I had a client take a bull to them which they mounted as a floor pedestal and it turned out amazing! He was very happy with them and their work! Thanks for joining the family here! JIM> -
The good part is that he did not leave ATV tracks all over! Exactly! You are a stud, that's a lot of work but you always make it pay off! Great job and thanks for always sharin' the pics! JIM>

HA HA HA!!! I've got a hundred different ideas on how I can trick my buddies with these things, until you see the square rod sticking out of the base you'd have a hard time recognizing them as fake at first! With my luck (lack of) at finding sheds, I might have to set a few up for me to find just to make me feel better!

Thanks for the reply's guys! It is funny looking now that you mention it, Matt does look sawed off at the waist! We are actually on a steep cliff, it was the only place I liked for the photos. We all had to barely hang on to get into position but it was worth it, i thought the pics were great. One thing to mention also is Tyler lost a fight with the lantern the night before and burned the side of his face pretty bad. The burn was from the corner of his mouth up to his right eye and the size of a tennis ball! I photoshopped all the pics so that Tyler wouldn't have to remember the burn and the battle he lost with the flying lantern! He's alright and shouldn't be any bad scaring at all but sure felt bad for him. I know that if it had been me I would have went home cryin' to mommy but Tyler sucked it up and went huntin'!!! Story to follow.......

Very sorry to hear of your loss Amanda. It's obvious she was a very lucky dog to have you and Paul as parents and she had a very long and happy life! Thanks for sharing the memory of her and the beautiful pictures of her with us! JIM

Awesome story Aaryn, I'm definitely proud of you and proud of your daddy! I remember when you were just a newborn and we always talked about the fact we knew you were going to be a hunting fool like the rest of us, now you are well on your way! Congratulations to you Aaryn, great job!!! JIM>

WOW! Kevin, you have a coues collection that i can only dream about, huge congrats on yet again another amazing buck!!! JIM> -
Buck of a lifetime! Thanks for the great writeup and congrats!!! JIM>
-
Awesome bucks for sure!! I had a similar buck like Bases on camera numerous times as well, same type of 2 point frame with trash on the base. Also, that pic of you guys in the mud brings back memories for me too, I sunk my truck in a lake (in the middle of the road), had to call out a mechanic and now i have a bent piston rod and a loud "tick" in my engine! The water was everywhere down there! Congrats again on what looks like an amazing trip! JIM>

Thanks a bunch for all the great reply's everyone! My rifle was built by a friend of mine by the name Jim Mehl. It's a Rem. Mod 700 action, Hart barrel, Lazzeroni Thumbhole by Macmillan stock, 6.5x20x50 VX3 Leupold Long Range target scope, and it's all been seriously fine tuned and accurized by my friend. The gun only likes once fired brass and 180gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. I wish you all could see that deer I shot in person, it's the craziest thing I've ever seen. The pic's don't illustrate it very much and I'm sitting pretty far back, look at my hand on his back in that one pic, kinda gives you a better idea on size. I have killed bigger javalina! His rack compared to his body size made him look huge framed and I never tried hard to identify any other details, I just knew it had to be the buck I messed up on. The rancher told us before hand that there was a smaller specie of coues in the tops of the mountains on his ranch. When he walked up to mine he motioned to me that what i killed was exactly what he told us about prior. Makes you wonder! I know it's even hard to hear my story about passing that buck up, but just imagine how I felt that day and even today about it!!! IT SUCKS! But what made it worse was being in that position the very next day when the sun jammed me up on that shot... that buck was bigger!!! I had two solid mid 130" class or better bucks on the same hillside, passed one up multiple times and missed the other at less than 100 yards, that's hard to swallow for sure! Rookie mistakes and I've been beating myself up about em' ever since. I know I should have shot and sorted it out later, but I honestly thought i had the time to get confirmation from the ranch owner, the buck was rutted up and stupid! I also know I should have taken the tail shot, I was rock solid on it, it was only 120 yards and I was shooting a 180gr bullet out of my .300 WinMag cannon, but it just didn't feel right at the time and again, I thought I was gonna get a broadside shot. There is a ton of things I should've done in hindsight, but doesn't change anything now. It's all good, I can say I wacked a coues with 1 shot at 756 yards.......and I guess I can now say I passed up a mid 130"s buck at 120 yards It was an amazing experience and an incredibly humbling experience for me, but I guarantee you, I've never been more determined to kill a couple certain bucks than I am right now! I've got 2 130" class bucks and I know at least one is gonna eat lead next December....mark my words Thanks again guys for reading my story and for the great reply's! JIM>

