Lark that was witty I'm still laughing -
Ernesto- you might be on to somthing. My friend just got back from Kansas and killed a 120ish buck and he lives in Dewey. If that picture is in fact at Bill Highslips Taxidermy shop it may be his buck. I'm checking into it.

December I will be hunting my rifle tag down south. My wife will be archery hunting in 22 and come January I will be hunting 22 with my stick and string too. Manny

If i'm not mistaken it looks like the buck is in Bill Highslips (Mountain Memories) taxidermy studio in humbolt, AZ. Manny

I will be camping on the east side of the unit with some friends that are coming to help. Maybe you guys that have this late hunt (or anybody that will be down there) can meet at one of the restaurants one night. I know the guys in the earlier hunts tried to plan that but didn't work out. Hey Jim, Those were great bucks that you and Jimmy took. I don't think you realize who I am, But i will give you a hint. Guess the score contest in Brett's garage for Mcdonalds. Manny

picture comparison
mjmhunter replied to azhuntnut's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
There is no doubt that it is the same bull. First of all the G1s on each side are identical, the G4 on the bulls left side flares out at the tip. The bulls left beam also flares out at the tip. The picture of when he was still alive is at a slightly different angle and you can see the end of the beam a little better. Great bull!!! -
That's no problem for a taxidermist. Just remember when you take it in they will need your tag or the license # for that year.

AWESOME BUCK!!! great job

I shoot a Hoyt Razortech at 29" and at about 68#. I shoot 28 1/2 carbon express CX 300 with 100 gr. tips. My bow shoots in the mid 280's. Desert Bull, Bowtech is a great bow, but be careful with going with short. You may have the same problem that you had with the PSE. Short bows can become very grip critical causing it to be finicky. But on another note its good too see you shoot the right way "Left Handed" the right handed people just will never be as good as us.

I have to agree with "huntin1005," I have since gone back to Thunderhead 100's for their durability. Unless you are dead set on shooting one of the three broadhead heads you mentioned, you may want to give Thunderheads a try if you havent already used them in the past. It takes me about 10-20 minutes to tune them, a couple of shots and their ready to go.

I used the slick trick 100's last year. I shot three animals with them Deer, Antelope and a Hog. All three animals left great blood trails. The farthest tracking job was forty five yards. I was very impressed with the slicktrick. When I was shooting them I was using four inch Duravanes and Carbon Express CX 300's. A friend of mine uses Blazer vanes and shoots Slicktricks. He also drew and elk tag this year and that is going to be his set up. As for flying like a field point, when I first got them I wanted to see how they would fly without doing any tuning. I used three heads and put them on in three different postions. They all pretty much flew identical to my field tips. The only thing I noticed was one of them seemed a little noisy in flight. Hope this helps. Manny

if I were you I would focus my time around Cataract Canyon. The country is rough but I think a guy could still find some good bucks there.

What BLM Maps for 36 A, B, C?
mjmhunter replied to JimmyHat's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
you may still want to look at the maps that huntmap.com make. they can customize a map for any part of arizona. -
I was given a 300 weatherby last year and have not shot it yet. I am looking for a good factory load for whitetail. I would like to stay in the 150 or 165 grain area. I would apprieciate any tips.

i forgot to mention, acetone is a great cleaner only for aluminum.
-
Don't use acetone it will break down the carbon and weaken your arrow shaft. use plain water or take a paper towel fold it and use a small amount of rubbing alcohol.

If I were him then I would consider looking at the Ultramag from Hoyt. It can come as a combo and the price for the combo is $649.99 from trailhead outdoors. The Ultramag has a cast riser and is identical looking to the tec risers. It comes standard with the xt 2000 limbs, alpha shox and Hoyt's cam and a half. My wife shoots one and set at fiftyeight pounds with a 26 inch draw length shooting 27 inch CX200's with an 85 grain tip. her arrow speeds are around 276 fps. For a lower priced bow I dont think it gets much better than that.
