You'll carry pic's of em' in your wallet......... You'll even give em' a bath and kiss em' goodnight each night after you use them! I do Congrats on the binos! JIM>

I disagree too.......just makin' a funny 'cause I'm still in awe that there are people out there that discredit those animals Would love to hear more and see more pics!

Casey, you know Gino's comment is funny as heck.....but i won't bring it up, sorry Yeah, that pic is better for judgin'...at least for me. I will say that buck is ......... 1 inch from 90" ( + or - ) but I'll still stick with my original guess at just under.

Dilemma, how would you deal with this??
COOSEFAN replied to fatfootdoc's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
dang........couldn't make that point any more clearer! Sorry to hear about your bro, that's a nightmare! I would definitely not worry about hurting anyones feelings on this one......safety is #1. -
Good job on your bucks boys! I would have a better time judging that buck if he would let go of those ears in the frontal pic's! I will say he's 88 5/8" ......... unless Casey scores em', then I'll have to change my guess to 98 5/8" Congrats on a great buck! JIM>

The Bionic Buck......'07 Late Hunt
COOSEFAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
What Lance has to say is definitely words to live by! I have always promoted and beleived in shooting until the animal is finished. It's good for you and alot better for the animal! Unfortunately in my scenario, the buck rolled from where you last seen him on his back, to his belly and once again out of sight behind a tree before the gun could get back on 'em. I stared hard, with the shooter watching through his scope, and never detected movement. I looked to see if we could get a different vantage and there was none and we were losing light. The only thing I regret not doing is leaving the shooter on point while I went up........but I also was going up to a potentially paralyzed buck that may need another shot! It was a tough situation. You may have noticed I waited a while before posting my story........I debated about it because I felt bad about losing an animal and it's not a pretty thing to read about, but I felt that it would be good for us to all learn from it. I put the video on there to illustrate that even though it "appeared" the animal was "anchored", that doesn't mean you got the tag on him yet! What Lance has to say is what this lesson is all about and hopefully it has spared a few of us from a potential loss of an animal in the future Thanks for the comments about the buck he tagged, it is a smaller buck and he passed up a few much bigger ones, but he was very happy and proud of it and that is all that matters! Thanks again, JIM> -

The Bionic Buck......'07 Late Hunt
COOSEFAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Thanks for the reply's. Neo, I did tell 3 other hunters in the area about the buck and where to look for him....never heard if they found em'. Bill, I will try to tell ya about his gun: It started with a Rem. 700 action then added a Hart barrel, Jewel trigger, McMillan stock, and everything has been altered, trued, etc. to make it completely custom. It is a 7MM Mag with a custom 6.5-20X Leupold that he had special crosshairs installed. I know that the bolt and several other parts of the gun have been shaved and fluted to take off weight as well. I had the good fortune to shoot it myself, I had a target at 560 yards with an uphill angle of 11 degrees, turned the target knob to 550 and center punched the target every shot with no problem! I've never been into the long distance shooting stuff and reloading, but I've already got plans on getting my own custom rifle built this Spring! 300ultramag.....we weren't target shooting at rocks.....we were killing them! Tony, the bullet struck above the spine on the left side of the buck and exited the very top of the back on the right side and hit a pile of rocks behind that green bush. There was very little blood......actually I found more small chunks of meat and fat than I did blood! When I saw the buck the next day I had the "exit" side facing me at 100 yards and could clearly see a golfball sized chunk missing out of the top of his back. If you didn't see it, you would have thought that buck had no problems at all watching him run uphill without a limp of any kind! El Fuego, the video on my TV is much clearer and I can clearly see the impact was so forceful that it caused the temporary paralysis, so it was the shock close to the spine that dropped him. I have seen it on one other occasion with a Muley and the exact thing happened.......little blood and after getting up, the buck went for miles with no problems. The whole situation made me sick and upset at myself, but there really wasn't anything I could have done different. I sat for several minutes, with Steve on his gun, making sure the buck didn't get up.........we do that everytime. It had to be the sound of us coming up the hill that got him up but the light was fading too fast for us to see him anyways. Hind-sight.......I should have left Steve on his gun while I put my hands on the buck. BUT, I really thought we needed to put another bullet in him where he lay, so I didn't want to walk up on him without a gun! Crazy situation, just have to learn from it and go on. Thanks again for the reply's, JIM> -
Use the left clicker on the mouse to play.......very addicting game! The best score I could get was 319.3 Anyone get any better? http://n.ethz.ch/student/mkos/pinguin.swf

