I got my tag in the mail today, I thought it was funny because it was a left over tag and I got it about the same time as the regular draw tags.

Mule deer hunter has a choice to make.....
missedagain replied to mulie hunter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I would go to 27, its to hot to hunt in the desert in Aug. Also you have a better chance of seeing a bear in 27 and the fishing is better between hunting sessions. And take the wife with you. -
Those look like monster bucks to me. Thanks for sharing!

The rubber dam dried out and broke, what a surprise. I went down there and watched it flood out, pretty cool I heard it was running 15k cfs. I live about a mile away and could smell the rotting fish at my house the other night. The aligator thing was a show the az herpitological society put on bringing one of their gators down to show the crowd. They are worried about mesquito population explotion and have started spraying poison, they said they were also worried about all of the waterfowl coming to the lake right in the flight path of sky harbor.

When they changed this it really pissed me off. Not because I want to hunt lions when it is 115 outside but because the only reason the change was made was because anti hunters where asking the commision to limit the season and the commision said that statistically so few lions are killed this time of year that it wouldn't matter either way. So they just changed the management plan based soley on the fact a conservation group was asking them to and didn't use any kind of biological reasoning.

There are 1440 rifle tags for 32 whitetail not including juniors or archery. Those bucks learn how to hide real fast or they die.

l would hate to fall down packing that thing in. I guess you would need a bear box for your bear box.

Went scouting this morning and got out there just before light just to see the glow of a grass fire burning in the middle of the area I was going to start. So I made a quick change of plans and scouted a little bit different area. The antelope don't appear to be to thick in this area but I did come up to the edge of a small bluff overlooking a basin with a cattle tank in it. I immediately spot a nice buck coming out of the tank. As I watch this buck walk about 300 yards down this valley I see that something has caught his attention. This buck bolts accross the valley and I see another buck coming at him from the other side. They close the distance in a matter of seconds and just before the get to each other the new comer vears off to one side and the chase is on. This was about 11:00 this morning and it was already well past 90 degrees but that didn't stop this bucks from chasing each at a full out sprint for a little over a mile until I lost sight of them. One thing that I was concerned about is in this area I am not seeing a lot of does so I am concerned those bucks will relocate during season.

Just some more bonus points for me. I should be able to pull a couple of good Nevada tags soon (fingers crossed)

I think that the reason this section is so slow is that so many of us are from az and nm. this shouldn't stop us from doing some mini swaps like I have a boat but don't have any dogs so maybe I could find someone with some good bird dogs to take me quail hunting and I could take them fishing.

My credit card just got hit for a muzzleloader southern general tag. Should be fun!
-
I agree the fishing is hit or miss but worth the trip to find out because it is so close. If you have ever tried to float the river in the summer when all of the tubers are out there you would know why it is such a mess. I really think that whoever is making all of the money off of renting the tubes should take some responsibilty to clean up after their customers.

lonely pop-trailers on National Forest land
missedagain replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
That is interesting I had always heard that the 14 day limit started once the camp occupied the spot not 14 days of occupation within a 28 day period. Actually, it is legal. To an extent. Per the AZ BLM website (referenced by the USFS) covering "Dispersed camping" it states.... "Dispersed camping is allowed on Public Lands in Arizona for no more than a period of 14 days within any period of 28 consecutive days. The 28-day period begins when a camper initially occupies a specific location on public lands. The 14 day limit may be reached either through a number of separate visits or through 14 days of continuous overnight occupation during the 28 day period. After the 14th day of occupation, the camper must move outside of a 25 mile radius of the previous location until the 29th day since the initial occupation. The purpose of this special rule is to prevent damage to sensitive resources caused by continual use of any particular areas. In addition, campers must not leave any personal property unattended for more than 10 days." So leaving your trailer, tent, truck, trail cams etc in the woods, alone for less than ten day is perfectly legal as long as it does not leak any hazardous materials, sewage, or gray water.
