I don't know of any magizines that are dedicated to strictly Coues deer. Some of the western based magizines will occasionally have an article or two about a Coues hunts. As for strictly Coues deer this site is the only thing I know of.>>> Manny

Heck its been atleast two weeks since I have had a good nights sleep. I can't get the upcomimg elk hunt out of my mind.....and I don't even have a tag!!!!!!! Congratulations to all that drew a tag this year, I think its going to be one of those years that we will never forget. I leave in a day and half and will be gone the rest of the month.....I can't wait!!!!!!!

Ya cause the limbs will explode before you can release the arrow just kidding by the way, they are sweet shooting bows.

My wife also drew that tag AGIAN this year and she has archery hunted for about 6 years now. We have experimented with several set ups during that time. We have found the best broadhead for her application to be a Thunderhead 85. She shoots Carbon Express Maxima 250's and they are 26" long. Her bow is set at 50#'s and she is shooting right about 260fps. With this setup she has killed 5 animals including a bull in unit 9 in 2006. We tried Slick Tricks for her and had penetration problems which cost her an animal over in Texas. We found that most of the newer genration short ferreled broadheads hindered penetration. I have shot Thunderheads myself for a long time and have never had a failure. You do have to tune them prior to the hunt which is not that big of a deal. They generally are a little lower priced than most of the newer generation broadheads too. There are many choices of broadheads out there and for the most part are all good. My only major suggestion is that you stay completly away from mechanicals on elk, definatley if she is shooting a lower poundage bow. Good luck on the hunt. >>>Manny

I killed a deer in January w/my bow and appled for a fall tag so I could gift it to my daughter if she did not draw. I drew the tag and she drew her own. I have to forfeit the tag because I can't kill two deer. You won't commit a violation until you kill multiple deer! You could donate it to the HOAL.>>> Manny
