    Illegals tried to kill me!

I will have to keep an eye out for booby trap tuna cans from now on! Glad you weren't hurt, riding through mesquite can be painful even without tuna mines laying around!

    Coues Slaughter

Ernesto- sorry if that offended you Chief- nevermind its not worth argueing over I don't even care about the deer, those are just two things that bother me about our culture. One, any time I see land owned by the gov. (the people) that is not open to the hunting public, and two the attitude that when nature gets in the way, bulldoze it, pave it, and forget about it.

    Coues Slaughter

Chief- thank you for clarifying my point. "Permits are not limited only to military personnel but include active and retired military personnel (worldwide), their spouse, and legal dependents may also apply. All full-time civil service AND Non-appropriated fund employess of Fort Huachuca, their spouse and legal dependents may apply. Any person who is enrolled in the AGFD CHAMP program may apply." So it is not open to the public! "I do recall tags left over from the first draw but never from the the first come first serve draw." So there is not enough demand from the people who are eligible to fill the quota of tags in the draw!

Fort Huachuca is open to hunting. Yes I know, but only to military personel. And if I remember correctly they give out very few permits and even then there are leftovers. If they opened it to the public and just required some sort of safety class like they do for a portion of the goldwater range they could increase hunter opportunity and save tax payers money from having to do stupid stuff like this.

    Finally working!

If you have the patience to keep trying a website for 2 years before you got it to work those deer won't stand a chance

Look what jumped into our wheelbarrow!

Congratulations on the nice deer! I once tried to haul out an animal in a wheel barrow, had to push it through a few hundred yards of soft sand and by the end of that my calves were so cramped I could barely move!

    Coues Slaughter

It is interesting to read the comments on articles like that and get some perspectives of non-hunters. This is just another reason that all the military reservations and national parks should be opened to hunters!

    Deer tusks!!!?

billrquimby- I believe that there is considerable more scientific and physical evidence to support the theories of evolution than there are to support the theory of a supreme being. From what you decribe in the writings of Mr. Schroeder his arguments do not seem to have much merit. To say that evolution could not be true because the laws of probablities are against it is an unqualified statement, we do not even know how many trillion life supporting ecosystems that there are in the universe or for how many eons they have had to evolve. Therefore he has no way of knowing what the odds would be. Nor do I think any scientist believing in evolution would say that the composition structure of DNA's proteins, nucleaic acids, etc is a random event. That is a major concepts of evolution is that it is not random but specific to the environment around it.

    What's Scarier?

The fact that we have troops deployed in foriegn countries while we can't protect our own border is outrageous to me! The thing that scares me most down there is having my camp or my truck raided or stolen while I'm out hiking around. I am always armed while I'm down there and that gives me some sense of comfort for my personal safety, but when I leave my camp or truck alone it is a feeling of helplessness that I can do nothing to protect it. Neo - I never heard about that in the Rincons, that would be cool

    Deer's eyesight

I have always wondered how far away they can see you? From my experience you can just about do jumping jacks in plain sight of an elk if you are roughly 300 yards or farther away and they won't see you. With coues I think the farthest I have been busted was probably around 400 yards when walking out in the open, but it is hard to tell if they are picking up on you because of sight or sound. Would be curious to here how far away people have been and been busted by coues.
