    Outfitter Killed

I'm pretty sure I found out that he was an outfitter based out of Scottsdale and specialized in Sonora. Maybe he was going down to scout or something. I've got a trip planned in a couple weeks and will be traveling through Santa Ana as usual, just won't be the same anymore. I think I'm just gonna leave one of my trucks down there and start flying instead, safer, easier and faster!

    Outfitter Killed

Has anyone heard of that Mr. Ryan before? That's very sad and very scary. If he was a hunter or an outfitter then he is the first one that I've heard of being killed on the Sonora side of Mexico. Up until now I've been able to say that I've never heard of any hunters being killed or harmed. There's no turkey's in Santa Ana so he must've been just driving through if he was hunting?!?! Sucks to hear of this.

    Mounts back up for sale

How much for that bugling bull mount? Do you think it would be possible to cut the antlers off and drill holes in the skull plate/pedicles to attach removable reproductions? The repro's are heavy so it would need a well anchored base and I think it's 1" square solid tubing coming out of the repro's. Thanks, JIM>

    I finally did it!!!

No doubt it was the hat, but I'm sure your ability to shoot a group like that at 50 yards helped a little too

Great job! I've tagged a few Fall archery hens but have yet to arrow a gobbler, hopefully one of these days! Congrats on the accomplishment! JIM>
  6. I've hunted up there a bunch and there is just something magical about it! On that Muzzy hunt, as well as the others, you'll get out of it what you put into it! The weather will determine where you will be finding the deer and scouting a bunch prior will help you understand the different elevations and ways to navigate through the different elevations. Knowing that stuff will help you make the most of your hunt especially if the weather changes right before or during your hunt. It's the Kaibab so you know there's a chance at seeing a giant buck, but in reality they are still few and far between. The good thing is that on average you will see a bunch of good bucks ranging from 140" - 170" and if a 160"-170" class buck is what you want then by all means that's the hunt you want! Plus you just never know what will step out at any given time while on the Kaibab! Any hunt on the Kaibab is a good hunt and worth the points in my opinion. If you do draw that tag or if you have any further questions I would reccomend calling Duwayne Adams at (520) 385-4995. Nobody knows it or has as much experience on that hunt than Duwayne. Ask him about his Map service if you are wanting to do it yourself, everyone I've talked to swears by it JIM>

  12. I usually try and stay away from political stuff, but I just recieved this and want to share it with everyone. How could anyone be opposed to this new law??? The fact that there are people opposing it is scary and hopefully it's just because they don't fully understand what the law is or what is actually going on in the real world...HOPEFULLY! JIM> _______________________________________________________________ I'm Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen. I want to explain SB 1070 which I voted for and was just signed by Governor Jan Brewer. Rancher Rob Krantz was murdered by the drug cartel on his ranch a month ago. I participated in a senate hearing two weeks ago on the border violence, here is just some of the highlights from those who testified. The people who live within 60 to 80 miles of the Arizona/Mexico Border have for years been terrorized and have pleaded for help to stop the daily invasion of humans who cross their property . One Rancher testified that 300 to 1200 people a DAY come across his ranch vandalizing his property, stealing his vehicles and property, cutting down his fences, and leaving trash. In the last two years he has found 17 dead bodies and two Koran bibles. Another rancher testified that daily drugs are brought across his ranch in a military operation. A point man with a machine gun goes in front, 1/2 mile behind are the guards fully armed, 1/2 mile behind them are the drugs, behind the drugs 1/2 mile are more guards. These people are violent and they will kill anyone who gets in the way. This was not the only rancher we heard that day that talked about the drug trains. One man told of two illegal's who came upon his property one shot in the back and the other in the arm by the drug runners who had forced them to carry the drugs and then shot them. Daily they listen to gun fire during the night it is not safe to leave his family alone on the ranch and they can't leave the ranch for fear of nothing being left when they come back. The border patrol is not on the border. They have set up 60 miles away with check points that do nothing to stop the invasion. They are not allowed to use force in stopping anyone who is entering. They run around chasing them, if they get their hands on them then they can take them back across the border. Federal prisons have over 35% illegal's and 20% of Arizona prisons are filled with illegal's. In the last few years 80% of our law enforcement that have been killed or wounded have been by an illegal. The majority of people coming now are people we need to be worried about. The ranchers told us that they have seen a change in the people coming they are not just those who are looking for work and a better life. The Federal Government has refused for years to do anything to help the border states. We have been over run and once they are here we have the burden of funding state services that they use. Education cost have been over a billion dollars. The healthcare cost billions of dollars. Our State is broke, $3.5 billion deficit and we have many serious decisions to make. One is that we do not have the money to care for any who are not here legally. It has to stop. The border can be secured. We have the technology we have the ability to stop this invasion. We must know who is coming and they must come in an organized manner legally so that we can assimilate them into our population and protect the sovereignty of our country. We are a nation of laws. We have a responsibility to protect our citizens and to protect the integrity of our country and the government which we live under. I would give amnesty today to many, but here is the problem, we dare not do this until the Border is secure. It will do no good to forgive them because thousands will come behind them and we will be over run to the point that there will no longer be the United States of America but a North American Union of open borders. I ask you what form of government will we live under? How long will it be before we will be just like Mexico, Canada or any of the other Central American or South American countries? We have already lost our language, everything must be printed in Spanish also. We have already lost our history it is no longer taught in our schools. And we have lost our borders. The leftist media has distorted what SB 1070 will do. It is not going to set up a Nazi Germany. Are you kidding. The ACLU and the leftist courts will do everything to protect those who are here illegally, but it was an effort to try and stop illegal's from setting up businesses, and employment, and receiving state services and give the ability to local law enforcement when there is probable cause like a traffic stop to determine if they are here legally. Federal law is very clear if you are here on a visa you must have your papers on you at all times. That is the law. In Arizona all you need to show you are a legal citizen is a driver license, MVD identification card, Native American Card, or a Military ID. This is what you need to vote, get a hunting license, etc.. So nothing new has been added to this law. No one is going to be stopped walking down the street etc... The Socialist who are in power in DC are angry because we dare try and do something and that something the Socialist wants us to do is just let them come. They want the "Transformation" to continue. Maybe it is too late to save America. Maybe we are not worthy of freedom anymore. But as an elected official I must try to do what I can to protect our Constitutional Republic. Living in America is not a right just because you can walk across the border. Being an American is a responsibility and it comes by respecting and upholding the Constitution, the law of our land which says what you must do to be a citizen of this country. Freedom is not free.

