Draw for Archery Deer from now on....
COOSEFAN replied to muley's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Good points. I am also pumped about being able to hunt there with a bow. We'll also be able to hunt 8 and 9 in January. There's the silver lining! There will be some big ol' bucks prancin' around in January, thinkin' they are safe like they always have been........and WHACK.....my arrow slips through their ribs!!! I wouldn't mind that at all! I still don't like changes of any kind though, but I didn't go to the meetings and speak up, so I wouldn't feel right complainin'! JIM> -

There is absolutely no favoritism..........you know exactly why I deleted your post! I have been deleting the bad words up to that point but you took it too far. I would appreciate it if everyone would be a little more careful in their wording, and if not.... keep it private, or it will get deleted! Thanks, JIM> -

Well it's drivin' me nuts and nobody else is sayin' it.............TJ....tell your buddy that just because he tagged his Turkey on the leg, doesn't mean that's where it goes on a buck I am still in shock at what your buddy got to experience.........I would bet ( as long as TJ doesn't help anymore ) that this guy will appreciate this deer and what he's done ALOT more in the future after some NORMAL Coues hunts and REALITY settles in!!! THAT is an archery buck of a lifetime and I'm having a heck of a time gettin' over my jealousy........but I am happy as heck for the hunter as well.....Great job on an absolutely magnificent critter!!! Preferred vegetation to hunt coues in?
COOSEFAN replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I'm an Ocotillo man myself......but I love the "fairly" open hillsides with Oak or Mesquite and some Ocotillo's mixed in for good measure As far as elevation, I like the lower stuff but I am not kidding I saw Whities last week at less than 200" elevation and they grow em' big down there! JIM> -
Dove hunt turns into archery deer hunt!
COOSEFAN replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Congrats to your friend Casey! That is a purdy archery buck! Did you get any other pic's.......or did ya just throw em' in the truck and run to the dove huntin' spot before it got too late -
That is great to hear about the bucks in our "backyard" Keep tabs on 'em for the future, but nobody should hunt them until the late hunt or the draw hunts....archery is closed in that unit on the first season. Thanks for the update on the deer herds around there! JIM>

Preferred vegetation to hunt coues in?
COOSEFAN replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Hey Doug, you forgot to add one more vegetation type............ JUNGLE! I found where Coues actually live in the jungle last week! I think that would fall under: "Which vegetation type do you like the LEAST!" JIM> -
Way to go Lance!!! I love the double prong character he's got.......one-of-a-kind buck! Great story and fantastic trophy! JIM>
-
Alright.........122 2/8" I always go less on spread to be fair and this buck is probably more like 14" wide, so he may have been 123 and change.....but who cares...what a stud typical!!! There were quite a few sheds on this ranch that had the same characteristics and size of this buck.......pretty exciting! JIM>

I'd have to agree

awesome job to you AZ and your B.I.L.! What a beautiful ram! Thanks for sharin', JIM>
-
Just for size reference..........the G2 on the bucks right antler is 10 3/8" long! Longest G2 I've ever taped......also that and the beam lengths are the only measurements I can remember exactly aside from the total gross score. JIM>

Thanks GH, that Dirk D. feller is one sneaky dude for sure..........I've got my trigger finger coverin' the "delete" button in case he pops up! -
the "hall monitor" is back.......but what is wrong with a pic of a guy telling the camera he's #1.......or is he just showin' off a pair of trophy boogers he just plucked? BTW.......if anyone has any concerns with any content on this site please PM either coueshunter or myself and it will be addressed. Thanks, JIM>
