To those who have had some experience on the late hunt in 12a or 12b when would you say the rut peaks for those deer?
-
I have had really good luck using pillow cases. Some of my best ones are grey and tan in color. I like those ones because they are big enough to fit a whole elk quarter and strong enough to carry that weight without tearing. I don't ever leave them in the sun so I don't worry about color.

Shaft length 42"

You are a complete fool Ha! I guess I'll take being a fool with 4 AZ antelope tags in the last 20 years over being smart with 20+ points
-
I can't feel sorry for anyone with close to max points, if you have that many points it isn't because you are unlucky it is because you choose to hold out for the best tags.

Hunting with an order of protection - Questions/Thoughts needed
missedagain replied to naturegirl's topic in The Campfire
Restraining orders work both ways, to me if you are knowing going in a place that you know he is likely to be that is as much your fault as it is his. 6A is a big unit and it is pretty much all elk country, I would recommend finding an new area to hunt, if you need ideas of new places in 6a let me know. -
I have this tag also, according to the game and fish there has not been an antelope killed on this hunt since 2010. I had this tag about 6 year ago and ran into several issues with private land. I would recommend scouting as much as possible. Also would recommend killing as many coyotes while scouting as possible. When I scouted for this hunt 6 years ago I witnessed the disappearance of many fawns, I also killed 3 coyotes without purposefully pursuing them. If you see me out there in a red Tacoma with a camper shell feel free to say hello. Good luck

Here's an idea, anyone with more than 1000 posts talks to much and shouldn't be able to post more than once a week.

I've seen this as well, two years ago in January I ran into a game officer in the field. He asked me if I had seen anything since they had just finished their deer survey and had seen very few deer. I asked him if rifle tags were going to be reduced since their deer survey showed such a low population and he immediately got defensive and said "oh no, the ratios still have to be maintained". One of the stupidest things I've heard. No doubt most of what G&F does is manage hunters not wildlife. I like most of the changes that are being proposed this year, if you are going to give 800 rifle tags away then I'd rather they split in two 400 hunts. You are never going to please everyone no matter what.

My super secret friend who has access to super secret inside az g&f info said that their tarot cards told her that the draw results will be posted on Thursday April 2nd.

Archery Deer hunts north of the rim in Dec/Jan?
missedagain replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Of course more opportunity is good but I wouldn't want to set more precedence for archery deer tags going to a draw. -
If you all remember there were years when the charges starting hitting the day after the deadline to update cards, I just think it is comical that every year the game and fish run the draw they seems to get a little worse at doing so.

Buffalo bull this spring took 30 points. 29 points was 50%

Good news, North rim bull tags are over the counter!

AZGFD DOES IT AGAIN
missedagain replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I'm doubting a rule of this nature would withstand litigation however I think this would be a great law for Arizona and would slow the trend of Arizona following the rest of the country in commercializing hunting. If land owners can't profit from locking up access to public land then oh shucks. -
Why is hunting not allowed in this part of the national forest? Maybe that's the problem
-
I also have seen private companies using these to scan parking lots and neighborhoods looking for repo's

My wife got one in the mail also for a tag that she applied for but did not draw. I contemplated filling it out and saying she killed a deer to see if they would respond but decided to just throw it away. This is the third time I can remember them sending out mistake surveys.

Thanks guys, I'm sending pm's to each of you.

Just apply for any early rifle bull tag, 1 choice only and with 0 points he will be about 1 in 10,000 to draw. If by chance he does draw donate the tag to hunt of a life time and make some other kid really happy for the cost of only one bonus point.

I filled some out this morning and got email confirms within a few minutes.
