Hey guys, my bro n' law has a pair of Leicas he's ready to part with. He's got the Leica Trinovid's and they are used. There are some scratches on them and there is a small dent on an objective ring. He took them to the Outdoorsmans to send them back to Leica hoping they would clean them up, but Outdoorsmans said these binos don't need anything, they work fine. When used they function as though they are brand new, he said they appear used but function like new and are very clear, and the guys at Outdoorsmans agree. He's asking $500.00 and is firm on that price as he's already dropped the price down to that hoping they will sell fast. PM me if you would like to talk with him and I'll get you his contact info. Thanks. JIM>

Right On Ty-man!!! I was so happy to hear you drew your first elk tag! If you thought your Javalina hunt was fun, just wait until your elk hunt!!! You are gonna kill a good bull buddy, and I'm gonna make sure I'm watchin' over your shoulder again! I can't wait! Take care buddy! Uncle Jim.

Glad you guys enjoy'ed the pics! I've always figured the drawings are of things the indians saw or experienced in their lives back then and think it's neat to interpret these drawings to get a glimpse of what they saw back then. This hill where I took these pics is where I find Gila Monsters frequently, moreso than any other place and I noticed that there are a bunch of lizard or maybe Gila Monster depictions all over the place! I would think it was a critter commonly encountered back then as well on that mountain! Those bees had a hive in a crack under a ledge, what saved me was the wind! The wind was blowing hard on that hill and the bees that got me were clinging to my shirt and stung me through my shirt, the swarm quickly disappeared with the wind thankfully! I really didn't scream, but I did run like a girl! LOL!!! I have never seen Elk petroglyphs either, very interesting! Here's one of the Gila's I've seen near this mountain, you can see the mountain in the background where all my petroglyph pics were taken!

How long has it been since you been drawn for bull elk
COOSEFAN replied to joeybari's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Jim, I can imagine how frustrated you are, and rightly so, not drawing an elk tag and I feel your frustration along with all the others in your catagory. I know you are saying, I possibly can't feel your frustration, after drawing 20 elk tags in as many years but believe me I do. I see you and a few others are always saying I don't put in for trophy tags and I understand your point of view. I personnally don't use that word ( TROPHY ) in my hunting vocabulary. I think of a trophy as something you get at a bowing alley. I love to hunt and I'ld rather go hunting every year than wait several years not drawing a tag because I think a big bull is not more important than the hunting experience itself. My way of thinking isn't on the same page as alot of you who want to put a big bull on the wall or in the books but I do respect your decisssion. I don't keep it a secret and never have that I hunt 22 and I have a million memories with my late Mother on those hunts. I wouldn't change a thing. I love to hunt and that is what is most important to me in life. I play the odds because I am a hunter and want to hunt, period. I really envy you and your outfitter's business and know you are a class act and hope you finally draw that tag someday you have been waiting on. TJ Thanks TJ, I admire your thoughts and reasoning. I'm more frustrated for other folks rather than myself, I just hope I don't have to wait as long as they have! I'd be perfectly fine with a lesser demand hunt but I've got a certain hunt that I really want and have never gotten it. In the meantime I've watched MANY folks draw the same hunt multiple times over the years while i've been (somewhat) patiently waiting! It's not because I just want to kill a book bull, for me it's mainly because I want to have that certain tag in my pocket and finally get to hunt for myself in my favorite unit! I can kill a bull that meets my standards on a lesser demand hunt, I just want that certain tag once and then I'll do exactly as you have and play the odds to get a tag more often -
HA! Nice work there Tony, got me for a second or two! LOL!

