I agree with Amanda, the 2200 has been the most comfortable I've worn, but it is hard to fit stuff inside it and the side pockets drive me NUTS, I can barely fit my GPS in them. I have raved about my 2200 till now.......the last two hunts i just came off of, my 2200 sucked! Both zippers for the big compartment, front and back, got jammed up! I tried to "baby" them when I noticed the problem, but they eventually got "mis-aligned" and won't close now. I had to have my dad bring up another pack for me to use! I think it was because of all the dust, my pack got real dusty up north and was the only thing out of the norm. My dad did just buy the Eberlestock pack and it is still in the plastic bag...............I'm gonna make it disappear! JIM>

filming a spot-n-stalk Coues hunt has got to be one of the hardest to get on tape! I have seen several from ground blinds or treestands, but to get a stalk/kill hunt would be awesome! Heck, it'll be worth tha money just to see the stalk and miss on that buck, can't wait, I know you guys got some incredible Coues footage, and if anybody's gonna get a stalk/kill hunt on video....It'll be you guys! I look forward to your next video! Best of luck, JIM>

I don't know if these are the same pics that are on MM but I have been sitting on them for about a month, forgot I had em' till I seen Donnie's pic. I don't know where they are from, just recieved from email. What a trophy that would be.......you would have to get him "life-sized"! JIM>

Short Video of Coues Hunts
COOSEFAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Thanks guys, I just added three more hunts (actually 4 but one isn't really a real deer ) to the first video I posted, but it's giving me problems when loading it into photobucket. I'll try later. These three new ones are all 90" and bigger, pretty good stuff for being put together quick. I burned off a copy and will send it to you Amanda, thanks, JIM> -
I finally got the camera to take stills from my video. Here is the pic's in order as they happened. The Bull came out of the Alders straight behind him and came straight at me until at about 60 yrds, he then turned left and my first shot was just in front of the right shoulder in the heart, three follow up shots were in a tight group behind the shoulder. My only regret, is that I didn't have my bow instead.....would have been easy........them beasts are HUGE and easy to fool when in the rut! FYI-- we are sitting in a thick stand of Alder brush with this small window, the pic's make it look like we are out in the open. And this is where I looked back at my buddy Bret for the third time to make sure he was thinking the same as I that this bull was over 50". I then settled back in and took him right after this next photo. The second shot was broadside facing left and he then walked straight away, the third and fourth were facing left right after the last photo. The video is awesome and all the fog added to the moment! These animals are amazing and deserve alot of respect! I got the antlers finally and can't put them down, what a beast!

Short Video of Coues Hunts
COOSEFAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Thanks, the music is called Social Blindness and I had bought it through my editing software a while back. I have not seen it elsewhere and have always used it on my personal videos for clients and friends. I have seen some of the same music that I have bought on other huntin shows and videos. The new "Never Enough 2" video has my Mexican music on it Oh well, I'll have to buy some new stuff! JIM> -
So, was that him that started the commotion on MM about that monster buck with the conspiracy theory behind it? It was a few months ago and I remember thinking it sounded just like him, someone else had pointed it out too. JIM>

I don't know if I would call it the hunt of a lifetime....with all the negative experiences we dealt with, I think to ultimately still harvest a Moose, it became my biggest accomplishment more than anything. It was an experience I will never forget thats for sure! The hunt was supposed to be under $5,000.00 all said and done, but I didn't have the right clothes and gear for that type of hunt, so it cost a bit more after shopping for the hunt. Shipping the entire Moose home cost alot more than I expected as well! I think my dream hunt would be a combo hunt in Old Mexico taking a huge non-typical Muley AND a huge non-typical Coues! I can't afford that one though! Thanks, JIM>

Moose Hunt Video
COOSEFAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Thanks for checking it out guys! Yeah, my goal is to have enough footage by next spring, so far it's been good. I wish I had the persevearance you had on your archery hunt to carry the camera! I had an amazing call-in experience last Sunday with a client and his dad, we had a stand-off for 15 minutes, screaming back and forth with a 340+ bull at 30yrds and he finally stepped out and the client plowed him! I left the camera in the truck! The hunt was going rough with no bugles and I didn't want to lessen chances any by worrying about video. It doesn't always work out, but I've got my fingers crossed. I appreciate the interest, thanks, JIM> -
I shot my Moose with a 30-06 shooting 180gr nosler partitions. It took four solid shots to finally put him on the ground...........I don't know if anything else would have done it faster or with less shots? I like the tried and true 7mm and the 300 win mag. My coues gun is the dependable .270. My scope failed on my 300 win. in Alaska, so I used my buddy's 30-06 for my Moose. With that said....I would spend more money and thought on which scope to put on your new rifle than which caliber! just my $.02, JIM> I agree coosefan the scope is just as important as the rifle. As far as if any other caliber may have taken the moose down faster, I don't know those things are built like a mack truck, maybe your 300 win? I put the video of my moose kill on here, you can see first hand how tough they are. It is under the photo&video forum. Thanks, JIM>

I shortened this up alot from the edited video, but it shows a little of the calling and trip in on the boat. Thanks, JIM> -
Watch out...Archery Elk kill
COOSEFAN posted a topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
This is my buddy Craigs bull from a couple weeks ago. I took this right off of the video I had put together and shortened it up, you miss alot of detail by condensing the data, but you get the idea! Turn the volume up on this one. JIM> -

I have some of the soft and the hard shell ones, the hard shell ones suck...dig into your skin. The soft ones I have are fairly heavy....I look into some lighter ones, thanks. John, I'll keep and eye out for ya, that would be cool to meet up, hopefully your packin' out a buck! JIM> -

The video is crystal clear in it's original format, i have changed it into a stream format for photobucket and I think it condenses it too much, I am trying to change it into a MPEG right now, hopefully that is better. Thanks, JIM> That works better, I just had to change it to MPEG format not the Stream format. I edited the first post and it is the revised clip. Thanks, JIM> -

Can I put it in a diferent format or something so it doesn't get so blurry? It seems to distort the video very bad when downloading it. -

COOSEFAN replied to royerj1's topic in Optics and tripods
I think on Wed. as well. I have been out of town so much I don't know for sure, my hunting partner is Shortpants and he has been away as much as me, so we are just going to "wing" it and see what happens. I have never hunted up high like we plan too this year, but if plans get messed up, I have a few spots down low that should produce. I just hate walking in tall grass in the desert! I have already been "shot-up" with anti-venin before and it is not supposed to work again, so I need to avoid the snakes! JIM> -

Jim, Their web site is www.parkersperfect.com or you can call them at 1-800-884-8005 The stuff works great. Thanks, I'll get some! (wish I had it in Alaska!) JIM> Hey John, I have the Oct. tag and am too busy to scout, but we are planning to backpack in for the whole hunt........did you have any problems with snakes? I'm a little worried now thinking about all that tall grass! JIM>
