal was a surprise to them as much as it was for us who only heard about it! I'm also sure there is no way they would have knowingly done anything illegal with a high profile tag such as that and with such a high profile bull! I would bet there are things that happened that were out of their control and for those things it's not right to criticize. Also, there are aspects about this hunt that I, and others, don't agree with but, in all fairness, it's not our place to criticize either. You touched on the subject about the Anti-hunters........All this talk, negative and false accusations, about this topic may only be on these hunting websites, but the bad part is that it's not just hunters veiwing these websites! I've commented before about this and it's all the arguing and false accusations flying around that make us look bad to the other veiwers of these sites. That's what I hate, especially over on the Muley site.....things usually get ugly over there, and that IS "fuel" for their fire! Everyone is entitled to their opinions and everyone is entitled to post their thoughts here, but we should at least give the individuals involved in this matter the benefit of the doubt. JIM>

It's amazing how different the crowd is on the other site. It seems like more times than not, I get upset when reading through some of the topics and the reply's people post over there. Thanks to everyone here for keeping this site informative and enjoyable and thanks again to Amanda for her time and talent involved in creating CWT.com. I think more importantly, it's the members and what they contribute that makes this site what it is! Thanks guys! JIM>

I have had the opportunity to help a Raffle tag hunter and we made sure to be respectful to any archery tag holders we ran into while they were scouting, and we also made it a point not to hunt during the archery hunt. I beleive it is an unwritten law to avoid the archery season with an Auction or Raffle tag hunter that is using a rifle. Auction and Raffle tags are GREAT for wildlife and the habitat they live in ........The negative publicity and rumors flying around about this particular hunt are BAD. Hopefully this situation disappears quickly before too many "non-hunters" hear about this ......... this could definitely give a boost to the "Anti's" recruitment list ....... I'm sure a few have already been added

Hey guys, I don't think the water situation can get any more "hands on" than this! This was a few years back and this is a wild and free ranging Unit 10 elk. Something obviously was wrong with him and he could barely stand up at first. After the whole event, you'll see he was feeling pretty good! We left him alone for about an hour after this event and he had made it close to a mile to the tree line and disappeared.......I have always believed we saved his life at least for a little while longer! Here's where we found him, unable to jump the fence to make it to the trees so he had no shade....... We got em' up and was able to get him to drink out of my hand...... We were losing too much water that way so he let me hold the bottle up for him.... Then he decided he could do it himself! He seemed to really enjoy drinking from a bottle....he would actually hand it back to me so I could fill it back up with the melted ice water in the cooler! Eventually we ran completely out of water.......and he got a little upset! He literally pushed me over the fence just off camera! I opened a gate about 100 yrds down and we left.......when we came back about an hour later he had gone through and made it to the treeline. It was really cool to physically help an elk like that, I'll never forget it! Thanks to the Arizona Elk Society and the AZGFD there are a bunch of FULL tanks up there right now and new ones being filled every day for the next couple of weeks! Thank you very much guys! JIM>

Gino........those Elk aint buglin'.........You just caught em' lettin' out a burp..... Seriously, I've heard from several poeple they have been buglin' in different areas for about a month now. Nothin' but blowin' the dust off the pipes and usually just little guys playin' around gettin' the itch. Cool pic's! -
Good Birthday card of you and your Pop. Thanks tjhunt2 we all hung out with Pops today....good times

I like that pic you posted with just your feet showin... gives everyone else the view we had! can you imagine how the shot would have been if we would have seen one Pretty much a waste of time! BUT....this is also why we moved to lower country and whacked a 100" buck ( oh...that was a week later though...same conditions )
-
yeah......it don't matter what yer glassin' with in fog.....that was a waste of time that day!
-
Hey David......you think I can fit in your pack? If you carry me up and down North Mtn., I could say I hiked North Mtn. also Hey Casey, you are a freakin animal.....it definitely surprised me at how well you carry your fat a$$ up them hills! The thing is, I will have seen all the deer we passed on the way up, as you are busy tryin' to beat me to the top!
-
My eyes are also too close together and had the same problem. I can't have the front eyecups on the binos at all.......just the thickness of the part that holds them on is too much! I use the Outdoorsmans post and I think it is a little thinner than the Swaro post, might help ya so you don't have to make a mistake and sell your Swaros! You got a great setup there Casey.....now you MIGHT be able to compete with me and my Swarovski arsenal BUT, you know that aint' gonna happen

That guy is NUTS! I'm glad we aint' got them darn Cobras here! It is amazing how they can build a stucture like that as well! Great pic's look forward to more! JIM>