How long has it been since you been drawn for bull elk
COOSEFAN replied to joeybari's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I don't know if it would be a better system or not. Most people that do draw consecutive are putting in for lesser demand hunts, but that's not who I'm talking about. I'm talking about the folks who have drawn Unit 9, 10, 8, 7W, etc. back to back or 3 outta the last 5 years, etc.! My thought on the 3 year wait for high demand hunts is that 3 years aint much to wait and it would keep me from having to hear about all the back to back "trophy" tags that people get! I'm seriously happy for and jealous of those folks, no doubt, but what about those folks that have 15, 16, 17 points?! I feel bad for those guys! Sure, those guys could put in for an easy tag with less trophy potential and get it, but after waiting that long I'd hate doing it! I'm only talking about the high demand tags, if they were limited to a waiting period it's gotta allow more folks a crack at em'?!?! I remember a story, don't remember where I heard it, but it was from a guy who was really hoping his father would draw an elk tag. His father had a bunch of points and his health was failing him and his dad's longtime dream was to hunt a big bull elk in Arizona one last time before he died. It was his fathers deepest passion and their whole family prayed he would draw a tag because they knew how much it meant to him. They weren't putting in for early rifle tags in 9 or 10, they were just trying to get a good tag with a reasonable chance at a decent bull and kept getting rejected over the years. All the while they would hear every year of the guys drawing back to back trophy tags! That would suck! That story was from several years ago and it was after they found out he had again failed to draw a tag, and i think that was the last year they felt he would be able to hunt! Definitely hadn't forgotten about that story and think about it every year at this time. JIM> -
How long has it been since you been drawn for bull elk
COOSEFAN replied to joeybari's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Now here's a thread I can fit in with my 8 points, but not as much as some of you! Hearing about you poor folks sittin' there with 15+ points makes ME feel better! What sucks every year is hearing about the folks drawing back to back Trophy elk tags or every other or even every three years drawing Trophy elk tags. I fully understand the guys like TJ who apply for an easy draw tag and get a tag consistently, I'd do the same if i didn't have points. But those guys drawing trophy hunts consistently really bugs me and I can't help but wonder how that's possible, but it is what it is. I just want a tag and right now I'm just experiencing my annual feeling of rejection I really think a 3 year waiting period would help make things a bit more fair, that would have to help lessen the amount of folks that have waited 10+ years for a bull tag! I am happy for those with tags though, gonna be some big antlers this year! JIM> -
WOOOOHOOOO! I got another bonus point for elk and another point for antelope! I'm sooo excited! I just can't wait to get rid of all my bonus points! Congrats to all the lucky folks!

Hey TJ, you definitely got it figured out buddy! I can't wait to get rid of my bonus points so I can go elk hunting every year! Congrats to you guys! JIM>

