THAT is a beautiful mount! Who's the taxi? Whoever it is did a great job! Thanks, JIM> BTW......I think that might have to be your new avatar! never mind.....you changed your avatar just as I posted that!

I like the "Dead On" video as well....but...I like any video that has Coues on it! I feel Coues deer are the hardest animal to video tape, especially while hunting! "Coues Deer Is King", I feel, has the best quality of footage and is the best on the market, even though there isn't much competition.......yet! But, I love the mixture between North and South of the border Coues hunts better. I am hoping to have a video together by next spring, it might be a combo Elk/Coues video but I have alot of great footage of Coues hunts, and if we get a couple more, I will have a video entirely of Arizona/Mexico Coues hunts. I posted a couple shot sequences from two defferent hunts we video taped in the "Taking pictures of Coues" forum. When I get it completed, you guys will be the first to get em'! We need more Coues hunting videos out there! Thanks, JIM>

I hope you boys are right about the little "glitches" and "coming out this week" stuff, cause I'm hearing different! I had just got settled in for the long wait till the 25th or 26th when I got on here and read your posts! It's all just rumors, I know, but those little glitches were more like big screw-ups from what i'm hearing! I heard the commission was even asked for an extension on the deadline because of the problems. I don't know if it happened or not but i'm not hearing any positive rumors....... at least not until I get on this thread! I think I'll just stay here and listen to you guys! It makes me feel better! Thanks, JIM>

Alright, this is my favorite. This was a nice buck that walked less than 10 yrds from my brother, Matt, down in Mexico. It made for some awesome footage that I have never seen on any other Coues videos! He filmed him walking up the ridge towards him, the buck stopped, looked at the camera, and then just kept walking! You can see he'd just been in a fight, his eye is swollen and the beam is snapped. I am sitting behind the buck and uphill a ways watching it all! Thanks, JIM>

..........I was waiting for this to come up! I have been getting a bunch of calls about it! Thankfully they do have "THEIR" James Mullins in custody and not just "looking" for a James Mullins! Also, I'm really glad they keep showing his picture so people won't start wondering. I also was waiting for the "hat" comment, thanks azpackhorse! I was just being stupid for the camera, trying to imitate an old prospector on his mule, I did turn the brim down after the pic! Thanks, Jose Rodriguez

This is a Mexico buck the other hunter in camp killed. My Bro filmed the hunt, and this one I believe was around 200 yrds and the buck went about 15 yrds. The poor tree still has the bullet in it! Thanks, JIM>

Another Coues video pic
COOSEFAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I have always wanted to snap off pics from a video but my big camera won't allow it, so I tried my smaller camera and it works great. I have always wanted to share my videos but that seems too hard, so this will work for now. P.S.....I just counted, and I have 53 more miniDV's with cool stuff on em', so you'll see some more pics soon. Thanks, JIM> -
Still tryin' to pass the time by goin' through videos looking for pics. This one is the first buck I shot in Mexico this past Jan. The pics are in sequence of before, during and after I hit him. The shot wasn't very dramatic, the bullet struck behind and low of the front shoulder and he went about 15 yrds. The video/shot were taken at 210 yrds. Thanks, JIM>

A couple more Elk video pics

This bull is a deceiving bull to score. His fronts appear smaller than they actually are because of the curve up. This bull scores more than he appears becasue he "rolls the tape" everywhere. Alot of curves and those huge G5's make up for what he lacks down low. He is actually a 390+ bull and is believed to be bigger by other guys who have filmed him and would know alot better than I about scoring bulls on the hoof. I personally don't care what he scores, I just wanted to put my hands on him because of how beautiful his rack is. I love big tops on bulls! This bull had some buddies that he ran with and had a considerably larger body size than the others, so that has to be taken into consideration when field scoring also. I hope we get to see him again.........hopefully alive! Thanks for the replys, JIM> Check out the new "Awesome Archery Bulls 2" video to see this bull "hard-horned", I think he looks more impressive without velvet. -
A couple more Elk video pics
COOSEFAN posted a topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
This is a bull my brother, Matt, found two years ago and found him again last year. We had em' ........ then he disappeared! He was one of two bulls we wanted for the Raffle tag holder last year and he disappeared about two weeks before the hunt. We figured he went south and still couldn't relocate him, BUT I just found out we didn't go far enough south! If anyone wants to see a great video, check out the new "Awesome archery bulls 2" video that just came out, this bull is on there and they almost got him! I'll be honest and say I was happy the hunter didn't get him, but he did get a different monster bull. I think he is still alive (hopefully) and hope he shows back up! For the record, I don't know who named him first, but my bro named him "Willy", as in Free Willy because of his huge "whale tails", and the other guys named him "Topper", for similar reasons. Thanks, JIM> -

Yeah Doug, unit 45 has some awesome genetics for huge bull elk No, we haven't found him yet, but haven't hit that area hard yet. He was supposedly seen several times by a buddy in late February, still sporting his antlers, but then disappeared again. We believe he moves out of unit 45 for a while every year and then returns with his new set of antlers around summer time. There are a couple other "bad boys" that made it through the hunts and as soon as I get some pics, I'll post em'. It was drier this year, but there is still some amazing growth taking place DOWN there.....in unit 45. JIM> -

Hey Allen, my first two choices were for this unit, BUT the bad thing is, even if I drew the archery tag, there will still be several hunters allowed to hunt earlier, and if this bull is still alive, they will probably get a chance at him. I know there are bigger ones out there and hopefully they hold out for those! We will see! JIM> -
I am seriously going insane waitng for the results! I find it comforting at least to go back through my videos and re-live some hunts. I'll share a little of this comfort with you all by snapping a few pics. This is a buck I followed for 3 days leading up to the early 12AW hunt last year. This buck was within 200 yrds of this spot every day.....except on the 4th day (opening day)! A storm rolled in and pushed him off the rim (I think), never to be seen by ME again, thats how it goes, but nice buck, great mass and some stickers off the G2's, I named him "Batman" because his antlers look like batwings with the little fingers off the back. Thanks, JIM> The bucks up there have wide ear spreads also, just to give an idea on how wide he is!

