Depending if the animals heart is contracting or on an off beat, the heart will be hard of soft.

I have seen others who used the winchester 125gr. and was not happy at the way they shot but they were enough to kill a deer. This year I am trying out the hornady light magnum 165gr. sst's. The speed on them is faster than most other 30-06 rounds, and the flight trajectory is alot flatter than most other ones I could find. The price is alot but they are the best ones I have been able to find.

Has anyone on here ever been elk hunting in units 9 and 11 on the white mountain apache reservation. I got drawn for a depredation elk hunt for cow or spike elk and I am not aloud to scout except for 2 days before the hunt. Any info that could just point me in the right direction would be very helpfull.