Hey Bonecollector, I hear what you are saying but this site is set up so that you can view what ever you want to view. If you don't like the political discussions then don't open up that forum. I'm right there with ya, I usually stay away from any politcal discussions and rarely ever go into that forum here. If you or anyone else sees a political type of thread being discussed in any forum other than in the Political Discussions forum, let the moderators know and we'll get it moved. The different forums with varied topics are there so that you, the user, can choose what he or she wants to read or take part in. I think that the different various topics that can be shared here on this one site are what make it one of the best sites out there. It's nice to see Elk hunting stories, fishing stories, bird hunting stories, or even current events regardless if it's political or not and still be rooted around our beloved little Coues deer

    Turkey for Pops...

Howdy all, I'm back from huntin' Turkeys with Pops! Pops had the tag and I went up early to try and locate some birds. The wind was terrible, the snow started falling and to make it all worse, the Turkeys were non-existent! Pops showed up on Thurs. and soon realized for himself it was gonna be a tough hunt. We hunted hard on Friday morning with no sign or sound of Turkeys and changed tactics. Pops and I headed lower and found where some Turkeys had been feeding and even worked in to 130 yards of a big struttin' gobbler but had no luck calling him in. Saturday morning dawned clear and calm and as we later learned it would be our only time without high winds or snow during the whole trip! Pops and I made the most of it, we headed back to where we saw that big gobbler. After hiking in to the spot Pops decided we should set up and try calling. We had yet to hear a gobble from this spot but it was our best chance. Right after some short yelps a gobble sounded off about 200 yards above us! I took off to get away from Pops but in line with the Tom and Pops and I both started calling. The Tom stayed higher and moved back and forth but after about 30 minutes we finally had 2 Jakes coming in! The Jakes stopped 10 yards in front of Pop's gun and started milling around and puttin'. Both Jakes were bearded and legal and I give dad tons of credit for not poundin' one of them! He was determined to take a true gobbler in true turkey hunting fashion! I kept up with some subtle yelps and purrs to keep the Jake's attention on me and finally the gobbler that was still up high had enough! He didn't like the fact the Jake's had a hen and finally here he came! He was in full strut and gobbling as he made his way down the hill for about 80 yards. He made it to the Jakes which were still on top of dad and began struttin' around and gobbling! From where I sat I could only see the top of his fan as he strutted around but knew any second Pops was gonna "boom-flop" em'! Finally, just as he stuck his neck out from behind a tree to gobble...BOOM! Pops didn't even let him finish his gobble as he pounded em', putting him down hard and fast! I jumped up, with all the calls i had placed on my lap flying everywhere and ran over to Pops! You could tell that it was indeed a special moment for him and it definitely was for me, it was a long time coming for Pops to take his first ever Turkey and it couldn't have happened more perfect! Although antlered critters have always been his focus, he's hunted Turkeys his whole life and has taught me all I know about em'. He's been with me when I've taken birds but he's never been able to wrap a tag on a Turkey for himself....until now! That evening was extremely windy again and we woke up to heavy snow falling the next morning, so Pops and I were lucky we got it done when we did. Congrats again Pops, you deserved that experience more than most will know and i'm glad I got to share it with ya! JIM>

    CouesWhitetail.com Dance Team

Good luck finding a picture of Lark! If I could've found one he would've been a great dancer I'm sure! There's a couple folks here that are lucky I couldn't find a good picture of em', otherwise they would've been drafted into the team as well! Thanks all for supporting our new CouesWhitetail.com dance team
  17. I'm not at all against people's right to protest, but for somebody to actually feel that way and have those thoughts is very scary! Truth be told, there are people out there that share in that dudes thoughts and ideas! That's very scary! I hope that is photoshopped though!!!
  18. Is that real or photoshopped?????!!! If I saw him holding that sign in person, and it actually said that, I'm not sure what I'd do, but I'm sure I would've got in a lot of trouble