Awesome pic's guys! My wife brought our new baby home last week and his older bro "Drake" and his new mother figure "Harley" are takin' a liking to him! They do get frustrated with his "tail-biting" though Here's Drake and Brutus Here's Brutus with Harley Brutus is learning that the fat furry thing has a temper and is king of the house.... So he takes out his aggression on his fake cat......which doesn't bite back! When you don't have kids your pets become a huge part of your family.......and these are without a doubt my kids Thanks, JIM>

alright....I've got somethin' harder...........What is the shortest distance you can hit the Pengy? I just hit 71.5............gotta hit em' in his tail! I also can't hit farther than 322.9 and it frustrates the heck outta me!!!!! Gamehauler.......you aint foolin' me.......I know you are probably sluggin' penguins as I type this

I'm with W.T.K., my farthest now is 322.9 and my farthest "pop-fly" is 207.1 A person could spend ALOT of time on this game! I just am curious if there is a limit, or what is the farthest, so far mikep35 has it at 323.5!

WhoooHoooo! There's the story I was waitin' to see! Gino had told me a little about it and deeply expressed how proud he was of Troy's girls and I can see why! What amazes me is that every year I experience at least one or two hunts where I have a full grown adult who either cannot shoot or doesn't want to hunt hard or complains about everything! I know it's my job to put up with some of that, but I would be a much happier guy if every client I had could hunt as hard and shoot as good as you girls. The fact that you girls stuck with it, never complained, and hunted as hard as you needed too is a true testament to the type of hunter you are and will be the rest of your life! You girls have a heck of a start on a long and I'm sure very successful hunting career! Huge congrats to HC1 and HC2 ....... and also congrats to those yahoos that you girls let tag along with ya to share in your experience JIM>

WhooHoooo.... I just got 320.3 I also just wasted alot more of my time today!

Whats the dumbest thing you've done?
COOSEFAN replied to TATAat27's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Tyler, you always have a "full blown" smile........makes for great pic's!!! The dumbest thing.......wow.....there's a bunch! I believe for each dumb thing you do, it makes you that much better as long as you learn from it Here's a few I can remember........ -Playing with razor blades........work related, but resulted in several surgeries.....becuase it happened several times -Transporting a full metal gas can on top of a top terminal battery in back of my brand new $25,000.00 truck....only thing left were three tires and the rims -Getting three whitetail does all fired up with a fawn in distress call........had to beat them off with rocks and my fist -Picking up live rattlesnakes..........I think I saw the light that people talk about ( hope that meant I was on my way to heaven?) -Crawling in a cave with a wounded Javalina..........Pops didn't even talk me out of it -Trusting a mechanic that "supposedly" fixed my 4-wheel drive...........happened last week and made for a LONG cold, wet, and muddy night with a client -Blood-trailing a wounded lion on hands and knees in thick brush at night...........he was still alive and luckily jumped and ran away after the last shot with a pistol at 10 feet away -Going on a 3-day fishin' trip with Pops on Lake Powell in the new Triton with a "severe weather" alert in effect.......I still remember the look on Pops face when the only thing "above" water were the windsheilds of the boat! " " I could go on and on with this thread -
WOW! What a gorgeous buck!!! Great job to you guys on an incredible buck! JIM>

I've been down south for the last 10 days and after the storm blew through a week ago the deer became very active. There were bucks chasing does and sparring, the bigger 80-100" type bucks were close to the action but weren't participating much. I figured the bucks were still in bachelor type groups and although they were still hanging together, the younger bucks drug the rest of the group around checking out new girlfriends. As the storm blew through and things warmed up the activity lessened and by last Mon. the bigger bucks were bedding down just after light and not getting up much till after dark sometime. Last couple of days seemed like an Oct. hunt As far as the first part of the hunt went.......opening day was the day to "get-er-done".....hopefully it gets cold and nasty down there again soon! JIM>

Way-to-go-Joe! Great buck, love the character! That's awesome you and Richie got to hunt together and had a successful trip! Congrats dude JIM>
