    Safety Share on Rifles

Once a freind bought a 300weatherby mag . I went to the store and bought a box of 300 weatherby ammo, drove to his house picked him up and went to the range. He fired 1st round, we coudnt tell where it hit, and something just didnt seem right . I examined fired shell , it looked ok . He fired 2cd round , it hit the ground about half way to the target . I closely examined fired cartridge , it looked just like the first one only on this one I noticed it said 270 weatherby mag.The brass fire formed to the larger chamber size, The box said 300 , the shells were270. Lucky for us the bullets were smaller than the bore. You can never be too careful , doublecheck every thing.

    New Rifle Help!!!!

I'm a big fan of 300wby mag, however, 257wby has very similar trajectory with less recoil. Yes, less energy also but that shoudn't be a problem with coues deer. The all-time all around champ has to be 30-06 ,versatility, variety, availability. Goodluck

    Hunter Killed

looks like we have a special visitor among us tonight. I think I ruffled his feathers . Personal Message bodybags Hunter????, Today, 10:33 PM Newbie Group: Members Posts: 0 Member No.: 1490 Joined: Today, 10:09 PM I just read your msg regarding Steve and his passing...How dare you say anything about him being a hunter...You call yourself a hunter im sure as you drive up to the woods in your camper trailer, with your gun or your special bow carrying you GPS tracker with your $200 backpack strapped to your back..How dare you call yourself a hunter, your an animal killer..Indians were hunters not you so you should be more respectful of the dead and think things through before you start questioning what a hunter is

    257 weatherby magnum

257 Weatherby magnum ,hmmmm, I'm a 300wby fan but I think you could say your 257 wby is the perfect caliber for Coues and nobody could argue with you much.

    UNIT 29

I have a Nov. tag for 29. Unfortunately , because of work load probaly wont get to do much scouting. Im thinking about taking my horse and riding up into the wilderness. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who's tried that before.Iwould also like to know what kind of conditions your finding down there this year.

    Hunter Killed

Hey AG didnt mean to sound like I was directing that at you. Its just that when I used to watch his show(he was entertaining) I was always aggravated by the fact that he called himself a hunter.

    Hunter Killed

Hunter my a$$. What a misnomer, he was a big anti-hunter. Quote: [sCIENTIFIC AMERICAN: Do you think sustainable use might be an advantage for certain regions of the world? I know of someone who was working in Zimbabwe 10 years ago, and he thought that the only way to get the villagers to not want to kill the elephants was to allow them to harvest ivory in a sustainable way. STEVE: I believe sustainable use is the greatest propaganda in wildlife conservation at the moment. This propaganda has been established by some very credible, very powerful players, and it seems to me that people are using the camouflage of science to make money out of animals. There are people currently saying that they're whaling for scientific purposes. That is just . . . if I think about it too long I'll cry, mate, because I've seen it and it's not working and it's a lie. So, whenever they're killing our animals and calling it sustainable use, I'll fight it because this is just my own personal opinion. ] His wife terry is from Oregon , where she helped get the cougar anti-hunting bills passed. Steve worked hard at stopping hunting all over the world , recently stopping the Australian govts plan to allow crocodile hunting in northern Australia. Condolences to his kids.

What is your favorite elevation to hunt coues deer? How high have you seen 'em. I seen most of 'em last year around 5000 feet. I missed a shot at a 3 pointer. Hoping to redeem myself this year.

    Who's ready for bear?

Any of you experieced bear hunters care to talk about where and how to hunt bear. You don't have to give up your favorite honey hole , just your favorite type of terrain ,techniques.tactics , time of day ,etc. Anybody tried calling bear with a varmint call? I have never hunted bears before and I am looking forward to giving it a try.

    .270 bullet inquiry

.270's fine for caribou,.300's better for moose. If your set on .270, I'd choose the 150's for moose and woudn't consider less than 140's for caribou. Are you taking a backup rifle? Again I suggest .300win . If not consider packing backup riflescope. What about bears?(.300Win!!!) Good luck and have a great hunt. .300 fan
