Arizona Elk Society Big Lake Work Project
COOSEFAN replied to rthrbhntng's topic in Wildlife Projects
Hey Chrissy, I know it's a long shot, but your sister isn't named Becky is she? I've got a wedding on the 31st also and my buddy is marrying a girl named Becky. -
Hey guys, I took my boys (Drake & Brutus) to the river today and got some cool pic's. This was to be Brutus' first time in deep water and he did great runnin' and playing in the shallows on the short hike in to the cliffs. Once up on the cliffs he and Drake got out on the edge and Drake started sliding down! Brutus, thinking this is all planned, follows and soon realizes there is no turning back!!! With all his might, Brutus tried to keep his butt stuck to the cliff but it flipped over his head and he then flipped into the water behind Drake! Both surfaced and frantically started to swim........ Now the problem was Brutus is panicking and he swims back to the cliff. You can see the water is pretty nasty and I wasn't going in after him, but luckily my buddy's wife was close and helped Brutus out. Notice Drake was smart, he made it out to the shallow end and ran back to assist in the rescue mission! All in all it was a great day spent with my boys........although, I think Brutus is a little upset that i didn't jump in to help him

I can remember doing stuff like that when i was younger I'm too young to be feeling as old as I do.......but it's because of doing stoopid stuff like that! thanks JIM>
-
Awesome story and pic's! Congrats to Sam! JIM>
-
Whoo Hoo! Great story and pic's there Gina! Awesome bird too......Congrats! JIM>
-
Thanks guys, Drake is 2 years old and Brutus is 5 months. I didn't rescue Brutus 'cause I thought he would gain some experience out of the situation, if he had went under I would have jumped in! Doug, that is the same spot you mentioned above! I've been going there for alot of years, it's usually a great place to shoot carp if the water levels are just right. We've had years where the river dries up and a pool will be left around those rocks.......if this happens just right, then the pool will be loaded full of carp that are just beggin' to be arrowed! Last weekend there was only 1 bass swimming around in there and a few dead carp layin' around.

That is where i took my pups last weekend to play in the water. Not long ago that area was turning into a dump fast with all the trashy people tearin' the place up. It used to be a favorite spot becuase you could get away with not paying a fee to access the lake.....that was what drew all the trashy people there! It was good to see the place cleaned up, but there were still people breaking the rules with offroad driving and not obeying the signs. There was a G+F officer at the entry point as stated also. JIM>

Alright, it may just be me, but I'm bored with the lack of interesting topics here! For example, we've resorted to having a "guess the score" contest with the bull on the "Elk Crossing" sign (BTW.....Lance is right, it's a dink 5 so why bother?) And you know times are lean when all you've got to post about is your trophy skunk hunt (i actually enjoyed that one though) I want to see pic's of trophy critters you guys have, I don't even care if we've seen em' once or five times before. There is plenty of Newbies here now that will be seein' em' for the first time, so, post up your favorites and tell us why it's your favorite! I know this type of thread shows up annually, but I need a fix now that it's the "slow" time of the year! Let's see em'! Thanks, JIM>

You must remember Casey's new word....... HOLE -- adjective. Used in place of the word Whole. <I blew the HOLE rabbit to pieces> -
Wow! You sellin' yer baby? What ya gonna get next? I bet that will sell fast........them Scout people are nuts about Scouts and that's a nice one! JIM>

Hey, I actually pay Photobucket to handle all my photos! I've got close to 1000 photos on there along with 8 videos.......I think that's why they charge me? SO....I think Gamehauler needs to donate his $1.00 to me for NOT uploading to the site! BTW......Gamehauler makes a valid point there........it is best to get a hosting site such as Photobucket to store your photos....the site is takin' a hit if most of these photos are being loaded on to it. Photobucket is free (if you don't use it a bunch) and is very easy to use.........I reccomend using it to store your photos and share them!

OK.....I was goin through the album and I gotta add a few more...... These are a few more of my favorites because.......... Because it was a lifelong dream of taggin' a spot n' stalk archery 'loper.......... Because it's my biggest AZ Coues.......... Because it's the first critter I've taken while wearin' blaze orange .............. Because they just don't grow 6x6 bulls much bigger than this one............... Because the ol' man let me tag along.............. And lastly becuase the critter was an absolute beast..........
-
WHOOO HOOO! This is awesome and is exactly what I needed! One of the main reasons why I love this site is getting to see everyone's trophy critters, quality photos and the tale of the hunt! Everyone here has some excellent critters and amazing experiences.......Thank you for sharing it all with us! JIM>

That's a gorgeous bird there Dan!!! The SC Rez is an amazing place to hunt Turkeys!!! Congrats to you all! JIM>

Help me pick out tires.....
COOSEFAN replied to AzPacknHorns's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I went through last season with those Pro Comps, same size but in the 18" rim. They held up great and the tread wear was awesome.....BUT, watch out for creosote branches! I put a creosote branch through the sidewall on a brand new $350.00 Pro Comp....which can happen to any tire though! I now run the new BFG Muds ( 35x12.5 R17 ) on my F-250 and they are and have always been my favorite. These new ones look as though they will be just as good as the last version of BFG muds. I know several guys who have gotten well over 50,000 miles outta the muds!!! Good luck. Here's the 35x12.5 R17 NEW BFG Muds............. -
You are a killin' machine Scottyboy! No wonder you have to do your own taxidermy Thanks for the pic's....I always enjoy seein' em! JIM>
-
10-4 That's one awesome buck......I'd love to know what he'd tape out at with all that length! Thanks for postin'! JIM>
-
That's a gorgeous bear you got there Snapshot! Hey mathewp45, That there is one Freak of a typical muley I remember that buck somehow, and for some reason I'm thinking that buck could see the twinkle of city lights every night....that true? Outstanding photo and buck!
-
OUCH! And of all places.......did ya get any pic's? She could get it framed as her largest catch and release!
-
I HIGHLY doubt it beavis....besides, I've seen my pics....I want to see everyone elses! Tony counts and i hope he adds to this!
-
Like usual I don't think I have any one favorite, they are all special. But these are favorites because................. Because it was Alaska and because of the incredible size of the critter........... Because of how hard I hunted and who I shared it with............ Because these are both our biggest and because Pops and I hunted together for them........Also they both score almost the same, mine 109 5/8 and Pops 109 7/8! Because it was spot n' stalk and mainly 'cause it was with a bow............ I'll stop there..........I can justify any critter I've taken as my favorite for one reason or other, but those have to be top of the list.......I think Thanks for all the great pic's! JIM>
-
"The creating of Firstlionwasakitten" That was hilarious Casey! That was smart to beat em' to it......you took all the fun out of makin' fun of ya! Thanks for the pic's guys, let's see more!
-
Me, too!! But I also would like a Coues Deer Super Raffle tag!!! Now that's just gettin' greedy!
-
The Super Raffle tag.........................for Muley (sorry CWT.com.......but it's true ) I just want one big ol' knuckle draggin' beast of a Muley........then I'll happily hunt Coues for the rest of my life