Happy birthday, hope you get all your first choices, or at least one, for a b-day present! JIM> -
I was going through some videos from last year and snapped off some pics. This is a bull that a buddy, Jason Scott, filmed with a client. Jason called this monster in to less than 20 yrds and the client didn't draw back in time!!!!!!!!! He had passed up ALOT of bulls, all on tape, waiting for this one, and I guarantee he'll draw sooner next time! Thanks, JIM>

Now that is just messin' with our emotions, settin' us up for a let down dude! I now have the "shakes" and my vision is blurred and I'm walking in circles, I always lose it right about now every year, only to finally hit that downward spiral when I hear......"YOU WERE NOT DRAWN FOR.........."! JIM>

Elk pic from video
COOSEFAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Yeah, I'm sure the school bells were ringing! I know for a fact my buddies worked their butt's off on that hunt and was amazing to watch (and heartbreaking at times). This opportunity happened during a last ditch effort at the end of the hunt and everything was perfect, well...almost everything. The hunter was still very happy just to have experienced it all, which was awesome, because I know I would still be seeing a counselor twice a week if it happened to me! BTW...this was "over the shoulder" video! The hunter is a little closer and just to the left! I tried to snap a pic where you can see the left antler better, but the bull takes off too fast, it is a 6 but is bigger than the 7 side you can see, he was/is a TOAD! Thanks,JIM> -
I was going through some videos and found a couple good sunset scenes and snapped off these pics to share. A good friend, Jason Scott, filmed this bull with a client last year and this bull was passed up, the second pic is the same bull but Jason filmed through the clients bow and panned back making a great video! Thanks, JIM>

DANG! You guys have some good ones! I hope some of them are in frames, they're good enough to be! Here's a couple from near my house, I wish I had took the time to photograph more of them through the years, I will from now on! Thanks, JIM>

"two weeks ahead of the deadline"..........If the deadline is the 28th, then maybe.....this friday? I really doubt it, but that would be AWESOME! I actually heard from someone that is a "higher-up" in AZGFD, that it's expected to be the 26th because of problems they had, AND.......next year it will be back to paper apps! They appearantly aren't happy with the poeple that have been handling the current draw system. He did not state it as FACT, about the 26th, so.....we can keep hoping it's sooner! I have entered into my annual ritual of sleepless nights, dangerous driving habits due to day-dreaming, and fights with buddies who pull the, "THEIR OUT, GET ON-LINE NOW", pranks! So good luck enduring this torturous time of the year and on the draw! JIM>

Back from the honeymoon trip to South Africa!
COOSEFAN replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Congrats on a safe and VERY successful trip! Those are some beautiful trophy's, except for that warthog, but....I guess they are cute in there own way! Whats up with the Swaro's face first in the dirt...couldn't help but notice Thanks for sharing your trip with us, great pics! JIM> -
Neo, I'm just jealous as heck that YOU can wake up at 5:00 am and be in coues country 30 mins. later!!!!!!!!! That would be AWESOME! I was bitten by the "hunting bug" the day I learned to walk, and have been sick for around 29 years now. I remember dying for the day I got my drivers license, not to go out partying, but to finally go hunting on my own, in places extending farther than the reach of my bicycle! I have even gotten so sick with this addiction over the past several years, that I quit my job for 6 months at a time just to find the cure! I knew my wife for several years before we started dating and dated for 5 years before we got married, so she knew very well what she was getting into! Like has been said before, try to spend as much time as possible with her, doing things that she is interested in, and hopefully it creates some sort of balance, for her at least! I just got real lucky and married a girl who puts up with, and actually admires, my passion (sickness) for the sport we love. My wife actually got into hunting, mainly to be able to see me for more than a day during the fall/winter, and we've shared some great experiences. Best of luck to you, and let us know if you find a cure! JIM> This was her first Elk. Last day and 5 mins. after she had just let a beautiful 300"class bull walk by (the gun wouldn't fire........the safety really does work!) This "T.J." (tender and juicy) bull stepped out and the safety was OFF this time!

Yeah, it looks like the GC but it's just another big hole in the ground just like it! I knew where this "big hole in the ground" was and rode straight towards it for a while, fully expecting to run into a fence or main road, but instead I ran into the edge of the "big hole in the ground"! Long story short, I snapped a few pic's ( since I was already there), dropped my antlers ( which I know I picked up legally earlier that day), and hauled "butt" (Mule) back the way I came! note to self: don't always expect there to be a fence or signs telling you where you can and can't go! Thanks, sincerely, JORGE GONZALES

"long ears" are the way to go! Unfortunately my life doesn't allow me enough time to get the Mules out as much as I would like. They are pretty much like over-grown pet dogs most of the year and have just as much character as a pet dog! Very neat critters though, but they require alot of dedication and time on a daily basis to keep them in shape and ready to go. For packing and long trips, a Mule is what you want! Each Mule seems to have it's own personality, but find one that is a little older and easy going and it will be your biggest asset for backcountry hunting. This is me and Katie. (don't ask me if that is the Grand Canyon.) This is Ginger, my dads "Beast"! (don't ask me about my hat.)
