The az g$f released some otters on the verde. Never got to see them but a guy I know that lives on the verde said he used see them playing on the bank and eating all the chubs. I am sure that there is enough water to support them in NM, just hope the NM g&f doesn't start closing off large areas of "Otter habitat" to all entry like the az g$f does here to protect are road kill eating bald eagles.

There are big deer in both units the problem is that most of them live in country way to thick to rifle hunt effectively. If I had this hunt I would probably leave my 7mag at home and take my 30-30 sneaking through the oaks.

I also try and leave them as I found them but sometimes get really frustrated when the gate is in such disrepair that you practically need a pry bar to close them

Like most hunters on here I have favorite spots scattered all over the state, anywhere from 15min to 5 hours away. If I am going to set my camera up more than an hour or two away I make sure it has fresh batteries and an empty memory because I probably will not check it for a month or so.

I am still waiting for my really good day... it is going to be Dec. 15th... I will finally be done with school and I will be starting my 32 coues hunt... I can't wait!

Welcome to the state & site! Where are you from? There are a lot of places to buy salt, it mostly depends on what kind and quantity you want. If I were you I would probably not worry about salt this late in the game as it often takes deer awhile to get used to coming to a mineral lick. Also you do not want to start a salt lick without doing some pretty thorough scouting first or you are just polluting the dirt. Finally, even though 23 is open in the late archery season sitting salt is usually not the best tactic that time of year (in my opinion). A better bet for this years season would be to sit water or spot n stalk especially in the late season. A side benefit of spot n stalk is that you will get to know a lot more country faster and be able to find good spots that you can start a lick on for next fall.

I just noticed that Remington is factory loading 150 gr. Scirocco. I was starting to regret buying this caliber since I don't reload(yet ) and for a while the only load Remington was selling was those core-lokt. Now I have an excuse to burn all the partitions that I had stock piled.
