Congrads to you and your dad Standman, those are some awesome bucks. Great story too. How many guys do you know who can say they bow killed 2 coues bucks, 2 hours apart, let alone a father and son trip. And do we need to start calling you Stalkman for putting the sneak on your buck? Good job and enjoyed the photos and story!!!

Bill, I have called alot in from grunting. We usually start grunting if we spook the herd and have called back hogs to get some real close shots just like you discribed. They are really fun to hunt with a bow. I think it is because there is always alot of action once you find them.

Jim, I just have the small sticker like yours. I guess I'll have to get the bigger one too so I can be spotted. -
Let us know how the coyote calling goes. And Bill that does look like it would help on the sholder pain, might have to make one too.

Thanks for the update Dan, I'll be at the meeting in Mesa next week.

I have a 2005 Brown 4 Door Dodge truck. I get all over Phoenix and Tucson so keep an eye out for it and honk and wave when you do. I haven't seen any others stickers in windows yet but I'm waiting for the day. -
Heck I couldn't find those broken pieces if they were in my garage let alone out in the sticks. Awesome find SunDevil.

Congrads on the hog Jim. What type of broadhead were you using? Sure looks like a big hole on his side. Thanks for the photos and story, nothin' better than huntin' on your birthday.

We have hunted 5 days and are 4 out of 6 so far. 1 of those 4 was the guys 1st big game animal, he did a good job putting the sneak on those javalina. Dan, every time I get on a call I see nothing but the hind end of the hog running the opposite direction, maybe I need to get some calling lessons from you. Sounds like Mike has the spot, already 7 hogs , Good job Mike.

Neat finds while roaming the hills
BowhuntCoues replied to GRONG's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Hats off to you TLH, you did the respectable thing. That would be a neat thing to see as untouched. Too bad in modern day we can't be left in peace like that. -
Jade, Sounds like the "BOSS" is keeping you hopping. By the way , the knife worked great last week.

Yea Josh I was telling him the story of the lion kill you posted the other day on how it was treed so quick and how I know I'll have to do the all day run up and down the hills. We both laughed and said we could never have the kind of luck you did. Low and behold the dogs treed this female right on top of the kill first thing in the morning. She ate most of the deer that night and had a very full belly and wasn't in the mood to run too far. I guess everone has to get lucky every once in awhile.

Take your dog and shoot it
BowhuntCoues replied to Diamondbackaz's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I'm with Scottyboy, you don't treat animals that way. If the dog needed to be disposed of, you don't use it for target practice you use one shot and get it over with. -
Scott, Good luck with the computer stuff, I guess we will just have to wait.

To all, thanks for the nice comments. You are right Wade, Brian does a great job and has some awesome dogs. Dan, the deer was a mule buck, spike one side fork on the other. And Jade the boss chewed on me a little for gettin' home too late and spending to much money. Oh well thats huntin'.

Great story Josh. Keep them coming and good luck in January.

Last night I got a call from a friend of mine saying he got a call about a fresh lion killed deer. He asked if I could meet the guys this morning a see if we could get the lion treed, which of course a guy can't say no to that. So right after last nights football game I got in the truck and drove to Bagdad to meet the lion guide at the Bashas Grocery Store parking lot. We met up at 5:15 this morning and proceeded to the kill site. We had about a 1 1/2 mile walk to get there from where we parked the truck. As we were hiking in I was telling him the story of the lion Josh posted a few days ago and how quickly it treed, I know my luck wouldn't be like that and we would be doing the death march again. As we got close to the kill site even my untrained eye could spot the drag marks of the deer and the all at once the dogs went nuts. The lion was still at the site and now treed up in the tree above the deer. I was thinking to myself, now I have got to be the luckiest man on earth right now. Didn't even have to chase at all. It was still a little before daylight so we got a few photos of the lion in the tree. After a few waiting minutes they finally had me shoot the lion out of the tree. It took a few minutes to try to position the lion to get a good broadside shoot so the arrow would pass completly thru and 1 shot in the heart at 9 yards, down it came and was mauled by the dogs. Its amazing to see those dogs work they really like to hunt. This was an awesome time.
