You know what.......I'm gonna try and get some pic's of Shorty, hog-tied and doin' his thing.....I'ts a sure fire way of attractin' huge bulls! That's how "Elkncoues" killed his 416" bull........and hopefully it works this season also! Be lookin' for the pic's when we return! JIM>

What a brute of a Mulie though!!!
-
You wanna know what the true secret is? We actually hog-tie up a naked Shorty and throw em' out in the bushes............then you just sit back and let his squealin' bring them love crazed bulls right in! What is hard to watch though.......is when it's not a shooter bull that comes in.........and we don't shoot. Shorty really gets to squealin' then and gets some bad hoof marks on his back.....kinda sad, but he's a true sport and he's always willin' to take one for the team! Sorry Shorty.......I had to run with that one JIM>

I'm takin' that as a good sign.....gotta be positive!.........I hate it when they start up too early and your just hopin' it lasts! I'll be up there this evening tyin' a couple 350+ bulls up to a tree (don't worry, I'll leave enough food and water for em' to last until Fri.) Best of luck to all you lucky elk hunters!!! JIM>

COOSEFAN replied to Tines's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I've got a buddy who did the same thing yesterday.....75" 'Loper and a nice 5x5 bull...within hours of each other!! Way to go Lance, I can't wait to read the story and see the pic's!! JIM> -
Here's another buck from Mexico! This one is old and the mount is bad, but check out the webbing on the beams!!! He's got 32" of mass and also the right H4 is the largest I've ever measured! This buck fooled me on score and I was WAY off..........I got too excited about the mass I think! To hopefully make me feel better about being WAY off on my guess..........What do you guys think he gross scores? JIM>
-
Hey guys, I will get my little write up and pic's from my last Mexico trip on here soon! For now, feast your eyes on this awesome critter!!! I am sorry but I cannot remember exactly how long the G1's were or the exact gross score........ This was like the 10th rack I scored that day and I didn't write anything down. Who cares though..........What a cool buck!!! enjoy

HOLY EYEGUARDS!!!!
COOSEFAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
TInes.....that is an awesome buck right there!!! More D..... our ranches are 8 hours south of the border by Obregon. Very neat country! I don't think there is a nuclear site near there though -
AWESOME BUCK!! I love the character......that makes him truly a one-of-a-kind trophy! I would guess 102" ...... congrats! JIM>
-
I'm sorry Amanda, I did not keep the paper I wrote the scores down on and I don't remember exactly. I want to say the beams were just over 19", but I'm guessing. I just remember it scored 118 2/8". I scored a ton of sheds and racks when down there and was just overwhelmed with the awesome bucks! Jason......Yeah these bucks came from our ranches. There are a couple racks and mounts of bucks that the owners or the cowboys actually killed, but the rest are pick-ups that the cowboys brought in. They don't get as excited as I do about the antlers and it only makes me wonder what all is laying out there on the ranches just waitin' for me to go find! With the lack of deer killed on these ranches, I only had the sheds and racks to go off of to get an idea on the quality of deer on the ranch. It was amazing to see how strong the genetics were when you have a pile of sheds collected from the same ranch! It was obvious that for some reason most of the bucks have huge beams and are straight typical 3x3's. Even the bladed beams were very common and huge G3's on the older bucks. I can't wait to get back down this winter to see what we got! Thanks guys. JIM>

Well, before I pulled him off the wall and played with him, I said "out loud" 127"..........and I was a little embarrased when I taped em' out at just over 118" It bothered the heck outta me being that far off, and I had it there in person.........you guys have an excuse 'cause your goin' off pic's! The mass and frame on that critter is absolutely awesome and it got me all excited You defintely don't get enough credit for mass! Thanks guys for playin' along, and great job on the close guesses! JIM>

Freakin' Awesome pics Jason!!! I want more! JIM>

HOLY EYEGUARDS!!!!
COOSEFAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
NO WAY! A guy could lose his credibility playing with Photoshop too much! I always am upfront and honest if I alter a photo! I also have never seen eyegaurds taller than the overall rack before! This buck has some long beams and good mass, but I just can't remember what it scored.......I want to say it was right at 100", but not sure. Thanks guys, JIM> -
Anyone seeing lions while out scouting?
COOSEFAN replied to Bucks_N_Yotes's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Trust me I don't even have kids and I'm broke, so I know how it is! There is a lot of expenses involved with lion hunting and especially when you have a team of guys out there working for you. This makes it hard to cut prices much but I will send you my info. Also I would reccomend contacting Randy or Josh from "Rimrock Outfitters" ( ad on homepage ) and I know they are great guys who would take care of you just as well! Best of luck to ya! JIM> -
First archery coues
COOSEFAN replied to tjhunt2's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Jim....I was wondering if anyone caught that tag. He is on his own from now on. There really are some people jealous and upset with me putting him on that spot but they are the same ones who haven't even pulled their bows out of the case yet and who I helped get started. How easy they forget. Your right Jim about him having some normal hunts to appreciate this one but this is what gives me pleasure helping someone being successful. I hope this experience helps him to bring someone else into our sport and carry on with our great hunting heritage. TJ Hey TJ....I can relate to that and that's exactly why I do what I do Hey Josh, That's great advice that I've never thought about before! All the velvet critters that I've tagged weren't big enough to mount, so I've never had to worry about the velvet much........hopefully one day I get to tag a deer leg for myself -
Dang that landscape and fog brings back memories! That is freakin' awesome Jason! One heck of a Caribou as well! Huge congrats to you! JIM>

Draw for Archery Deer from now on....
COOSEFAN replied to muley's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Good points. I am also pumped about being able to hunt there with a bow. We'll also be able to hunt 8 and 9 in January. There's the silver lining! There will be some big ol' bucks prancin' around in January, thinkin' they are safe like they always have been........and WHACK.....my arrow slips through their ribs!!! I wouldn't mind that at all! I still don't like changes of any kind though, but I didn't go to the meetings and speak up, so I wouldn't feel right complainin'! JIM> -

There is absolutely no favoritism..........you know exactly why I deleted your post! I have been deleting the bad words up to that point but you took it too far. I would appreciate it if everyone would be a little more careful in their wording, and if not.... keep it private, or it will get deleted! Thanks, JIM>