Well this happened a few weeks ago but i just now got my computer working again so here it is. My nephew Tyler, 11 yrs old, finally drew a tag and we made it a family trip. The hunt only lasted 2 days but it was a blast! I got to sit next to Tyler and had a front row seat to watch him hammer his pig at 150 yards with one shot! He is writing the story as we speak and I'll add it to this post when I get it. I am super proud of him and of his daddy for getting Tyler into hunting....not like he had a choice in the matter **Alright, here's the story of Tyler's first hunt as told by Tyler himself! Way to go again Ty-man, you are well on your way buddy! Uncle Jim> Hi my name is Tyler Mullins and I am 11 years old. For a long time my papa, dad and uncles have been hunting and I couldn’t wait until my dad would let me go out hunting with them. I am thankful that my dad would take me on lots of scouting trips during my summer breaks looking for big bulls and teaching me how to find animals. After every scouting trip I could not wait to get started on my first big game hunt. I was finally able to get my hunter safty class finished and then I had to shoot alot and make some scouting trips for pigs. I did shoot a lot but we never saw any pigs when were scouting. There was lots of tracks but the wether was bad every time we went out. I was shooting a old 308 magnum that my uncle tom shot his first pig with when he was my age with papa in the same unit I hunted for my first hunt. Opening day of my hunt came and I was very excited to go find some pigs. The wether was bad agin so my dad said that we would go glassing and scouting our hunting area. We drove a long time until we found a spot that “PW” the pig whisperer, (thats what my uncle calls him) told my dad about. The spot looked really good and not long after we sat down to glass for animals my dad said I got pigs. I got to look through the binos at them and it was awesome to see them running around and how cool it would be if I could get one of them. Me, my brother Cody, dad and travis were going after them now. Travis is a friend of my dad and he had a pig tag too but he said that I could shoot one first before he would shoot one. Thanks to travis he waited for me to shoot first and the pigs got away that time. My Uncle Jim and papa couldn’t be there until later on the first day so they would have missed me shooting my first pig. My dad called papa and jim to tell them that he has a good spot now and to hurry up and get there. We left those pigs to go get my uncle for the afternoon hunt. Uncle jim got to camp and it was getting late so we went out to try varmit calling. Uncle Jim turn on the call and said that a fox was coming tous. Then he said that another fox was coming and then he said bobcat. I didn’t know what to do so I just kept the gun pointed where he said the fox was. All of a sudden I could see the fox right in front of me. Uncle jim said there he is and then I shot, BOOM the fox was gone. I hit him really hard because I saw the hair go everywhere and all I could find was meat and hair. I will use a smaller gun when I hunt foxes with Uncle jim again. I had a really fun time with everybody that afternoon but we never saw anymore pigs that day. Now the second day of my hunt was starting. We went to the same spot from the first day where I could not get the shot at the pigs. The wether was going bad again but we had Uncle Jim, PW, papa, Travis, Cody and dad to help find me a pig. PW (Brian) found some pigs really fast and I got excited again. We were looking at the pigs in the binos for a minute and my dad said there is pigs right by us. I saw a coyote running past me with the pigs running after him. Now I was really excited. The pigs turned and went back down the canyon and we went to the edge to look for them. We couldn’t find them again so PW went to find some more. After PW left us Uncle Jim found my pig in the canyon by some trees trying to get out of the rain. There was 2 pigs so Travis could shoot one too this time but I still got to shoot first. Uncle Jim told me to get down and try to get a rest and then find the pig in my scope. I found the pig and then took my safety off and shot her. I had my first big game animal down. There was still 1 pig there so travis got to get his pig too. We were all soo excited and I couldn’t believe I finally got my pig. Papa, Uncle Jim, PW, Cody and Dad were so excited for me and Travis and I was too. It was awesome I am thankful that my papa taut my dad and uncle how to hunt so they could teach me how to hunt. I would like to thank dad, mom, papa, my uncles, PW, Travis, and Cody for being with me on my first hunt. Thanks mostly to God for every thing I have in my life. Tyler Matthew Mullins

Hey Gino, those sheds look REAL nice next to MY fireplace right now! Let me know if you all want better pics, although I think Butters got some good ones already. Clay, Butters' signature originated a long time ago when I set up his profile on here. I had originally made his signature say that I was his hero, but he figured out how to change it. Also I helped him with his name wich has several meanings, one is way too funny and graphic to mention here, and the other is basically because I love "Butters" from SouthPark and Bryan reminds me of him....even looks like him too! Don't you see the similarities??? Here's a pic of Bryan with a nice bass......

Hey there Tyler! Very glad to see you on here buddy! You shouldn't feel embarrased about singing and dancing after taking your first critter, I guarantee everyone on this site has sung and danced at some point, especially when they took their first animal!!! You deserved to sing and dance, it was a moment none of us will forget! Hey Christian, according to Ty's candid post here, it sounds like you might owe Tyler something nice in return for drinkin' all his dad's money away! LOL!!!! I love the emoticon he used too, " " That was classic!

Very cool Wayne! Again, thanks for sharing your story with us here, that was a hunt to remember for sure! I'm not sure if you had Popps photo or not but I'll post t up. Popps was holding out for a big bull but on his last day he couldn't pass up this nice 6x6. The best part was that his grandson "Drake" got to be there to experience it all! LOL! Drake got his paws on more elk in 3 days than ever before! Also, here is a link to Matts video of his bull. The Lamanna's are good friends of ours so keep an eye out for them on TV in the near future with more of our hunts! http://blog.lamannas.com/Shows/GrandCanyon...11/Default.aspx *