OK, so now my brother Matt and good friend of ours Wayne showed up with bows in hand and ready to whack their first archery deer with me! This was going to be fun as I had some great bucks hitting water! Here's some of the bucks....... Matt and Wayne decided to sit together in the same blind as Matt was supposed to videotape Wayne. Around mid-day a 97" buck comes running in to the water and Wayne draws back. Just before the buck gets to the water, another, bigger framed buck charges out from right next to the blind and chases the 97" off! This bigger buck runs in to the water, stands broadside and Wayne punches em' through the ribs, the buck bolts with blood flying everywhere and dissappears. Just then the 97" buck runs back in and Wayne just hands Matt his bow and says "take em'"! Matt draws and hammers this buck as well and it dies less than 100 yards from the tank! This all took place in less than 10 seconds and those boys were beside themselves with excitement! They waited 1 1/2 hours before tracking Wayne's buck which they felt was the easiest one to find. They bumped the buck which was amazingly still alive and then backed off and went to get Matt's buck. Matt's buck was done and for the rest of the day a bunch of us followed the tracks of Wayne's buck. There was no blood trail, just where he rubbed on brush but that soon dissappeared. Wayne and Matt stayed 1 more day and we had horses and folks on foot scouring the country looking and couldn't find his buck. Wayne and Matt had to leave for home as they only had a few days anyway and I swore we'd give it our best in the search after they left. For Two days we were on horseback and on foot and finally on the 3rd day one of the cowboys finally found Waynes buck! It had stayed in the same line of travel but had gone another 600 yards from last blood with a center body liver hit. Neither Matt nor Wayne looked at tines when they shot this buck, they just knew he was a shooter. This buck is almost 100" as a 2 point and has over 5" G1's and over 18" beams with good mass! Wayne and Matt are stoked to say the least with their great archery coues bucks, congrats again guys! Here's Matt's buck, the "deer findin' posse" and me with the horse that, aside from dragging me under a few low trees, he was pretty gentle with me! And the only pic I've got so far of Wayne's big ol' 2 point! And lastly, my friend Scott and his buddy Brian decided to give the Muleys a break and we went out for a day and Brian hammered his first ever Coues buck! All he needed to see was those eyeguards and the lead was flyin'! Congrats to Brian also, he was very excited to tag out on a great first coues buck! If you've read through this entire, drawn out story of mine, thanks!! I was down there for a long time but it was an incredible experience to say the least and I can't wait till next year, I've got a couple bucks that know I'm gonna be after em' again and next time I won't mess up! Here's a couple last pics of a neat fog-filled morning i had last week, thanks again and take care, JIM> I almost forgot.....check out this beast that was found on one of the ranches! 144" as is!!!

Missed a Monster in Mexico!
COOSEFAN replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Wow! Sorry to hear about the miss but hey, what an experience!! You will get your giant buck, just a matter of time As for those white trees, down in Obregon they had a few, not near as many as are around where you hunted, but down there they called them "Palo Santo" trees. They swore the flowers from that tree were the Coues' favorite and that the coues would intentionally rake their antlers on those trees to knock off the flowers! LOL! Most of those trees are too big to shake, but I did watch a coues buck eating what flowers were already on the ground. Last week near Magdalena I was corrected and informed they are called "Palo Blanco" just as you stated. -
You guys definitely deserve all the bone you find, it shows hard work and dedication can pay off! Great job, thanks for the pics! JIM>

Absolute Giant!!!! Congratulations to you!! JIM>

Cola Blanca Outfitters takes another GIANT
COOSEFAN replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Sponsor Spotlight
That double beamer ranks up there as one of the neatest bucks I've ever seen taken, absolutely amazing character!!! Congrats to all the hunters and great outfit!!! JIM> -
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! I agree Doug, black just isn't my color I spent the day out chasing lions with a few CWT.com members and had some fun. One of the cats was jumped just before dark and the dogs had to be pulled off because we were losing light. They were back at it again today but haven't heard any news yet. Not a bad way to spend a birthday! Thanks again everyone! JIM>

You're just whackin' n' stackin' em! I'm way jealous, huge congrats to you! BTW....we share the same birthday, hope yours is a great one! JIM>
