    elk draw

g$f is in the business of selling tags not sound wildlife management, from what my buddy told me that works at the g$f they have not listened to what the game managers reccommend in years anyways

    Quail

I don't think that the overall population of quail is that high right now, we had to dry of a winter and a spring. The people that are saying that it is going to be a great year I'm guessing are talking specifically about mearns. If you find an area that has year round water there will be fair numbers of quail.

    Need Bow Advice

that is good that it has steel cables, so you shouldn't have to spend more than about 10$ on a string. With those tear-drop style attachments you don't even really need a bowpress to change it out. But like Guliuro Mtn Man said it probably wouldn't hurt to clean out the axles.

    Fletchings

I'll third the az-ez fletch for cost, and convenience. If you want more options on how you want to fletch your arrows then bitzenburger is the way to go.

    A little help in 22

The good news is that the whole mtn range holds deer, so I would just have fun exploring it. Any of those trail heads from the east side would be a good starting point, as Desert Bull said you can almost drive to the top of mt peely and that is probably the easiest way to get on the matzabal divide trail (this trail takes you everywhere up there, but is overgrown and burnt out in many places) I wouldn't recommend coming in from the west because I have done it before and you hike 10 times as hard to get to the same area that you could have gotten to from the east side. Basically if you start hiking from the east you start at 5000+ elevation, if you start at the west side you start at 2000ft elevation.

    Need Bow Advice

Once you post a pick we can probably help you out a little more. There is a chance all you need is a new string, but hard to say without seeing the bow. I would try a few "pro shops" but from my experience most of them don't want to waste their time with you unless you are spending $1200 on a new setup. I would try archery headquarters first and then 4-peaks archery.

    Favorite Tree stand?

I have a few, 2 portables and 1 climber. I can't remember what brand my hang-ons are, I got them on close-out some years ago, but I love them because they will hang on almost any tree, they are simple to use with nothing to get in the way, they have overly large platforms, and are not to heavy to carry. My climber is a p.o.s., it has a bar that surrounds you that gets in the way of your bow, it can only be used on straight trees with no limbs in the way (basically aspens), and it is made so flimsy that I'm sure it is going to break on me one of these days(good thing I hardly ever use it) the weight rating on it must be 80lbs or something. I know this doesn't help you with brands, but might give you some extra ideas of features to look for.

    New to coues deer

I think the key to pattern coues like they do back east is to find an area that is a really rich habitat for them. In areas like this I think they will not have to roam as much to find food and become more predictable. I found a bowl that was only about an acre or two and this herd of does was coming to bed in their everyday all year long. I know from my trail camera that once the rut started the does kept coming in there and they started draging some mature bucks along. There was a well defined rub line along the rim of this bowl but I was never able to catch a buck working it during that time of year(dec, jan). As for mule deer, I don't know anything about them except they are where you find them

    Your First Rifle?

I got my first rifle for christmas when I was 5. It is a marlin youth model bolt action single shot 22lr. I can still remember going to shoot it for the first time, I thought it was so big I had to rest it over sleeping bag to get a steady aim. Now it seems more like a long pistol than rifle. Still have it and will never sell it.

    The new AZ Law

The way that I understand it this law is aimed at people feeding wildlife in urban areas. It does not make it illegal to hunt over bait, except of course for bear & migratory birds. I believe the g$f has more info on this law and some other new ones to take effect this week, including tougher laws on poachers and a law making it illegal to interfere with hunters.

    binos vs spotting scopes

In my opinion it is not worth carrying both large bino's and a scope. I have the same 20x60's you do and think that they are great for the money. I feel that I find more deer with these than when I used to carry a scope. The best advise I know for finding deer that aren't out and moving is to set your field of view on an area and don't move or touch the glass at all. Even if my leg is just barely touching my tripod I get a shaking field of view. With your glasses completely still scan your field of view completely and slowly and then move the glass and repeat. This is what it looks like from the deers point of view.
